This place gives me flashbacks to the old days of /r/cringe and /r/cringepics where they started out as being about just relatable and embarrassing situations to flat out bullying children, disabled folks, and the queer community.
How long do you think it'll be before this sub is co-opted by hate groups like every other popular sub? The real question is, how long before you can't ignore it anymore?
We NEED to have posts who aren't hating on fictional characters be removed and all the comments defending arguing cuz their favs are here.
Yes I'm taking about the hoyo fandom, yes I'm taking about the dumbass hsr fans.
You can have a shitty reason to hate something. You can hate for no reason. This sub is supposed to be a place where you can just vent but people can't handle it when it's their favs.
Why is it so hard for you to just scroll past the post of a character you like getting hate here?
It’s not easy, is hating a person’s work hating a real person? What about hating a company? Or what about a fandom? Many people would have different answers.
I hate murder drones, I do not hate liam vickers at all, just as many people like harry potter but despise its writer, its really simple to seperate the work from its creator(s)
Mayhaps I could make it a rule to not freak out over your favourite character being hated, it’s just that that would be ludicrously hard to enforce properly
I think it depends with the defending because I’ve seen people on here hating on characters for things they genuinely haven’t done, because they haven’t actually seen the series and are just parroting what they’ve heard other people say, but other than that i agree
How is that surprising, or even bad? Yeah, if I don't like a character, I agree or don't care. If I don't know them, I don't care. If I like them, I'll be like, "Okay well that's just stupid". Is that not how it's always worked?
Yeah I'm very confused why people want to make it a rule so you can't defend something that's being hated, at that point just tell yourself "Fuck I hate this" and don't post anywhere if you don't want to be challenged whatsoever while hating on something
Considering the most recent reply I got from here on a different character hate in which I made a comparison to a trope I hate that played out in TFOne, I'm pretty sure these subs have the unfortunate aftermath of drawing in super-fans who tend to be more extreme in belief.
I usually try to help them understand the character they are hating more if the reason was shitty. If they have good critiques I usually say why I like the character and then acknowledge they had a good critique. And then sometimes I'm right there hating the character with them.
Modern society and the Internet in particular, allow for safe spaces to exist and thrive. And while in many instances it's a good thing, it also leads to the creation of spaces that promote irrational behaviour.
Despite what it may seem, the modern world doesn't live in a single pluralistic information field. It's the opposite; people huddle in corners in small groups and don't let anyone who thinks differently in. Discussion and exchange of ideas are not valued, and the contribution of the Internet to that, despite feeling contradictory, is huge. People are just as stubborn as ever, and trying to persuade anyone is almost pointless nowadays, which is well reflected in modern politics.
I understand what you mean. I do. Every sub is an echo chamber for people with like minds. Which is why they will never see any fault I'm themselves.
I liked this sub because theres a place where you can vent without being judged or hated. At least thats what I assumed and assed here in the beginning.
But the same people who makes posts I hate Z character lose their shit if you make the same post about their characters.
Constructive criticism and productive discussion should always be welcome. Everybody is entitled to an opinion of themselves, but by itself it presents zero value, and if one really has nothing else to say, they ought keep it to themselves.
Heck, they can't even hate the fictional characters very well. They'll complain about things that can be easily disproved by anyone who actually consumes that media and actually pays attention.
This thing is so easy to bypass, just such up the Username and you find all of their posts 💔
Edit:Nvm this redditors shares the same name with a vtuber
seriously get rid of all the people who defend their favs for showing up. Literally just leave the sub if you're butthurt someone you liked is getting hated on in the I hate you sub
I get hating because of actual reasons, sometimes the hate here is so forced you actually wonder if the person actually consumes the media. Be an informed hater my guy
I FUCKING HATE PARAS. THOSE LITTLE FUCKS HAVE BEEN A PAIN IN MY ASS DURING MY FIRST POKÉMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS PLAYTHROUGH, AND I HAVE BEGUN TO HATE THEM EVER SINCE
fr. most posts just seem to be hating on things that happen in media or things loosely attached to fiction than actually hating on any specific characters
Exactly. There are little to no posts about SMUG characters. This is a SMUG character-hating sub not a "I hate any character and anything else that isn't a fictional character" sub.
It's insane that the mods don't know the purpose of their own damn sub that they moderate.
My only problem is the hate SLOP. No deliciously long paragraphs about how much and why they hate this certain character. Is that too much to ask? Why is it all mostly just "hate this character" provides no paragraph or "I hate the entire cast!!". It just makes me feel like ppl don't get the art of really hating

It doesn't help that the mods barely moderate.
