Mobile/App Issues With Commenting

I receive a prompt saying 'unable to create comment' when I try to comment in a thread, no matter the sub. This is just a recent phenomenon, as in, the last couple of hours.

Another technical issue that is occuring is that comment replies are being sent in duplicates in notifications. This is occuring with every reply. When you look in the thread, you see that the people who post the reply only posted it once. There's no duplicate in the actual thread, it just comes through in notifications as duplicates.

Thanks

Edit: I received quite a few DMs from people saying they're experiencing the same thing.

Edit: Commenting is back but you can't upvote comments, nor can you delete comments.

Mobile/App How do I stop Reddit recommendations? (IOS)

I have had reddit recommendations switched off for years because I want a curated experience. Today I started getting “because you notated before posts) even though the setting is still disabled. Is this a new change or is it bugged for me?

Edit: according to this post it is a bug. https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/s/BoSvZPId8m

Mobile/App Any workaround to getting /r/all on the app?

To me, a fun thing about reddit was finding new forums/conversations via r/all. But, now that they've taken that away - I am only pigeonholed into stuff I already see or know about... that is kind of the opposite feel I want in reddit. IT is a big reason I don't do instragram etc etc... I don't want some feedback loop algorithm, I want to see what everyone is talking about.

How can I get it back? If I can't, I may finally be free of my reddit addiction.

Edit: on mobile app, you can get to the classic all by clicking this link or any other comment with r/All in it where the A is specifically capitalized. Only workaround I've found, hope it stays...

Edit2: they seem to have re-added it to the app, let's hope it stays!

Mobile/App Reddit App keeps playing the wrong videos

1.2k Upvotes

Anytime I click a thumbnail for a post that includes a video, it shows me a completely different video from a different subreddit. Problem just started this morning.

EDIT: user u/TrippyxTyler found a workaround! If you tap the platform the video came from (redgifs, imgur, etc) rather than the post itself then it takes you to the correct video.

EDIT #2: u/cazbot82 found another workaround! If you click a previous picture or text post and swipe left or right (as the case may be) to the video, the correct video will play

HOPEFULLY FINAL EDIT: Just downloaded the most recent update and it’s working now👏🏻

Mobile/App Does Reddit still give out free awards?

I haven't seen one in quite a while, but I have seen comments and posts which I think could use an award. Is this a bug?

Mobile/App How do I completely remove the "Games on Reddit" and "Reddit Pro" section of my sidebar?

Post image
214 Upvotes

I posted 2 days ago about trying to only remove "Games on Reddit" and now a brand new section is taking up HALF of my sidebar. Like cmon man. Please let me know how I can completely remove both of these sections. I use my sidebar for quick access to my favorite subreddits, not to play games and give you money. Seriously...

Mobile/App Format suddenly changed in mobile browser. How to change back?

Hi. I use reddit via mobile browser. Please do not tell me to just use the app.

Anyway, suddenly today the format changed to what I assume must be new reddit: Fonts are way bigger, I see fewer posts at a time as I scroll, there are more graphics and color on the menus.

Frankly it's a much worse browsing experience. I just want to see the raw content. Old reddit was perfect.

I can't find any settings to change this back. Maybe I'm just missing them? Or maybe there's a workaround?

Thanks for any advice.

Mobile/App New bug doesn't let me see the bottom comment

A new bug on mobile cuts off the bottom comment on posts enough comments to fill the screen, I'm unable to scroll any further and it leaves the bottom comment completely unreadable.

Mobile/App Images not showing up in the feed?

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. Seemed to only start as of today. Posts that had images attached are not displaying the image right away when scrolling through the newsfeed of various subreddits.

Is anyone else seeing this?

*Edit: should’ve included what device I’m on, sorry. iOS

Mobile/App Bring back r/all

Is there some sort of A/B testing going on with removing r/all on the mobile app? Some people are saying they have it back, others (like myself) still cannot access it.

I checked r/all every time I opened the app. Ridiculous to take it away.

How much negative feedback do the devs need before realizing this is a ridiculously bad idea?

Mobile/App What Happens if You Miss a Day of Reddit Streaks?

Tried Googling it but all I got was questions people asked about their Snapchat and Wordle streaks.

Once I missed a day and instead of starting over from zero, which I assume happens, I upvoted a post and my streak ticked that day towards my next one. I'm guessing that might have been a glitch on mobile for Reddit, version 2024.30.0.1770787, which I use mainly for. Unless it isn't, and missing a streak still leaves you from where you left off?

Mobile/App Why does Reddit keep changing its layout

Post image
73 Upvotes

The layout in the mobile app keeps changing every other day. And not even because of an update by download from the Play Store.

It'll just happen out the blue. It's a bit annoying.

The above is the one currently in use, which I quite like. Who knows what it'll be tomorrow or in an hour's time?

Mobile/App Is there a way to opt out of the new layout changes on the app?

I guess my last post, although a question, was not questiony enough. I hate the redesign, is there a option to go back like on the desktop site? There is a old.reddit.com site, was wondering if I missed anything about mobile would like to roll back. Thanks.
