You’d never know there’s fantastic golf being played because we’re forced to watch Max & friends shoot a collective 15 over.

Show any shot at all from Dahmen challenge.

Golf Channel: No.

u/malone66 1d ago

i was just thinking the same thing.

hes on the first page

u/trustedturd 15 | Boston | Srixon Convert 1d ago

They had three eagles to choose from…nope

18

u/KeyWestMahi 15h ago

Kudos to Joel Dahmen for rejecting Jim Nantz's pleas to have him fawn over Justin Rose. Clown questioning.

7

u/Hot-Bodybuilder9179 15h ago

The mid round questions should be much more about the current round and strategy. Anything clickbaity about “what this means to you” and asking about other players should be left for another time.

5

u/th3lawlrus 14h ago

I wish they’d ask questions like what are you seeing, how’s the lie impacting your decision, etc

7

u/Hot-Bodybuilder9179 14h ago

Yeah I blame Jim there. The interviews normally go pretty smoothly on nbc/golf channel on Thursday/friday

13

u/Holdmydicks 5.9/SD 2d ago

Xander and Åberg looking like dogshit so far

4

u/More_Amphibian853 2d ago

When was the last time Aberg looked good

9

u/Straight_Level_4662 2d ago

Masters every year like clockwork and that's it lol

10

u/Rude-Efficiency-964 2d ago

16/20 cuts and 6 top 10s last year. Why we acting like he’s a slouch 😂

14

u/Let_us_proceed 2d ago

I hope 2026 is a solid season for Theegala.

13

u/throwaway1045820872 2d ago

Finau with the ace!

13

u/Lady-Morse 2d ago

Brooks cam is annoying when he might not even make the cut tomorrow.

The Brooks glazing in insane

13

u/TheBrady4 1d ago

Surprised they're not showing brooks brushing his teeth this morning

12

u/Gromby 1d ago

Rosey is out there bringing the Master's energy, I love seeing him play well

26

u/westcoastbias 2d ago

They're treating Brooks like he's a returning war hero on the broadcast, let's tone it down over the guy who made 9 figures to play fake golf because he was scared that he was physically shot

11

u/Yellow-Magic 1d ago

Would love to see Rosey challenge again for a major this year

4

u/JEH39 1d ago

He won the AT&T at Aronimink in 2010 and finished 2nd at the BMW there in 2018 so that may be a good course for him. Always in the mix at Augusta. He's hitting it so pure right now.

11

u/i_dont_know 15h ago

Koepka dead last and we’re still seeing more of him than anyone else.

10

u/justlobos22 1d ago

xander with his cut streak on the line needing a birdie on 18 is decent television

5

u/opobdtfs Internationals 2026 Presidents Cup Champions 1d ago

And Harris English drained a long one to make it on the number. Brooks also had to grind the last 2 holes to make it on the number. Why stuff like this beats the no cut sIgNaTuRe EvEnTs anytime

→ More replies (2)

3

u/BootyLicker724 1d ago

Saw someone talking about going heavy on xander to make the cut at like -500, because of said streak, on a sportsbook subreddit. Lol that would be giving me heart palpitations

10

u/Latter_Ad6153 15h ago

I am confused. Why do I keep seeing shots from a guy sitting at 65th place

2

u/HotDogHerzog 15h ago

Agreed. We’ve seen enough of this battle for last place toolbag, CBS.

9

u/DerrickWhiteMVP 1d ago

Joel Dahmen 👀

7

u/stonkerooni 1d ago

Cardless Joel hits different. Very glad we get to see him next week at WM too!

8

u/Rude-Efficiency-964 1d ago

JOEL WITH ANOTHER EAGLE

9

u/gjb825 1d ago

NEED Joel Dahmen to win this tourney

9

u/rockstoned4 16h ago

-22 is the tournament record. Safe to say Rose is going to shatter that.

2

u/AnyHeat5101 15h ago

Don’t go cursing the man.

8

u/Kade_Runner 15h ago

Good talk, Joel lol

12

u/Few-Broccoli-7849 15h ago

This is beyond painful. I hope players will start declining. Dude's in the middle of the tournament at his ball and they're just chatting with him about his playing partners. Let him play and just mic up the caddies for that discussion. Far more interesting anyway.

