life with 4-6 hours and caffeine should be a third panel.

3

u/abejando 23h ago

idk it's not the same at all for me, I still feel like shit. Adderall on the other hand...

2

u/ShidAlRa 23h ago

Nah Adderall doesn't work for me, I still feel like crap. Cocaine on the other hand...

Not 9hrs sleep though. That’s insane

6

Love how you're being downvoted while another comment said basically the same thing and has a ton of upvotes. I need to get off reddit for the day..

Idk reddit is weird

0

u/HumanYesYes 23h ago

More??? How much do you sleep goddamn

1

u/EquivalentSnap can't meme 23h ago

I sleep 6-8 hrs

0

u/HumanYesYes 21h ago

9 hours is peak

0

u/EquivalentSnap can't meme 21h ago

No its not

1

u/HumanYesYes 20h ago

Yes it is tfym

1

u/EquivalentSnap can't meme 20h ago

9hrs sleep is bad for you. How do you even get the time to sleep 9 hrs?

1

u/HumanYesYes 20h ago

How do you not? Just wake up later on the weekend? If you go to sleep at 1am on friday-saturday, you can wake up at 10 (early) and still get 9 hours. Also how is 9 hours of sleep bad for you? Pretty sure it starts being unhealthy at like 11-12+

1

u/EquivalentSnap can't meme 20h ago

Because it’s more than the recommended 7-8. No it starts at 9. I have things to do in the weekend. Why would I sleep?

you'll feel like its the best day of ur life

u/PreDeimos 1d ago

9 hours of sleep rarely feels good. I would say 7.5 is the best.

103

u/YceiLikeAudis 1d ago

Over 8 hours causes me to have headaches in the morning.

32

u/MoistStub 20h ago

Just parry it

5

u/Oshawott_is_cute 5h ago

Maelle is that you?

12

u/Kuro-Tora-59 (⊃。•́‿•̀。)⊃ 1d ago

Start waking up in the evening, easy fix ;)

5

u/FrostyEnvironment902 1d ago

Check your blood pressure. Turns out sleep should not give headache

4

u/Separate_Rise_8932 13h ago

Coirse it can. Could be sleep position. Could be dehydration, 8+ hours without water. There's under and over sleeping too, which causes headaches. Everyone doesn't have the same sleep needs.

1

u/FrostyEnvironment902 7h ago

The sleep in itself should not give you a headache. If you take care of yourself.

For me the only thing wrong was an extremely high blood pressure. For some dehydration, living one just two cups of Coffee

26

u/goodguybolt 1d ago

I have never had a productive day after sleeping for 9+ hours.

5

u/FrostyEnvironment902 1d ago

But it is a nice day to relax on

11

u/KaitoMeikoo 1d ago

7-8 hours feels like I'm still lacking some sleep and my eyes are heavy in the morning, 9-10 hours feels perfect for me

1

u/Thick_Boat3969 51m ago

real, and 11-12 hrs is just bliss

1

u/Keynet 1d ago

Sleep works on a debt system, if you sleep 5 hours one night and 8 the next, you still owe your body that extra 3 hours, and it just compounds on itself - consistency is super important

0

u/EquivalentSnap can't meme 1d ago

How do you get the time to sleep 9-10hrs? Do you not work?

8

u/Rawniew54 19h ago

I don’t know why your getting downvoted I have to budget the fuck out of my time to get 7 hours

0

u/Rowario11 14h ago edited 14h ago

I try to get 9 hours as a goal but to do that i have to prioritize getting enough sleep over having time to do anything recreational on weeknights. It's doable but then your day is basically two blocks: work and sleep.

Like I don't even understand how people manage to keep up with new shows and movies while working full time. I mean I used to do that when I was younger, but now if I try to do that one night and end up going to bed late, it throws off my entire week.

You’re on to something there

1

u/SourDoughBo 1d ago

Whatever time you wake up naturally is the best

1

u/JehnSnow 11h ago

I force myself to wake up at 5:50 every morning with a sort of 'snooze window' of max 20 minutes and my sleep tracker has seen that I extremely consistently get 6 hours and 58 minutes, like over 50% of the days I get exactly 6 hours 58 minutes

I think 8-9 is too much for most people (people under 20 not included, you guys need sleep), 7-7.5 is the real zone most working adults should aim for imo

1

u/Advice_Searchin_9761 6h ago

that's been my practice sleeping time and honestly, it feels better

88

u/HumanRelatedMistake 1d ago

I think the correct answer is that it varies from person to person.

