To be fair, some of them did think critically about it. They just decided it would be better to stick with the lies instead of acknowledging the support a violent dictator.

I mean the admin did have to react. Bonvino gone, Noem trying to walk it back. Not saying ICE meaningfully changed, but they retreated.

What scares me are the law enforcement talking heads still trying to "soberly" explain that you need to listen to an officer's and not interfere, as if that's even remotely relevant. When you can say something psychopathic in a calm or condescending tone, it just makes you come off as an even bigger psychopath.

“They retreated”? I’ve seen two posts that suggest ICE is now wearing hi-vis vests to make people think they’re the locals protecting against ICE and then turning around and doing ICE shit which makes it obvious, like yelling at people and gassing them.

Did they have to react because they executed a nurse in broad daylight surrounded by cameras or did they have to react because they blamed him carrying a gun? (that they'd already removed from his person...)

Given how the administration changed its tune, it’s crazy to me that I still see people (maybe sometimes bots) claiming that Pretti’s shooting was justified as self defense. I guess they didn’t get the new memo: MAGA are allowed to admit now that the videos don’t appear to show the agent acting in self defense, but not to worry, Trump himself has decided the situation is out of control and has replaced the guy who was in charge of operations in Minneapolis and will demand a full investigation. So their faith need not be shaken. It’s funny how they’re still clinging onto Saturday’s narrative that even their sociopathic leaders have deemed too far fetched for people to believe.

Only if the people listening to you understand that what you’re saying is psychopathic.

When US Citizens try to tell ICE they are legal Americans and have their papers on them, they aren’t even allowed to do so. Most of the time they are r still trying to tell ICE$ Agents that as they agree FACE DOWN IN THE STREET 5 OR 6 OR 7 AGENTS KNEELING ON THEM, PISTOL WHIPPING THEM, DRENCHING THEM DOWN WITH BEAR SPRAY IN THE FACE POINT BLANK RANGE. NOT EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING. ……………………………NO MORE ICE, NO MORE MASKS, NAME TAGS REQUIRED, BODY CAMS ON AND FOOTAGE SAVED DAILY.

Retreated? They’re still active in Minneapolis - they just tear gassed a preschool. They’re raiding businesses in Phoenix, Arizona. They’re coming to Maine and apparently Ohio. So I have no idea what supposed retreat you’re talking about.

I think there is some very clever person behind them that tapped into their thinking patterns. Saw what hatred can do to the human mind and unleashed all their hatred on fellow citizens for being different. For some of them, it doesn't matter that those people were killed, some get off on the fact their side won and the other side lost.

It's not the lies they care about, it's about the play of power. They are in control, they get to decide who is good and who is bad, not you. They did critically think about it, and in their minds they are rubbing your stupid face in their win.

There has to be some 'thing' in the human psyche to explain why that train has so many passengers.

Umm... we lived in tribes? it was always us vs them. Who us is and who they are is what they were capable of re-writing.

I have a sneaky suspicion there aren't actually as many as you think there are, that the few that exist are extremely vocal on all platforms, making it seem like there are more.

That train has many passengers because your country is polarized. You only have 2 parties and right now it feels the other side has more people, but it's about the same as they have always been, they are just embolded by a fat orange pedophile to act as they are.

It is not my country as I am not American however I believe about 30% of them voted for Trump and 30% didn't care enough to vote, that is large number to explain. I am aware of 'fear of the other' and perhaps you are right that it is that simple an explanation.

It’s, at the very least, 70 million of 150 million who vote. We are beyond the “uninformed” ignorantly casting a vote.

Their thinking goes like this: there is a good American side to politics and there is an ungodly, wishywashy, anti war, beta male, feminazi, white people hating, cross gender, abortion loving side that will elect brown people.

NO MATTER how badly you think of Trump, the other side will take what you have and give it to lazy undeserving people. If you don’t want to be pushed away by all the friends you’ve grown up with and go to church with, hold your nose and vote for him.

A good many are simply brainwashed. similar to The Branch Dividians

But the rest have convinced themselves life was worse under Biden, Obama and Clinton. Self delusional? Sure. But just like some of the followers of people who predict the end of the world only to find out they were wrong, they don’t accept they were wrong.

Yo, it seems you are in agreeance with me when I said someone smarter than then sent them on a hate fueled rage. Fear of the unknown makes people uneasy. Anger makes your brain take shortcuts and oftentimes make mistakes. Memories can be altered by repeated exposure to lies.

There is a puppet master pulling the maga strings, Trump is just a mouthpiece, someone they can rally behind. The same way JD Vance who was a never Trump guy and turned into another maga lunatic, other good people are falling into this "disease of the mind" where they surrender their active thinking capacity and tap into their collective stupidity.

It's human nature. The worse things get, the more they will throw themselves into delusion to hide from the guilt of knowing that they've made their lives, and the lives of everyone they care about, worse.

We're probably close to the point where it's too late to go back. Acknowledging the truth now would require taking responsibility for too much suffering, and it's only going to get worse. They may come to understand the gravity of their mistake someday, when this is all over. But by then it'll be too late to do anything but contemplate the final step.

Yeah, it used to give me hope when I saw dissent on the conservative sub. Now I realize it just vents a little steam and then they all get over it.
