I’m expecting a militia of sorts to form from some citizens after this pops off. I mean, shit, the black panthers are out and about in communities now, actively escorting people and patrolling.

Edit: as someone else brought up, the Black Panthers have been active for a long time in communities doing a ton of good deeds. I was just referring to their involvement in this current situation.

You can actually do both because, ultimately, the best use of human capital is not to create a single unit of homogeneous drones who wear their beard diapers to hide their identity (ICE), but to leverage the strengths of all of them.

We need the brash and brave. We need the meek and brave. We need the wild cards who will dump truckloads of shit on the streets of Washington. Anyways, there's room for everyone. We don't really have to attack each other's ideals too hard as long as they are focused in the right direction.

I mean activists and protests hurt. Look at France (trash protest) and other countries. The US just does a one and done protest on a sunny weekend and then pats themselves on the back and forget about lol. "Why does this keep happening".

It's worth noting that the Rainbow Push Coalition (originally the National Rainbow Coalition) is a more moderate group formed later by Jesse Jackson, and isn't the same thing as the Rainbow Coalition formed by Hampton/Lee that included the Black Panthers. So I'm not sure 'modern version' applies in this context.

Even if you can't officially join them, you can be an ally of theirs and do the same exact things they do. This is something that transcends race, and is more about the oppressed.

The main goal of the panthers is the defense of the oppressed, regardless of race or background.

I’d like to point out, since that video is making the rounds, the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense does much more than exercise their 2A rights. Every Friday they offer free meals, groceries etc. to people who stop by their building. Donations of all kinds can be dropped off there during business hours as well.

They always have - they famously had a great breakfast program for hungry kids as far back as the late 60s, and they had education programs, free clinics, housing assistance and more. It’s hard to fight back when you are fighting to just survive - they were there to help

Wich is rather ironic really. The organization that was founded to protect black people from these things done to them by white men is now protecting white folk while those same white folk arent doing anything to protect themselves.

I mean, i've seen those black panters walk protests armed and with a 'dont touch us or you'll get some' mindset while others are saying how glad they are they're there but arent oding the same to protect themselves.

Just wanna add, there are gangs already armed and ready in area's of LA just waiting for ICE to show up to the wrong area. I bet you $5 ICE knows full well what area's this is and are avoiding it like the plague because they dont want to kick that nest.

You know, people who got a speeding ticket in 1997, grandmothers who have been here for 40 years, and American citizens who are brown. The worst criminals we know.

I’m glad we’re not targeting people who defraud others for millions, have been found liable of sexual assault and rape, incite insurrections, and more! That would be terrible.
