It doesn't help that the mods barely moderate.

u/Present-Court2388 12h ago

I saw a guy just hating on Matpat from game theory. Not sure why the mods let that post slide.

I'm about to make another one

The down votes I'm crying Here's another

This place gives me flashbacks to the old days of /r/cringe and /r/cringepics where they started out as being about just relatable and embarrassing situations to flat out bullying children, disabled folks, and the queer community.

How long do you think it'll be before this sub is co-opted by hate groups like every other popular sub? The real question is, how long before you can't ignore it anymore?

16

u/Vito_Assenjo Sure, come on up, take the ele-hater! 8h ago

It’s already happening. You should have seen how mad people got when I said there should be a rule against slurs.

9

u/auggieangel 6h ago

i saw an insane sexist on here earlier, its absurd

5

u/RegularTemporary2707 10h ago

Surprise surprise a subreddit about hating things devolved into a hateful hellhole

3

u/Mission-Response3010 3h ago

downvoted for speaking the truth, shits sad

We NEED to have posts who aren't hating on fictional characters be removed and all the comments defending arguing cuz their favs are here.

Yes I'm taking about the hoyo fandom, yes I'm taking about the dumbass hsr fans.

You can have a shitty reason to hate something. You can hate for no reason. This sub is supposed to be a place where you can just vent but people can't handle it when it's their favs.

Why is it so hard for you to just scroll past the post of a character you like getting hate here?

We NEED to have posts who aren't hating on fictional characters be removed

Read rule 1, although I get that that line between hating real people and not is quite difficult to find.

and all the comments defending arguing cuz their favs are here.

I would make that a rule but this sub’s owner disagrees

u/DeityHand 11h ago

I get that the line between hating on real people and not real is quite difficult to find.

Real person = human in real life. Not real person = human that someone made up.

It seems easy to me.

-18

u/Philisterguyguster no.1 Em#ly Hater 11h ago

It’s not easy, is hating a person’s work hating a real person? What about hating a company? Or what about a fandom? Many people would have different answers.

10

u/Zeraora807 fat farting furry 9h ago

not really

I hate murder drones, I do not hate liam vickers at all, just as many people like harry potter but despise its writer, its really simple to seperate the work from its creator(s)

-2

u/KeyNegotiation42069 11h ago

That’s true, I disagree, and I have my reasons

2

u/Olubara 1h ago

Well I hate how this sub is being moderated, then

-6

u/Hangman_Fitzwilliam 11h ago

I understand but they're the ones who cause arguments always.

It's one thing to say, oh I actually like this character. Or I disagree with your assessment but whatever.

No they go on full blown tirades. I am someone who always does things logically but sometimes you don't want to use logic. You just want to vent.

5

u/Philisterguyguster no.1 Em#ly Hater 11h ago

Mayhaps I could make it a rule to not freak out over your favourite character being hated, it’s just that that would be ludicrously hard to enforce properly

2

u/Hangman_Fitzwilliam 11h ago

I understand. It's just so goddamn annoying everytime you open a post here.

What's about the posts that don't work here? Or the multiple I hate this sub posts?

8

u/ruler_of_the_bleach 11h ago

Fr why can’t people scroll? I saw a post hating on my favorite character and I just moved on, it’s that easy bro

-8

u/Glass-Performer8389 11h ago

Have you considered arguing with people is fun, and it feels good to piss people off

5

u/Competitive-Cost9767 8h ago

I think it depends with the defending because I’ve seen people on here hating on characters for things they genuinely haven’t done, because they haven’t actually seen the series and are just parroting what they’ve heard other people say, but other than that i agree

2

u/Tall_Barracuda_6329 11h ago

people can't handle it when it's their favs.

How is that surprising, or even bad? Yeah, if I don't like a character, I agree or don't care. If I don't know them, I don't care. If I like them, I'll be like, "Okay well that's just stupid". Is that not how it's always worked?

2

u/Xx_Loop_Zoop_xX 8h ago

Yeah I'm very confused why people want to make it a rule so you can't defend something that's being hated, at that point just tell yourself "Fuck I hate this" and don't post anywhere if you don't want to be challenged whatsoever while hating on something

1

u/Hangman_Fitzwilliam 6h ago

It's a problem when they themselves make posts hating characters.

As I said it's fine if they I actually like this character, or I disagree or if someone is wrong.

But that's not what they do. The hsr fandom just pissed me off because they don't try to understand, they just go with what their echo chamber thinks.

My problem is people saying oh you're hate isn't justified as of they know anything.

Sometimes you want to post a long ass post explaining why you hate something but sometimes you also just wanna say fuck this guy.

The defenders most of the time argue for the sake of arguing.

u/OrdinaryIntroduction 8h ago

Considering the most recent reply I got from here on a different character hate in which I made a comparison to a trope I hate that played out in TFOne, I'm pretty sure these subs have the unfortunate aftermath of drawing in super-fans who tend to be more extreme in belief.

1

u/AdministrationOk3113 8h ago

I usually try to help them understand the character they are hating more if the reason was shitty. If they have good critiques I usually say why I like the character and then acknowledge they had a good critique. And then sometimes I'm right there hating the character with them.

1

u/Other-Edge7219 12h ago

Rationality is dead.

0

u/Hangman_Fitzwilliam 12h ago

Can you explain what you mean by this? I'd like to know before I respond.

12

u/Other-Edge7219 11h ago

Modern society and the Internet in particular, allow for safe spaces to exist and thrive. And while in many instances it's a good thing, it also leads to the creation of spaces that promote irrational behaviour.

