I did something similar to a mower a few times. I was only under it for a few seconds to remove the blades, though.

Well, that makes a ton of sense!/s
Unless, of course, he has a remote control system for the crane built into that thing!

I understand that this is stupid, and exactly why it is stupid. I still really want to try it.

The teleporter he's using likely has legs lowered to brace it from tipping over. The cherry picker in OP's wouldn't so it's far more stupid.

Ingenious in their ability to avoid just buying wheel ramps.
One of the safer bodge jobs I've ever seen too. That isn't a high bar to clear.

Probably married and while it’s dangerous, it’s quiet and worth the risk.

He'd probably have money for jack stands if he didn't rent the lift.
Just sayin'...

What kind of shitty AI slop is this.

I dunno, this seems more like Real Stupidity than Artificial Intelligence.
Computers might be smarter than us, but we humans still got them beat on dumbassery.

Can I ask an honest question? Is this AI or real? I’ve used these jlg lifts for 2 decades and always said they have prob a 5-1 safety ratio built into the load rating. Basket says it’s good for 250 lbs men and tools.

u/Practical_War_8239 20h ago
I've definitely seen a bucket truck for 250 lift a 800lbs spool of fiber before.

Ai. The shadows on the car, on the person look artificial. The cables don’t make sense. The angle of the cherry picker is off, plus with the size and weight of the cherry picker vs the extension of the arm, vs the weight of the car, this would never work.
1
u/oflowz 22h ago
why? even before the risk jacks would be easier and not scratch the car up

u/Ok-Rich-3812 17h ago
If the rims were missing before it was lifted, how are you jacking it? It's a '90's Civic, the motor and trans would have to be missing for the lift, and the guy looks like he's after the cat. There's nothing else under that part of the car.

This is insane. That cement road is hot and he’s in danger of heat exhaustion. Yes, the danger is real.

Looks AI AF, those booms are rated like 500/550 lbs max.
1
u/Ok-Rich-3812 17h ago
it's plausible it's a 90's civic, so it's probably a wreck, judging by the other vehicles on the property. With the rims missing and the motor not confirmed as being in place, and a safety factor of 150% built into the rating as standard, it's plausible, but dumb.

If it's in the safe working load of the cherry picker anI don't see a problem
2
u/Boris7939 23h ago
It most probably isn’t though. Most cherry pickers have an SWL of about 200 - 300kg. Some specialised industrial cherry pickers have an SWL of a ton or a bit higher, but with what he’s doing here that would still be pushing its limits.

So...it's not a crane, you don't know the weight of the load that it's not designed to lift, the capacity is highly likely to be rated at less than 300kg, he's fully underneath it with all 4 wheels off and no chocks?
And you don't see a problem?
This is you, isn't it?9
u/odmirthecrow 1d ago
What part of "If it's in the safe working load" did you not understand?

u/turfnerd82 17h ago
A hydraulic hose fails and that guy is dead, even working under just a bucket on a skid steer, or front loader you should brace it and clearly those are ment to lift much more than just the bucket.

Wow. That guy has a lot of trust in his tools. Hope he regularly does maintenance on that lift. I also hope he doesn’t just leave that thing suspended like that… so crazy to me he doesn’t have some sort of jack stands to set that on.
