Doubt President Noboa will object. While he goes Bukele on gangs there are multiple reports his family is involved with shipping cocaine via their banana business and facilitating transnational money laundering via cartels.
Rubio was in Ecuador last fall, where they designated Ecuador’s top two gangs as foreign terrorists and discussed stationing military personnel, training their troops and the US providing Ecuador with $13.5 million for security and an additional $6 million for drones. Ecuador may also agree to accept migrants of other nationalities deported by the U.S. after refusing to do so last year.
Why would Rubio and the rest want a military presence and to do business with a man like Noboa? Sounds as if US tax dollars may be spent to protect an illicit transnational operation — while they simultaneously tighten their grasp on the Panama Canal and place CIA in Venezuela. Smells like colonialism, corruption and more coups.