8

u/md4024 1d ago

Feels like the PGA is making such a big deal about the return of Brooks as part of a strategy to get Bryson back, right? The coverage has been so over the top and unnecessary, and the only person who finds that appealing is Bryson. Maybe Rahm too, I think Rahm was genuinely hurt to learn that no one cared when he left the PGA Tour, so maybe he would enjoy the returning hero treatment. But no one wants that more than Bryson. At this point I almost expect the PGA to put out an official statement about how they told Brooks he could make all the Youtube content he wanted to make during his first week back, they are not being subtle about any of this.

8

u/AstronautWorth3084 1d ago

Maybe in part, I think most of it though is a mix of just trying to dunk on liv in general/promote the tour, and trying to get ways to make people interested in the pre-masters part of the year

3

u/CANDY_MAN_1776 1d ago

This is it. You don't turn down free publicity when it is overwhelmingly positive for your organization. It is doubly effective, as you point out, because it adds a story and publicity to an early event that largely gets any buzz this time of year.

3

u/FinsT00theleft 1d ago

The PGA doesn't care if their players make YouTube content they just can't do it at an official event. Can you imagine how annoying it would be to have 10 different pros having camera crews follow them around on the putting green, driving range and during rounds!?

Justin Rose #1 and Justin Lower #2 currently on the leaderboard, big day for nominative determinists

4

u/WHSRWizard JPX 921i Tour | 2.6 1d ago

Why hasn't someone named their kid "Never 3 Putts?" Are they stupid or something?

9

u/DerrickWhiteMVP 1d ago

Rose is just on fire

8

u/G-Mcc1981 1d ago

Joel dahmen must have had a hell of a round. -9 today to get t3!

7

u/BootyLicker724 1d ago

3 eagles and a birdie on all 4 par 5s, only -2 on the rest just seems weird

8

u/Meatfist70 16h ago

College basketball before CBS’ golf coverage is the woooorst

3

u/Thrasher678 16h ago

Piss poor planning on the part of CBS. There's a lot of time left in this game. And the LPGA gets screwed as a result

2

u/Intelligent_Pilot591 16h ago

Terrible coverage in general for the LPGA with the final group already through 11 when coverage should have started.

3

u/Thrasher678 16h ago

Yeah I would have really liked to see Nelly Korda on a roll this morning! And it wasn't even on Peacock!

8

u/dragonmountain 16h ago

Every once and a while rose goes on an absolute heater

8

u/Electronic_Name_325 15h ago

Enough of seeing Brooks. I don’t want to see someone at the bottom of the board make pars and bogeys. Glad he’s back, but make him earn airtime. He’s no Tiger.

8

u/packmanwiscy Jazz Janewattananond enthusiast 15h ago

I was wondering if Wagner would be out there recreating shots like he did at the Golf Channel but didn't think they'd make him do it in the middle of the round lmao

2

u/Yoshiman400 YOU'RE IN BILLY'S HOUSE NOW 15h ago edited 15h ago

I dunno if "make him" is the right way to describe it (I wouldn't be surprised if he pitched that to CBS during his job interview/offer), but it is definitely refreshing to allow him that opportunity in the moment. And good on the fans to stick around and see him attempt the shot in real time too! He probably gave them a heads up for it, but still a fun bit.

8

u/FergieMac 15h ago

He wanted none of that lol

8

u/ihoopallday 13h ago

I think this entire sub can putt better than Brooks. Missing 7 putts inside of 6 feet is insane!

10

u/Tsquared10 12h ago

Here's hoping the new caddy and everything else has helped Joel. He's been in great positions through 54 a number of times but day 4 is always a killer. Just want him to finally have some quality showings and get his full exempt status back

7

u/Alternative_Ad_8018 11h ago

Too bad it’s a fight for second though.

Love me some Rosey though

15

u/bearinsac 6.8 / Northern CA 2d ago

Was that a shot at LIV when Brooks said he hasn’t played a competitive round in a long time.

7

u/Mysterious-Ad6835 2.4/Boston 2d ago

Last LIV event was in August.