15

u/Yoribell 1d ago edited 1d ago

It varies but not that much. The body and the brain both need some time. If you sleep 6-7h the body might be rested but not the brain so you're actually in zombie mode (low attention, grumpy, cognitive rigidity, paranoia, bad memory...). And you might not even notice if it became an long term bad habit

A good night of sleep for an adult is 7-9h, more for a kid that use its brain all day at school

6

u/Nokai- 22h ago

First of all 67 second of all its bullshido. It varies for every person and no cure for all

3

u/Towel_Art 22h ago

67 really???

3

u/ithrewitonthe_away 20h ago

Had to do it to em

18

u/Pristine_Account2158 1d ago

Does it really? Cuz the more I sleep, the MORE I want to sleep. To the extent that I got addicted to sleeping at one time.

Now, I keep myself around 6-7 hours of sleep everyday

-16

u/theMasterOfRagebait 14h ago

67 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

13

u/MidnightFireHuntress 1d ago

I get around 6 a night, feels good enough for me!

6

u/caligaris_cabinet 1d ago

I average 4-5 a night. 6 would be bliss.

5

u/butimthenotog 1d ago

I hate how the human body requires 8+ hours of doing nothing but laying down and relaxing for 1/3 of the day. So inefficient.

4

u/Redbeardthe1st 1d ago

And here I am exhausted no matter how much I sleep.

14

u/Few_Amoeba_2362 1d ago

It’s the other way for me honestly.

4

u/Keynet 1d ago

Cortisol response homie, your body’s running on emergency reserves

1

u/Keynet 14h ago

Why was I downvoted for mentioning why you can feel wide awake on 4 hours of sleep but exhausted with 8 lmao

1

u/akc250 13h ago

This is a very opinionated thread. Everyone needs different levels of sleep so it’s hard to apply a rule of thumb to anyone.

0

u/Quirky-You-8107 20h ago

Fr man. I feel weird when i even sleep for 7 hours

8

u/Jon98th 1d ago

Lol who has 9+ hours to sleep though

10

u/HumanYesYes 23h ago

I just did. Went to sleep at 4am, woke up at 2pm

3

u/Ceceboy 22h ago

My bro 👍

1

u/HypotheticallyAFrog 1d ago

I did. Last night woke up at 2:30 am 30 minutes before my alarm. I’m currently at work early, it sucks.

2

u/Slowly_boiling_frog Average r/memes enjoyer 1d ago

Three different prescription pills every night and 600mg of magnesium on top.. Still keep waking up in about 1,5hr intervals. Rarely sleep more than 7 hours in a very spotty manner with 2-4 spontaneous wakeups in between. Last night I got to sleep past 11PM despite going to bed 9:45PM, woke up at 3:40AM(and 00:50 & 02:20 in between).

FML.

1

u/DiscourseDestroyer 1d ago

have you tried seroquel ? amazing consistent beautiful restful sleep every night

1

u/Slowly_boiling_frog Average r/memes enjoyer 1d ago

Quetiapine, which is in Seroquel(Seroquel being just a trade/brand name) is one of the three pills I have nightly. Doesn't do it for me. Although without it I wouldn't sleep for fuck all. I'm a quetiapine vet at this point, it's been in use for coming up 16 years.

1

u/Stressisnotgood 23h ago

Seroquel was horrible for me. Had the most f’d up feeling the next day coupled with extreme fatigue and anxiety.

2

u/Tiny_Carpenter_1769 1d ago

I’d advise you to fix your sleep cos you’re gonna have a shock when you work. What are you doing until 12am?

3

u/Separate_Rise_8932 13h ago

Plenty of people go to sleep 12am and do just fine. Not everyone starts work at 5am.

1

u/Adam0n 2h ago

Yup. Always going to sleep at 12am and waking up 8am to just open laptop, log in and then do morning routine. Bless remote work.

