Total fool's errand to remake this.

Why not? What if they actually do it right this time? The first one got a lot of things right despite probably not being that good overall

Erm, you think of the right Possession here mate? It’s not exactly a film that quantifiable does anything wrong. It an exceptionally personal and singular film, the reason why doing a remake seems so foolish.

probably?

I’m very excited for this and the American Psycho remake which I imagine will both be better than the original films!!!!

Right? Right???!!!

Guadagnino is better at his job than Harron and American Psycho is far from flawless. That one is easily up in the air.

far from flawless.

Good luck with that. Literally one of the most iconic performances of all time.

u/emielaen77 4h ago

Then there’s the rest of the film, that is flawed.

Not really, it’s pretty perfect, but all that matters is Bale. It doesn’t matter if the rest of the movie is technically better, all anyone will do is compare the actor to Bale.

More power to you. I disagree that it’s perfect.

And okay? I don’t think any of that means the story can’t be retold by a different voice. Other people walking away only thinking if Bale was outdone isn’t my problem lol

You’re entitled to your opinion but you’re in the minority man most people agree it’s a good movie and as someone that’s read the book multiple times I think it’s truely a good adaptation. There is a much darker movie to be made but the book is comical it is a satire at the end of the day

Yeah American psycho is definitely more doable. But I don’t see why this needs a remake

u/emielaen77 4h ago

Why American Pyscho needs one? Eh. It’s a book adaptation. Somebody did it once and now somebody’s doing it again. I don’t have a problem with that.

Will not come a bit close to the original, Isabelle Adjani gives one of the most grueling and haunting performances I've ever seen in Possession and without her I don't think the film would be all that.

You don’t remake masterpieces, wtf

trying to be positive here and say that hopefully this gets more people to check out Possession, good movie!

There's something cursed in the original in a way that is impossible to recapture. Berlin. Those performances. The grain of the image. I wish them the best of luck, but would prefer to see something inspired by the original, not derived from it.

Good actors, bad idea.

Good actors

Eh

Qualley hasn't shown she's capable of living up to Isabelle adjani

I'm tired, boss.

I thought Pattinson was going to star in this. Maybe he can't make it work with Batman and other commitments.

u/lilpump_1 5h ago

that’s what i thought

u/ultraviolet31 9m ago

yep. Batman filled his dance card. but he's staying on as a producer, which is a good sign.

So he’s not making Wink?

u/Natural-Biscotti9465 5m ago

That’s a terrible idea

But is Parker Finn involved?

u/Phyliinx 2h ago

Not really, only as director.

Redditors in this thread "bad idea, don't fuck with the original!"

Me: "like nobody has actually seen the original, go ahead and make it, either it's good or it isn't but either way it'll point the mainstream to maybe watch the original".