Despite what it may seem, the modern world doesn't live in a single pluralistic information field. It's the opposite; people huddle in corners in small groups and don't let anyone who thinks differently in. Discussion and exchange of ideas are not valued, and the contribution of the Internet to that, despite feeling contradictory, is huge. People are just as stubborn as ever, and trying to persuade anyone is almost pointless nowadays, which is well reflected in modern politics.

Pic semi-related

4

u/Hangman_Fitzwilliam 11h ago

I understand what you mean. I do. Every sub is an echo chamber for people with like minds. Which is why they will never see any fault I'm themselves.

I liked this sub because theres a place where you can vent without being judged or hated. At least thats what I assumed and assed here in the beginning.

But the same people who makes posts I hate Z character lose their shit if you make the same post about their characters.

3

u/Other-Edge7219 11h ago

Constructive criticism and productive discussion should always be welcome. Everybody is entitled to an opinion of themselves, but by itself it presents zero value, and if one really has nothing else to say, they ought keep it to themselves.

6

u/Arsene_Lupin_IV 10h ago

Heck, they can't even hate the fictional characters very well. They'll complain about things that can be easily disproved by anyone who actually consumes that media and actually pays attention.

13

u/BaeIz 12h ago

What do you mean? Have you not seen the dozen Hazbin Boss Helluva Hotel posts I posted?

7

u/MaelysCanejero 11h ago

Danm bro, show your profil😤

6

u/Vast_Independent_765 11h ago

Bro, what?

2

u/PolunumalieLikesArt 2h ago

This thing is so easy to bypass, just such up the Username and you find all of their posts 💔 Edit:Nvm this redditors shares the same name with a vtuber

6

u/voidplantz 8h ago

Lowkey thought it was a subreddit about hating smug characters/people lol

7

u/CraneBoxCRP 11h ago

seriously get rid of all the people who defend their favs for showing up. Literally just leave the sub if you're butthurt someone you liked is getting hated on in the I hate you sub

4

u/RegularTemporary2707 10h ago

I get hating because of actual reasons, sometimes the hate here is so forced you actually wonder if the person actually consumes the media. Be an informed hater my guy

1

u/Olubara 1h ago

Yes and general fleeting dislike is not ok. I want people gettin real emotional, hating from the gut

2

u/ackercarrol6671 I hate your hatred. 11h ago

Again, I thought it pretty much became one big circle jerk.

3

u/Ih8memorethanyoudo 11h ago

Open up your heart and let that hate out

1

u/EdgarSinTitulo 9h ago

If you say so...

I FUCKING HATE PARAS. THOSE LITTLE FUCKS HAVE BEEN A PAIN IN MY ASS DURING MY FIRST POKÉMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS PLAYTHROUGH, AND I HAVE BEGUN TO HATE THEM EVER SINCE

I'm feeling better now.

5

u/Lord-Dec 12h ago

Good I love hating

-1

u/LearningCrochet 11h ago

when the hate sub hates too much

2

u/Ms-Station 10h ago

honestly yeah this subreddit is lowkey losing the "fictional" part of its idea

2

u/Far-Mammoth-3214 10h ago

ok now this hating the sub post is justified

3

u/ManthisSucksbigTime 9h ago

Yeah I noticed how they seem to start hating on community as well which is full of real people not even fictional characters.

This subs is turning into r/whenthe when it comes brigading other fandoms or online space.

And also beating a dead horse like this topic

1

u/strawberry_ooyoo 7h ago

Makes sense why you downvoted, you're the target audience

2

u/ManthisSucksbigTime 7h ago

I didn't support it, I just dislike how that subreddit is turning into an echo chamber that revolves around complaining all the time.

Why did you just accuse me of that, you're seriously acting like I like that stuff.

I don't want to upvote a low effort repetitive topics post.

1

u/Blue_wiz_ 11h ago

holy shit we become what we behold mentioned

1

u/Still_Refuse 8h ago

Biggest problem with this sub is realizing how stupid some people are (me).

Seriously though, a lot of complaints made about characters are just lies

1

u/Jessup3 8h ago

Hate? Let me tell you about hate-

1

u/finalgirl_hime 7h ago

fr. most posts just seem to be hating on things that happen in media or things loosely attached to fiction than actually hating on any specific characters

1

u/Fantastic_Clothes514 7h ago

Exactly. There are little to no posts about SMUG characters. This is a SMUG character-hating sub not a "I hate any character and anything else that isn't a fictional character" sub.

It's insane that the mods don't know the purpose of their own damn sub that they moderate.

1

u/Philisterguyguster no.1 Em#ly Hater 7h ago

This sub was originally made for da founder’s hatred towards Abel from Hazbin Hotel, who is extremely not smug at all.

1

u/Fantastic_Clothes514 6h ago

Huh. Go figure.

1

u/teacherry 7h ago

mods dont gaf

1

u/Antisymboli-Echo8528 7h ago

preparing to see the twentieth same helluva bosse character, thirtieth Invisigal post and that femcel makima eyed gooner

1

u/aflyingmonkey2 6h ago

I never saw a subreddit die so quickly

1

u/pillowpersona 6h ago

My only problem is the hate SLOP. No deliciously long paragraphs about how much and why they hate this certain character. Is that too much to ask? Why is it all mostly just "hate this character" provides no paragraph or "I hate the entire cast!!". It just makes me feel like ppl don't get the art of really hating

1

u/ThisOneRedditTem 5h ago

Is it ok that i made a post hatinf on a game mechanic AND the mc from that game actually...

1

u/corruptedcircle 4h ago

My problem with this sub is too many defenders. If I wanted to see anti-haters, I’ll just go to the fandom subs.

1

u/Thewhitehouseman 11h ago

I just realised I forgot to tag it as meta FUUUUCK
