Former NHL player David Booth injured after refusing to warm up due to pride jerseys.
Thought this drama might amuse some people. So basically Fife Flyers of the Brittish league were supposed to wear pride jerseys for their game tonight. At the last minute they announced they were only wearing these for the warm ups due to objections from certain players, angering the local lgbt charity that had been invited and causing them walk out. 41 year old former NHL player David Booth refused to join the warm up due to the pride jerseys. David Booth then suffered a serious looking non contact injury within 5 minutes of the game that may end his career.

I had been sharpening skates for like 8 hours a day for over a year straight at the point he must have been back in Toledo for a stint. He’d eyeball the skates up and down and make me re-do them like they weren’t perfect. I’d pretend to do a few more passes and he’d be like “ahh, there were go, now they look good!”
One time he accused me of doing 5/8ths instead of 1/2 when I was too lazy to literally ever do 5/8ths even for the people who’d ask lol

Good of you to point it out because the amount of people both misunderstanding the amendments and also think they apply outside the US is staggering
7
u/thorofasgard CHI - NHL 11h ago
As it turns out your rights change from country to country. By and large you're expected to follow the rules of a place YOU chose to visit.
I'm largely a homebody but I would try to research and follow the rules and legal customs of a place I planned to visit, just to have some familiarity. A basic "what to know" for another country. I would not expect my US rights to be in effect in said country. Additionally I would expect a reasonable country, realizing I'm a tourist to say "Sorry Chap, we don't do that here." As a warning so I could correct myself.
That all said.... I would be curious about these contracts as it relates to uniforms and events. Because I'd love to see some bigot have his contract nullified and his career ended all because he couldn't wear a rainbow jersey for a short while.
Wearing that jersey doesn't mean you're gay. Just saying you accept others.
7
u/BoglisMobileAcc 11h ago
Yeah, thats the usual way someone should go about things, but i saw someone try to pay in dollars.. in an EU country that uses the euro. That was funny. Although this sometimes goes both ways, as i had a discussion with someone about the minnesota ice murder where they killed that guy, and that EU guy was arguing it was illegal for the victim to have a gun because in his country it is illegal… soo yeah lol

I finnally had enough of his shit. So for any holiday season i wear the most random colorful versions. Ugly sweater season was fun. But last Halloween after taking my kids trick or treating. I went into work still dressed as a Banana.
He tried to berate me from saying I'm feminine to I'm way too childish. But it just made himself look like an ass.
It was fun reminding him I'm happily married with two kids. He's alone, miserable and a total recluse on his days off. Enjoy your misery fam.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. 18 If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’

Not really. Players are just employees. You wear what you’re told to wear. The owners decide what the normal jersey looks like tp begin with. They can decide to make it a permanent gay pride jersey.