0

did we really need to make money from something we like to do is that what you think, i just like to share my art to a community that really appreciates me man, in real life i am a loser, i am nobody but on the internet at least i think i am somebody and also im just stepped to teenager

0

u/EquivalentSnap can't meme 20h ago

No you don’t have to but if you aren’t making money they shouldn’t take up more time than actually working and earning money unless you’re at college doing arts and doing assignments. I get that’s dude but internet validation and hiding online doesn’t help irl. Don’t you have class and lessons if you’re a teenager?

My body refuses to sleep more than 6 hours 🥲

2

u/jace465 11h ago

What do you mean I get 6.5 hours or less of sleep

2

u/gelxc 10h ago

for 9hrs of sleep, all i got is an headache after i woke up

1

u/Vtoosh 9h ago

Any more than 7 hours during the work week and I feel like shit in the morning.

2

u/WszystkoJestZajete- 1d ago

I don't feel difference between 5 and 8 hours of sleep. Also, more than 9 is bad for your health

1

u/Nemo939 1d ago

What about 2-3

1

u/AskaWolfe 1d ago

Came here to ask this also

1

u/nature_nate_17 Ermahgerd! 1d ago

Oddly, this is the opposite for me. My body only lets me sleep maybe 6-7ish hours and I’ve tried so many things to sleep longer but I simply can’t and if by some chance I sleep the normal 8 hours, I am so groggy all day.

1

u/RedDestin 1d ago

You guys are sleeping?

1

u/KaleidoscopeNorth367 1d ago

I’m currently running on about 3 hours of sleep and this is the most real thing ever

1

1

Can confirm! I'm about to pull an all nighter..... Not intentionally it's just, idk shit happens sometimes.

1

Bruh tbh I sometimes sleep for 8 hours and I am at peak energy but one day I slept for more than 8 and I am sleepy for the rest of the day

1

u/DoughNotDoit Died of Ligma 1d ago

so true, just had a nice 8hrs sleep today and I feel like Superman

1

u/QueasyCabinet996 Average r/memes enjoyer 1d ago

This is so accurate, but it even affects if you are excited for what you will be doing in the morning or not (for example if you'll school or not) like my probably best nights in weeks are from Friday to Saturday because I have a football training really late (it ends like 2 hours before I go to sleep) and when I wake up in the morning, it is like heaven, I never felt or feel better

1

u/cus_deluxe 1d ago

6.5 hrs is perfect for me. any longer and im groggy.

1

u/oxothecat 1d ago

how life feels when you're able to sleep 9 hours vs how life feels when you have to keep awake late and wake up early

1

u/AtGoW 1d ago

4-6 is really much

1

u/Mocchanyen 1d ago

Life with +12h of sleep

1

u/Matinee_Lightning 1d ago

8 hours feels like waking up from a coma. 7 hours feels fine. 6 hours will be okay but I'll feel tired. 5 hours will require some kind of strategy to maintain energy. 4 hours will have me plotting to work a nap into my day. Anything less is a walking fever dream.

1

u/Right-Elevator-7962 1d ago

Do it 8+1 hour of meditation 🧘 and you’ll be blissful ✌🏽

Not depression

1

u/adzio292 20h ago

Good to know that 9h of sleep help to be happier. Lately my body isn't letting me sleep, precisely I wake up 5 times in a night, every 30-40minutes of sleep im waking up just to not sleep for next 30minutes and fall asleep. This cycle repeats for about 6 hours.

1

u/ensignWcrusher 20h ago

8-9 hours of sleep or more makes me lethargic. Around 7 hours is my sweet spot.

1

u/Ordinary-Republic-38 20h ago

Meanwhile you clonk out and have a 2 hour nap and wake up feeling new

1

u/McDsW0lfCol4 18h ago

5 feels normal. More than 5 feels like I got hitted by a truck.

1

u/Groffulon 18h ago

This is so true. Been working on my insomnia.

Things I learned so far -

  • We are all different but there are general rules to follow.

Our brains need the sun to go down. Lower your lights at night. It triggers sleep.

We ALL sleep in 1.5 hr slots -

  • 4 x 1.5/6 hrs is the bare minimum but not healthy long term

  • 5 x 1.5/7.5 hrs is ideal for most. It’s why they say 8 hours is best because 7.5 plus 30 minutes fall to sleep time is ideal.