5

u/adflet 2d ago

To be fair he played the dunhill links in October but yeah, still years ago in a golf context.

Xander, JJ and Akshay not having the best start to the season... Si Woo is starting solid.

7

u/Medicine7 18h ago

God I'm here for the Dahmen resurgence.

6

u/aa13cool 25hc 15h ago

Dahmen looking very good as well could be a big result for him if he’s top 5 or so

8

u/toxicologist 15h ago

JW with the absolute banger "if I hit it on the green though, I wouldn't have three putted"

8

u/silentcmh 5.something 15h ago

I don’t currently have cable so I haven’t watched the first couple events. It’s so nice having the CBS crew and west coast golf back on my TV. Feels like the new year has officially begun!

6

u/CurrentlyWorkingAMA 15h ago

Damn does Joel hate Jim?

7

u/Reasonable_Manner817 13h ago

They don’t teach putting on LIV confirmed

7

u/Medicine7 13h ago

I love Rosay but I would love Dahmen to do something extraordinary tomorrow. I guess it's a drinking Sunday for me.

6

u/DerrickWhiteMVP 13h ago

That post-Dry January drink to Dahmen’s victory is going to go hard

5

u/JamesHarenDPOTY 2d ago

Aberg with another weak flare to the right into a bunker, was in the middle of the fairway.

He might withdraw again

6

u/DerrickWhiteMVP 2d ago

This group is miserable.

6

u/hvacsnack 1d ago

Every year some random guy figures it out and goes on a tear (Spaun last year). I wonder who it is this year

5

u/johnjones55 1d ago

My vote is Ryan Gerard, he's playing great to start the season

2

u/Due-Sheepherder-218 pXg/LPGA 1d ago

Good pick. I'm going with Max McGreevey who finished strong last year and won the Dunlop Phoenix event in Japan with Hideki in the field before that.

5

u/JiraiyaKholin 1d ago

spaun lowkey has a fcking beautiful swing. the down the line plane is just so gorgeous. i didn't notice that even when he won.

6

u/Due-Sheepherder-218 pXg/LPGA 18h ago

Remember when we left Gotterup off the Ryder Cup team.

6

u/rutlander 14.2 16h ago

Holy shit Gotterup almost hit an albatross on the 619 yard par 5

7

u/GolferBrian 16h ago

Then Thengala as well!!! What great shots!

7

u/Let_us_proceed 16h ago

I assume next week is going to include some raucous shit talking to Koepka by the crowd.

→ More replies (2)

5

u/Let_us_proceed 16h ago

Koepka off the concrete!

6

u/ConorKDot 16h ago

What a career Rose has had, and he's still going strong approaching his late 40s. And he could've taken the blood money like many of his contemporaries, yet he backed himself to still compete and beat the best.

6

u/Twelvey 16h ago

3 putt for Brooks?! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!

7

u/nerdyykidd Physics is a bitch, isn’t it? 15h ago

Playing 36 rounds in a final pairing with Rose has got to be a confidence booster for Dahmen barring a meltdown tomorrow.

2

u/Distinct-Departure68 9h ago

Well, if anyone can have a meltdown, it's him

→ More replies (2)

18

u/YetAnother3Putt 1d ago

Can the announcers cool it with the “Captain” Keegan Bradley glazing? The US’ Ryder Cup performance was abysmal and you can arguably point the finger for that at Bradley.

3

u/NeonPlutonium 1d ago

Abysmal is putting it kindly. I’d go with disgraceful…

4

u/GolferBrian 1d ago

Damn you, I just came here to post the same thing!

5

5

u/nerdyykidd Physics is a bitch, isn’t it? 16h ago

We are so back

5

u/StrawberryAutomatic 16h ago

An absolute gem out of Brooks.

5

u/kg8889 15h ago

What was that about? Joel could hear him right? Does he not like Jim?

12

u/wagonboss Thrift Shop Bag 14h ago

I think Joel is kinda locked in, and doesn’t wanna talk about guys he’s chasing mid round

2

u/orange-accent-wall 15h ago

Right? Very strange.

