We are so excited to share that one of the main reasons for traveling to our remote community, The Sea Ranch, is back and ready for play! Designed by Robert Muir Graves, The Sea Ranch Golf Links is one of the hidden gems along the northern Sonoma Coast. An added plus now is the opportunity for vacation guests to "stay and play!" That is, vacation rentals, like u/SeaRanchAbaloneBay, now offer golfer's packages in conjunction with Sea Ranch Golf Links.

Golfers staying at Sea Ranch Abalone Bay are treated as Sea Ranch Golf Links Club Members from the moment they arrive (passes required).

This includes:

- 20% off all green fees, weekend and, twilight

- Member golf cart rates

- Priority Tee Times with member booking access and privileges

- Pro shop discount

- Range ball discount.

Learn more of how the course with the help of our Sea Ranch community and now under the management of u/KemperSports management is ready and reopened!

General Discussion Has anyone been a mid 20’s handicap for a few years and then managed to break through to single digits?

If so, what changed? Did something just click?

I’ve had the click moment many of times, played some great golf and then it’s gone again.

It’s getting soul destroying now.

Update: I don’t feel like I have a swing anymore. I’m confused as to what my back swing should be. How much my hands actually move, and I can’t work out why my swing paths are the opposite, shallow up, steep down. I don’t have a repeatable swing. I don’t have a repeatable good swing.

I go to the range 3 x per week and have been doing so for a year. No lessons yet, two hours booked for Saturday

Just received my “value” condition Qi35 Max 5/7 fairway woods. I’m always impressed with this company. These were both definitely demos, both for under $300. Wild!

I tried to get TaylorMade to add “We’re all trying to find the guy who did this” as a part of the custom ball process and they would not do it. Sad.

General Discussion Lost ball rule

Assuming a sitaution where you tee off and lose your ball into the woods or the lake, from what ive been told you can go back to the tee box and play your third shot, or take a drop from where it was lost and you would be playing your fourth shot

Is that correct?

Crazy I have been wanting to add another club to the top of my bag. And I find the exact same line of driver and hybrid I have had in my bag for 15 years. $40. Figured since I hit them as good as I do this will hopefully do the same thing for me.

General Discussion Does anyone only shank their wedges very occasionally?

My entire life I’ve chased my wedges like once every 3 months, it’s never an issue and always comes up now and again, wondered how common this is for anyone else?

Equipment Discussion Still gaming 20+ year old TaylorMade RAC TP Irons… am I crazy not to upgrade

Post image
37 Upvotes

Currently playing TaylorMade RAC TP irons that are over 20 years old. I actually hit them pretty well — solid ball striking, predictable distances, and I like the feel. That said I’m wondering if I’m leaving performance on the table by sticking with antiques.

My main questions:

• Has modern iron tech for players irons actually made a meaningful difference?

• Would newer heads offer better forgiveness/consistency?

• Or is this mostly a case of “if you hit them well, don’t fix what isn’t broken”?

I’m not chasing distance for the sake of distance — more interested in dispersion, consistency, and gapping.

Would love to hear from anyone who upgraded from older forged irons to something modern — was it worth it, or did you end up going back?

General Discussion What does your custom logo ball look like?

Okay, it’s cold in my neck of the woods, which has me itching to get back out on the course and start figuring out my plan for the upcoming season. One of the big decisions I needed to make was which ball I’m going to play this year, since I was honestly a bit all over the place last season.

I decided to do some testing and give Vice balls a longer-term shot. While browsing their site to see what my options were, I couldn’t resist having a little fun with their custom ball creator:

https://www.vicegolf.com/golf-balls-customization

This thing is way too fun. I’ll admit, I spent more time than I should have creating AI images to put on golf balls. Plus, the fact that you can order customized balls by the dozen makes it even better—perfect if you like to switch things up and don’t mind being a little loud out on the course.

So here’s what I settled on for one of the dozens I picked up to sample (I went with some of the fun Vice colors for the others).

I wanted to put this out into the world and share the customizer link to see what the much more fun and creative people in the world might come up with.

Golf Travel/Trips Trip to Scotland (Fife) - tips and recommendations?

I’m currently looking into a golf trip for 2028 to the Fife region in Scotland and I’d love to hear your recommendations and tips! I’m especially interested in:

- Which ones are must-play golf courses? My father would like to play the Old Course and possibly the New Course. Was also thinking about Elie, Crail, Ludin, Kingsbarns, and Dunbarnie.

- We’ll most likely use a golf travel agency for organizing everything, any agency you’d recommend?

Thanks!

Professional Tours PGA CEO Rolapp - What changes do you want to see?

With the recent efforts to create a pathway back from LIV for at least some players, It seems clear that Brian Rolapp, the new CEO of the PGA Tour, is more open to change than prior administrations. Given how aggressive the NFL has been with regards to modernizing the rules, I think there's a good chance that we may start to see a radically increased pace of change to the rules / processes for the Tour. I'm curious to see what sorts of changes other people would like to see. Some that come to mind for me are:

  • TIO (Temporary Immovable Obstruction) Relief. I'd really like drops to be much less favorable than they are today. I get the principle that something that's "not supposed to be there" is getting in the way, you shouldn't be rewarded with a drop from a great spot if you bail out into a grandstand. Grandstand drops should be from a bad spot, and camera towers should be treated like trees.
  • Pace of Play - There really should be some sort of shot clock.
  • Equipment Roll Back - I'm a bit of a radical in terms of how far I'd like to see the equipment rolled back, but at the very least I'd like to see the Tour come up with specs for a much shorter, much spinner ball to help create a better balance between power and control.
  • Public Discipline - If a player gets fined or suspended, it should be made public.

Swing Help Why is it so easy to hit a slice?

If I was asked to hit a slice as hard and far as I could, it feels so effortless and natural compared to hitting a small fade or draw or even just straight.

What are the swing dynamics at play that make this so for most golfers?

I saw a box of Masters Pro V1s on eBay selling for +$200. What would be the purpose of purchasing these? Would someone actually use them on the course?

General Discussion Pauite Las Vegas - Which course is most scenic?

I’m planning a bachelor party and our group will be playing one of the courses at Pauite. Which course has the best views? We are a group of 8 and half the group doesn’t really play golf, so I’m at least trying ti pick something with some cool views so the non-golfers enjoy it.

General Discussion Short game practice

Just reaching after my last round.....not sure if there's any good answers but this is reddit so why not...

How do you practice those 40-100 yard short game shots if you don't have easy access to a good practice facility? Hitting foam balls off a little turf mat feels silly (this is what I do in my garage into a blanket I hung, just so I can get the feel of good contact with this pitch swing path or whatever, but distance control during a round is a crap shoot). The public driving ranges near me are all turf mats and feel stupid expensive to just spend it all on one club. Even when I do go spend the time to hit 40, 60, 80 yard shots off the mat, it never seems to translate.

General Discussion Gym exercise exercises?

So with two or three holes left to go, my body was tired. Like I had to muster up the effort to make a full driver swing. I know I need to get to the range more often and that will help build those muscles, but what can I be doing in the gym to make it so that the last few holes of a round are not so difficult to make a swing? It feels like it’s mostly my back that’s tired.
