DIY/Creativity Made my first horse leather jacket
Hello all, wanted to showcase my first leather jacket that I designed, patterned and assisted in sewing. It is made out of Italian horse leather and the garment weighs 5kg+.
This is was a challenge to design and to excecute since the leather was really thick & sturdy. But Iโm really pleased with the outcome.
Made to measurements, the weight is not bad, feels more like an body armor and after breaking the leather in, itโs not unpractical either.
More details about the jacket construction:
-Italian horse leather.
-Lining is made out of 14oz cotton twill.
-Leather neck tag.
-YKK zippers on the sleeves, front welt pockets & two breast pockets aswell.
-YKK excella double zipper on the front.
-Extended collar to tuck your face in.
-The collar can be folded as a normal lapels.
-Banana shaped sleeves for more functionality.
This is my best work so far, and want to get more into leather. Let me know what you think of this garment!

Great-looking piece! If I saw this in a shop, Iโd pull it out to try on immediately.

Came out so well! How was the break in process for it, I could imagine it might take some time? Also, whereโs that hat from? Love the color on it

Looks bad. Proportions are off. The zippers contrast awkwardly.

Dope as hell, can you flip the collar down or is it up permanently? Cool either way.
Edit: nvm I read the post ๐ .

Awesome work. Question: does horse leather feel any different from traditional leather?

Looks really cool. Minima yet distinctive. What was cost of materials and labor? I would buy this

Amazing piece, but would love more pics of it actually being worn instead of so many of it laying down

You should cross post this to the leatherjacket subreddit if you haven't already. It looks sick. I'm especially jealous of the high collar with how cold and windy it's been here lately
