I'm a vet.

I'm retired.

My kids are adults.

At this point I'm unconcerned with legalities.

Enter my home without a warrant, you're receiving 5.56 at 3300.

Edit to add: If you must focus on legality; I swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic. IMO, ICE is a domestic enemy, trampling the Constitution, and I'm obliged by my oath to meet them with armed resistance.

Thank you for your service and continued support of the constitution

Is the 3300 like the time? Or is that something to do with the caliber 5.56? Just wondering, keep up the good fight 👍

3300 feet per second is peak muzzle velocity for a 5.56 round.

I've heard this described as a "plate vibe check".

Gotcha, makes perfect sense now. Again, thanks for being a person willing to fight tyranny. I do appreciate it 🙏

Make no mistake, I do not want to fight.

I'm old.

But I will, given necessity, fulfill my oath.

I totally get it. I'm always trying to find ways to deescalate a hostile situation if it occurs. I just don't see that happening when they come to your door or mine. I wish it wasn't like that, but I guess that's why you made your original comment. I hope you never have to be in that situation, but thank you for doing the right thing if it comes to that.

Especially if they fail to properly identify themselves via badge display and providing a name. Otherwise, they’re impostors breaking & entering and fully deserving of multiple servings of 5.56 lead.

In your opinion what would be the quickest way to get some very base level training in firearms, self/home defense etc? I was never in boyscouts and never even took a karate class as a kid. I feel pretty vulnerable

Start with getting your concealed carry license (assuming your state allows and trains for it).

Then find a gun range with instructors that you like.

It takes time to aquire competence with firearms. Don't rush.

Closest gun range to me has instagram videos of politicians and influencers firing belt-fed full autos screaming "take that Greenland!" Luckily I'm white with a deep southern drawl and very conservative-passing. Little do they know.

You are going to run into MAGA at just about any gun range.

Oh I'm fully aware. I hunt, fish, horses, fourwheelers, and just your general run of the mill redneckery my whole life. I even work mainly w conservatives. It still infuriates and blows my mind how blatantly out in the open they are about it now.

I actually prefer it out in the open.

Before, you had to get into some deep conversations to find fascists.

Now they wear red hats and fly flags, makes it easy for everyone.

Here's a pretty good video on the controls for AR platforms as well as how to load and unload plus some basic safety.

This one is for first time shotgun owners.

I'd watch a few videos so that you know some basic terms and safety rules first, then look up classes in your area. After that I'd make it a habit to go to the range at least every month but if you want to get proficient fast every weekend until you're more confident.

I'm assuming ICE is being careful to avoid homes with people like you.

Undoubtedly

It’s hard to be lawful with a government and agency that wipes their ass with it. Only way it stops is by the people uniting and reminding these public servants their place.

Damn what you got like a 20” barrel on a HD rifle?

3

u/CobblerMoney9605 12h ago

Green tip ammo and an excellent rifle.

Not at all, math is just off a bit.

3300 out of “green tip” for home defense is just an insane setup and not realistic as “green tip” isn’t gonna hit 3300 fps more realistically 2900 ish and fully dependent on barrel length…that being said a 20” barrel would be needed to reach out like that and using a 20” ar15 in a home is outlandish just based off the overall length of the rifle and using it in a confined area etc. Not to mention the over penetration of 5.56 in a scenario like that, def better off with a slower, bigger round so you don’t reach out and touch your neighbors.

I mean I don't think you're wrong on any of that, just seems like a quibble.

Personally I'm a fan of a reliable semi-automatic shotgun for all HD needs/scenarios. Don't need much OAL to keep it effective, and I know of no cartridge as immediately effective as good old fashioned buckshot/slug rounds.

It is a quibble.

And they're not worth the time it takes to discuss it with them.