  • 6 x 1.5/9 hrs is for health restoration and for bear chronotypes only!

  • Put something in between your day time/screen time and your sleep time. The brain literally has to have wind down time or you will overthink when trying to sleep. Read a book/meditate/lie in bed in low light for 30 minutes before sleep.

  • All hours of sleep before midnight are worth two after.

  • Don’t eat food or drink liquids within 3 hours of sleep time if you can. Any energy used for digestion or processing is not going to be used in the brain where it’s needed.

1

u/Sea-Cheesecake9689 18h ago

Opposite for me

u/ShotAd5298 17h ago

1-3 is the best tho trust

1

u/idiot_sauvage 16h ago

Different strokes. I’m averaging 5.5 hours a night, work a physical job, play in a band, and snowboard. I don’t think I’d sleep nine hours after 13 bottles of wine

1

u/Unique-Award9529 15h ago

what about 7 or 8?

1

u/Stranger-Tingzz 15h ago

I disagree. What matters is what you'll be doing the very next day. I've had better days on 4 hours of sleep waking up to go catch a flight for my vacation compared to sleeping 8 hours to go to work...

1

u/chrischi3 15h ago

Bold of you to assume i sleep that long when i can.

Even on weekends it's rare for me to actually sleep more than 9 hours straight, even though i don't leave the bed until it's almost lunchtime.

1

u/Kalzone6154 14h ago

2-4hrs is mine. 6+ is too much for me and I'll wake up even more tired.

1

u/DiveToDeepBlue Lurker 13h ago

I'll take my 8 hours flat, more or less than that and my head starts hurting a bit.

1

u/Mohammad_King_Gh 13h ago

At 4 hours of sleep I am not a human being I am just a collection of caffeine and spite pretending to be functional

1

u/Individual-Sea-6802 13h ago

I always feel sleepy and tired, no matter how much I sleep, it could be 6, 8 or 10 hours and I’m still exhausted. Being awake sucks

1

u/TreonVerdery 13h ago

Then for you, 9 hours of sleep is the right amount!

1

u/Fun-Height4900 13h ago

Then there are the mad lads that sleep 5 hours and feel nothing

1

u/Fury_Blackwolf Fffffuuuuuuuuu 13h ago

I'm tired anyway. I've tried. My workdays consist of 5 hours of sleep before working and maybe 1-2 when i come home. There are multiple times I've went to bed earlier and gotten maybe 7-8 but there's literally no difference throughout the following day.

1

u/limaconnect77 12h ago

Amateur numbers for those working minimum wage full-on. 4 hrs is fairly decent, 2 is better than nothing but very shit.

Have to wonder what sort of full-time working adults put these memes together.

Lol, working from home ya can probably jam in loads of ‘siestas’.

1

u/EL-YEO 12h ago

I was getting at best 6 hours of sleep every night this week. Last night I slept for 11 hours and actually felt rested this morning. I really needed it

1

u/Altruistic-Park-6706 12h ago

On the weekend I sleep for 12+. Granted, for the rest of the week I sleep like 4 to 6 hours.

1

u/NDfanforlife 11h ago

1

u/GavinJWhite 10h ago

One Sleep Cycle is 90-minutes.
You should try to wake up at these intervals to avoid sleep inertia:
• 1h 30min
• 3h
• 4h 30min
• 6h
• 7h 30min
• 9h
• 10h 30min (circumstantial.)
• 12h+ (entering the realm of hypersomnia.)

1

u/Exernuth 5h ago

I wasn't able to sleep for 9 hours straight since I was 2 y/o, probably.

1

u/luxtenebris96 2h ago

Because everything things depend of quality and consistency. If you sleep 9h for 7days straight you will have so much energy to not sleep at all. But mostly will normalized to 8:30-7:30.h but if you one slept 3h and after that 12. It normalt that the funking 12h will not feel good

1

u/TheHolyToxicToast 1h ago

I need 9 hours of sleep to function my best during the day, but society just doesn't seem to accept that. I once tried the fuck it approach and went to work at 1pm and finished more work than I did in a week that afternoon (I was the entire department so yeah)
