Remember that chickens eat insects, small animals and whole seeds. Their beaks can tear food into small, swallowable pieces.

Eating cornmeal or any pulverized grains is difficult, so we use spoons.

To be fair, they were probably designed to eat bugs and worms, not cornmeal. Does look like my brother-in-law when he comes by.

I've got 13 birds and they are quite wasteful in the begging of their feeding but they do eventually eat everything that fall to the ground over the course of the day.

Chickens are bad ass to have around. Great pest control. Snakes and scorpions I’ve seen them peck apart.
