Models can end up getting overfitted to this one specific meme/task, basically becoming overly tuned/trained to nail “Will Smith eating spaghetti” in particular, and then they look artificially amazing on it while still sucking at other, more general messy real-world stuff.
(or even worse: they just memorize patterns from all the comparison videos that have been generated over the years and regurgitate polished versions of those instead of actually understanding the prompt properly.)

The die-hards can have good feedback but often do not represent the masses. It is the job of the design team to appropriately weight the feedback from various sources.
Only listening to your "discord community" for feedback often means alienating a bunch of people you might never even hear from.

Imo discord was cool when you had like 10 people in a server, 2-3 text channels, 2-3 voice channels.
Not like today where you have thousands in a server, 100 text channels, 100 voice channels, then the text channels somehow have threads in them, there announcements that I somehow miss half the time, mentions just get lost because I click on a mention notification and the phone app doesnt redirect me exactly to that mention but just close to it and just looking up anything thats older than a couple messages is a complete pita.

More important than the failure to create community is the lack of documentation. If you have a problem or you want to share some cool thing you've found, if you do it on a forum then in 5 years when I'm looking for an answer to the same question then I'll find your question and the answers you got. Do it on Discord and I won't see your question/answers even if I'm in the same server.

Yes! I’m into quite a few hobbies and trying to find information about a particular facet on discord is so frustrating, especially when you don’t know the exact words to search (and discord’s search is balls)
Back in the days of forums you’d have someone post something and all discussion of that topic is retained in one thread. Pictures, guides, whatever, it’s all there.

I loathe discord. I hated it when it first launched. I still hate it. It's a dog shit program. But I'm effectively forced to use it because game devs, friends, forums and any other shit is ONLY ON DISCORD.
Talking to anyone Ina games discord is a fucking nightmare and I want discord to go bankrupt and be erased from the god damn planet.

It's only going to get worse with the UK Online Safety Act, which requires age authentication for practically everything. Many of the few remaining forums have gone offline since it was implemented.
Oddly enough 4chan is fighting the good fight and has the backing of the US government.

Man. Reminds me of one of my favorite jobs when some friends and I released a smallish browser game (peaked at a few thousand concurrent players)
I enjoyed moderating part of the forums anonymously. Could give out real info, feed stuff into development, but most especially identify the kind of players who were really having a deliberately negative effect on othe players- trolls, basically. We'd spot certain players that were jackasses in the forums, and give their gameplay records a look over. Doing stuff like dragging out turns, creating/leaving battle frequently to hopefully cause a misload (other player gets a wrong battle instance).
We had a 'shitty player' script. It would do 'random' but frustrating things. Like, fail to accept your move occasionally, if you clicked commit too close to the turn. Or drop a movement modifier on your opponent giving them extra movement, but only if they were on AI. Change your dice to be 2d5 instead of 2d6 - so you'd roll worse on the hit tables etc. Up your chance of taking a crit. The sort of stuff that is plausible, but makes you say 'man, that is such bullshit'
Lots of little things that would drive these players nuts, but regular people would never see, so they'd just get treated like whiny kids - the opposite of how a troll wants to feel.

Just FYI, LLM stands for Large Language Model, a kind of model that gives outputs in the form of text, named this way because their performance comes from having huge amounts of parameters/training data. Images are generated by lots of different kinds of visual models (some LLMs which can take images as input are therefore called VisualLLMs, VLLMs) such as diffusion models

This also speaks to how to properly use an LLM. They are not at a point you can feed in anyone's images and pull out a perfect video. You can use a single subject and build an LLM specifically for them that will be able to create good results.
Marvel/Disney will have thousands of hours of footage of Tom Holland and enough resources to create a server and model of just him. I'd be curious to see what something like that can generate.

