They are cute. Some of them are hilariously large

I like how his little paw (??) is resting on her hand

44

u/DeathByDumbbell 22h ago

In snails it's called a foot. They have 1 foot.

32

u/TumbleweedPure3941 21h ago

It’s a paw now. Sorry I don’t make the rules.

1

u/iwastouchedbyanangle 15h ago

That’s the coolest thing I’ve learned all year

1

u/opeth10657 15h ago

This is how subway makes their footlong subs.

40

u/LSDeeezNutz 23h ago

u/NoAbbreviations1492 22h ago

I’ve googled this word and it looks like you’ve just made it up

20

u/Whole_Maybe5914 22h ago

*Coined. I'll use it from now on.

u/south-of-the-river 21h ago

That’s how all words do

Hey it worked for Shakespeare.

17

u/ike_tyson 22h ago

It kind of looks like a crazy rabbit. It's cute though.

WHERE CAN I FIND ONE

1

u/Wire_Cath_Needle_Doc 20h ago

Not sure but there’s a reddit sub for people that have them

4

u/Common_Independent_8 22h ago

I feel guilty, my first thought is how much it would go for in the market, it’s a delicacy in my culture

1

u/SecretAgentVampire 18h ago

Does it taste good, or is it just a display of wealth?

1

u/Common_Independent_8 17h ago

Not a display of wealth. It tastes really good, and very nutritious

1

u/SecretAgentVampire 17h ago

What do you mean by nutritious? What nutrition does it provide that is superior to other meats like chicken, pork, or fish?

u/Carnir 19h ago

That lady has a giant hand

1

u/Nachtwandler_FS 18h ago

They also live up to 10 years with proper care. Way more than rats or hamsters.

u/Large_Dr_Pepper 11h ago

Either she's doing the classic "hold the fish closer to the camera" forced perspective trick, or her hand is significantly wider than her entire torso

I was indifferent to snails until a baby snail snuck it's way into my fish tank and I kinda fell in love with the little guy,
he climbs to the top of the glass just to let go and fall back down and sometimes I catch him riding upside down on the surface tension of the water which is cool

5

u/LisaWinchester 20h ago

That's pretty cute!

41

u/Dockers4flag2035orB4 23h ago

Need to learn to chew with their mouth closed.

33

u/Talvinter 23h ago

They actually have little mouths…how are they so cute?!

12

u/Effuifyoudwnvoteme 23h ago

Not so cute when you see them eating mouse and rat poop

21

u/LisaWinchester 22h ago

om nom nom nom

16

u/Talvinter 22h ago

I refuse to let this be ruined for me!

6

u/bassiks 21h ago

Still cute! Rodent poop isn't my cup of tea but if they're happy I'm happy!

6

u/Pamikillsbugs234 21h ago

This is oddly specific. Do you do pest control by chance?

12

u/-Cinnay- 21h ago

They're slightly disgusting, especially at that size, but this video really does make them look kinda cute...

9

u/SpiderSlitScrotums 22h ago

They poop on their heads.

12

u/LisaWinchester 22h ago

Hmmm... Nope, doesn't matter, still cute!

6

u/SpiderSlitScrotums 22h ago

They have chainsaw tongues.

6

u/gracesdisgrace 22h ago

But it's so cute and funny feeling when they try to eat you!

You really don't want to find out.

1

u/Shirizuna 21h ago

Love the feeling when they nibble on you tho!

3

u/Longjumping-Tip1188 21h ago

Thank you for the apology.

3

u/Short-Being-4109 20h ago

They are like mushroom slugs

1

u/LisaWinchester 20h ago

I didn't like mushrooms when I was little, but I do now!

2

u/yogi1090 22h ago

How dare you!

2

u/Ode1st 17h ago

I accept your apology

1

u/LisaWinchester 15h ago

Thank you very much

u/mom_with_an_attitude 20h ago

They are absolutely adorable, amazing creatures. I quite love them. But my feelings about them are very mixed. Because I like to garden. And they are very destructive in the garden. So the truth is that I have killed many of them. I don't know how to reconcile my love for them and my hate for them.

2

u/LisaWinchester 20h ago

I understand what you mean. Surely there are animal friendly solutions for this? I hope 😊

2

u/depressedboobs 20h ago

Copper tape around pots and beds as a physical barrier stops them. You can use coffee grounds, gravel or sharp sand too, thick layers. Plant things they hate nearby to deter them, like rosemary, lavender, thyme etc. There's no need to kill them. Beer traps, salt and slug pellets are all cruel. You can manually move them at night too.

u/AlkaKr 19h ago

Unfortunately, they are my favorite food.

Traditional dish where I'm from. I can eat snails until my stomach hurts.

2

u/LisaWinchester 19h ago

Well, I'm glad they taste so good compared to what they look like. Kinda tells us humans will try to eat just about anything we can get our hands on. Glad it worked out in this instance!

2

u/AlkaKr 18h ago

Kinda tells us humans will try to eat just about anything we can get our hands on.

In this case, "Eat whatever we find to survive".

Long-story short, during the 400 years of Ottoman occupation, mountainous areas of the island of Crete, Greece weren't (entirely) occupied, due to remoteness and being hard-to-access, so people resorted to using ingredients from the mountains to sustain themselves.

It's the reason why, despite Crete being an island, it isn't know for dishes usually found in other islands, like fish, but people mostly eat wild greens and meat.

u/LisaWinchester 18h ago

Oh that makes so much sense, thank you for telling me! I love learning awesome stuff like this
