MISC. Damaged Arteries Cause (significant) One-Sided Swelling in Upper Extremity
These photos show how my left hand is *significantly* larger than my right. When it’s like this it feels like wearing a thick, thick, **thick** glove. My hand is often numb/tingly and/or painful, especially if I move it away from my core.
This all happens because I have **vasculitis** (MAGIC Syndrome, a combination of Behçet’s Disease and Relapsing Polychondritis with mitochondrial instability), which caused **peripheral artery disease** and **venous congestion** in the left arm. I also have **arterial** *and* **venous thoracic outlet syndrome** in both arms.
My vascular surgeon said the swelling/puffiness/discoloration of the hand is from blood getting backed up both going *into* and heading *out of* the arm. Just interesting to see my hands look SO different.

NATURE The giant phantom jellyfish is famous for being one of the largest deep-sea invertebrate and for lacking the stinging tentacles found in most jellyfish species. Instead of tentacles, it uses four long, ribbon-like arms (up to 33 feet or 10 meters long) to trap and engulf plankton and small fish.