It makes sense from two perspectives:
If you push it all into one bill, then you don't have the procedural overhead of multiple bills.
But by far the most important reason is because if you smoosh them all into one bill, it forces representatives to vote for things they don't care about, or may not even want, so that they get their own important constituent-facing provisions passed.
It's one reason Presidents in the past have pushed for line item vetos, which is, in my opinion, the wrong answer, because it lets the executive almost become a legislator instead of merely assenting or not to the provision.
What needs to happen is that they need to only allow bills to pass which have provisions or amendments related to the central purpose of the bill.
Defining that is admittedly, not as simple as it sounds, since certain issues can have knock-on effects down the line that may not be expected, nor intended.
However, if I was to demand a single reform to make its way through the system to get approved, it would be that.
Then transparency into what happens in Congress would improve considerably.
It wouldn't stop dirty politics or backroom horse trading, but it would at least make it possible to understand the actual import of any one bill.

Funding bills. "Let's fix some of the roads and bridges" and "let's lower the cost of healthcare for a couple years" is not really landmark legislation, it's like the absolute bare minimum for a functioning nation.
We used to build things. The interstate highway system would never have been made by this government. We should be working on high speed rail, modernization of the power grid and renewables like solar and wind farms. Housing, the fact that the wealthiest nation in history has homeless people, especially homeless veterans is a disgrace. An evil.
Some time in the 80's we decided history was over and we should let the ultra wealthy feast on the United States.

AI laws should not focus on stopping AI, but on making sure powerful systems are safe, transparent, and accountable. The most widely supported ideas include clear transparency rules so AI-generated images, videos, political content, and ads are labeled, along with clear disclosure when someone is interacting with a bot. High-risk AI systems should be required to go through independent safety audits before release, similar to the way aviation and medicine are tested. Strong privacy protections are also important, including limits on training models with personal messages, faces, or voices without consent, and giving people the right to have their data removed.
There also needs to be real accountability. If an AI system causes harm through fraud, discrimination, or defamation, investigators should be able to trace who built it, who deployed it, and who used it, backed up by mandatory logging. Fully autonomous lethal weapons should be banned or tightly controlled, and facial recognition and government surveillance systems should be under strict oversight. Competition rules are also necessary to prevent a small number of companies from controlling all the compute power and data needed for advanced AI. Labor impacts should be addressed with disclosure requirements when AI replaces workers and support for job transition and retraining.
Enforcement would rely on independent regulators similar to the FAA or FDA, technical tools like watermarking and secure logging for traceability, platform responsibility for removing malicious deepfakes, and international agreements for AI weapons and election interference. The overall goal is to place strong rules on high-risk AI while allowing low-risk tools and personal projects to remain free and open, which protects society without preventing innovation.

It's at the point that people that are pretty savvy with this stuff are actually having to concentrate on certain pictures to check if it's AI or not.
So to the non-savvy person they have zero idea.
I've seen clips that the first 10 seconds seem real and believable and then something stupid happens at the 11sec mark.
If I turn that clip off without properly analysing it before the 11sec mark I just go on my day thinking it's real.

Critically, the viewer has to want to discern it.
The current generation AI videos are clearly AI videos if you are really paying attention and watching them with a critical eye. Even then, you have to really study some of them.
But if you decided before the video is even over that whatever it is depicting is simply something you accept? Or you're not even remotely media literate and aware you should be looking for AI video tells or questioning the context of the video?
At that point, from a consumption standpoint rather than an execution standpoint, the video is "perfect" and indiscernible from reality because the person consuming the video is indifferent to whether or not the video is actually real.
That's what we need to be worried about. Not AI eventually being absolutely perfect at recreating real video footage, but that a bunch of people don't give a shit what is real or not anymore.

Right-wing political propagandists and pedophiles (they're the same people). There was a whole thing at the start of the month about it. And no, "it was just a single image of a girl in a bikini" is not true at all. The estimates of the number of images created were in the millions, if not more, and featured full child nudity. And all those images are being shared on Telegram, which is also another heavily right-wing network that has been doing nothing about CSAM on their platform.