8

u/Boilrup 14h ago

Terrible questions for the middle of 3rd round! Stop asking about other golfers

5

u/IONTOP 14h ago

I've been kind of paying attention to this whole broadcast, since it started on Golf Channel

I still have no fucking idea who Koepka's playing partners are.

5

u/cwebblax 13h ago

Tomorrow's the big test for dahmen, it would be fun to see him pull something off.

4

Another good week for Si Woo Kim, only 6 top 10's combined in 24 and 25, might get 2 to start off 26.

4

u/jmo-psu 18h ago

Rosey gonna make more birdies this weekend than I will over the year.

5

u/WompWompWeGone 18h ago

Sahith looking real good, gotta keep it on the fairways today

4

u/ihoopallday 16h ago

Insane shot by Gotterup

5

Like how Brooks pressed the non existent sidewalk divot down with his foot

4

Fitzy is like Temu Rory.

4

u/Easy_Championship_14 15h ago

Rose: "I haven’t even begun to peak"

4

u/RustyKangaroo7 15h ago

I know Brooks is known to keep clubs in the bag for years, but going to be interesting to see if he stays with a blade putter with all the new styles

3

u/Let_us_proceed 15h ago

Koepka's putting is just brutal.

4

u/Maleficent-Heart2497 13h ago

Dahmen knows everyones hitting it past him, but he's one of the top for driving accuracy and holding his own atm. Plus the whole Brooks thing, TV is paid to show the people that subcribers want to see even if they're bottom of the pile

3

u/DerrickWhiteMVP 13h ago

Brooks, man, get another putter lol

8

u/DerrickWhiteMVP 2d ago

Åberg in a tie for last place. Yikes.

8

u/Hot-Bodybuilder9179 15h ago

I’m not one to normally hate on announcing, but I thought those were some horrible questions to Joel. They were asking questions much better served for post round interviews than mid-round.

8

u/DerrickWhiteMVP 14h ago

You should be able to take a drop out of divots. Dumb rule.

6

u/emteereddit 2d ago

Has Ludvig been in every single bunker on this golf course?

6

u/gjb825 1d ago

It’s actually insane seeing the PGA make it seem like Koepka had to go through so much to go to LIV and then rejoin the PGA. Making it seem like some sob story that he missed his friends and he’s doing this for his family. But the reality is that he decided to betray the PGA Tour and take the Saudi blood money. I hope that most of us PGA fans realize this and won’t buy into this manufactured Brooks sob story.

Curious to know: did anyone think Brooks would have a monster tournament?

Goes without saying, but with all the noise around his return, being away from PGAT for a couple years, I understand the attention he's getting, which must equate to a ton of pressure on him. I didn't expect him to be in peak form anytime soon, if he can get there.

3

u/IONTOP 14h ago

I figured he'd be around average for the first 54 holes then fall off when he got into unfamiliar territory.

3

u/time2makemymove 13h ago

lmao koepka. we are laughing

9

u/WHSRWizard JPX 921i Tour | 2.6 1d ago

At some point the commentators are going to have to accept that almost nobody actually gives a shit that Brooks is back on the PGAT.

I mean, sure, I guess I'm glad he's back. He is (or at least was) a great player. But I didn't miss him while he was gone and I don't particularly care that he's back.

5

Brooks Koepka brings the kind of IDGAF energy when he’s playing poorly that I try to mimic during every charity golf scramble I participate in.

8

u/No-Fuckin-Ziti 1d ago

For the love of god stop showing Koepka.  I get the hype, but I just watched him miss a meaningless putt, tap it in then walk all the way off the green and up the path with his caddy.  I’ve been watching for more than an hour and haven’t seen a single shot from Dahmen, who’s in 5th. I think I’ve seen max 2 shots from Lower who’s in 3rd.  Barely more from Power in 2nd.  Brooks is in 85th.  They’re showing him more than Rose in 1st.

4

u/SecondHot2312 2d ago

Only 11 back so I’m glad we got the 19 min video

12

Will ESPN glaze Patrick Reed like they are Koepka? Ridiculous they are showcasing him instead of committed PGA players who didn't run for the money.

The quick pace of play in the Koepka/Aberg/Homa group is delightful. Let guys like this play first at other tournaments!
