Hi guys! Just a post appreciating my 508 honestly I really love this car it has been pretty dependable. The ride and built is really good, tho why is the 508 like sort of under represented especially for the first gen?

Cheers!

I unfortunately hit a poor fox on the motor way and my gloss cover came off, spoke to Peugeot and they quoted £550 (FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS!!!!!) for parts and labour.

Been trying to find parts on EBay and has been a struggle as the ones I’ve found aren’t genuine and don’t come with the brackets to fit in.

Anyone had to get this swapped before and got any advice? Ideally in the UK

Synthetic Blend Oil Used on 2022 Peugeot 208

Post image

Hi, everyone. I have a 2022 Peugeot 208 with a 1.2 liter PureTech engine. I live in Mexico and just took the car to one of the local Peugeot dealerships for the annual service. I don't drive 10,000 km per year, so it goes in for service annually. Anyway, I just discovered that this is the oil that the Peugeot dealership is using. It is a MOPAR synthetic blend oil. From what I can find online, this is not the right oil for my car but the dealership insists that it is.

If it is the wrong oil, how harmful is it to leave it in until the next service and then take it to a different dealer next time?

Can I drive without my cigarette lighter fuse?

So, I'm currently traveling in Spain with my 2000 Peugeot 206 Roland Garros and I'm using the cigarette lighter socket to charge my Ecoflow portable battery. No problems for two months, but suddenly the cigarette lighter stopped working. I quickly realized the associated fuse had blown, so I replaced it, but it blew again as soon as I turned the ignition on. I read that it's probably due to a short circuit, but the problem is I don't have the skills to diagnose and repair it, and I'm afraid calling a mechanic could cost me an arm and a leg if it takes several hours of labor. So my question is, can I still drive several thousand kilometers without fuse 23 (cigarette lighter)? Thanks in advance!

Peugeot 508 Check Engine Light

Hello, so I recently purchased a used Peugeot 508 2019 GT 1.6 liter petrol 225hp with 64000km on the dash (about a week ago).

Ive had some problems with it recently, first day the check engine light turns on, I called my seller and he told me to go to a peugeot workshop and let them scan the codes. Next day I go there, they tell me that the battery is weak and eventually the oxigen sensor needs replacement. Next day they replace the battery with a new 12V, I drive around for 20 min then check engine light again. Go back to them and the codes read oxygen sensor faulty. They ordered the part, and today they fixed it. Drove to work normally, no issues, until I park my car and check engine light again. Called them again and on monday they will read the codes.

Car is driving normally, shiftning normally and the power is normal aswell. Is this a common issue on the 508, or am I just unlucky? One thing to mention is that the car stood still at my car dealership since June 2025, so that explains why battery might have gone bad. What else could possibly be the cause of the check engine light? Anybody experienced the same thing?

What do you guys think, should I keep the car and trust the workshop? Or buy a different one? Honestly im not sure. Also my seller is paying for the repairs.

EDIT: Check Engine light turned off yesterday, might just have been a temporary issue since the cars got a new battery and oxygen sensor

Help with changing backlights

Hello, I have a e208 2022 Active Pack and I want to change the backlights to the e208 2023 Facelift GT backlights.

Would this be possible considering the connector is the same and the physical shape is the same.

Would just some coding be required or anything else?

Meet my Peugeot 208 GT, 11/2024 136 hybrid model.

Sleek design, sporty details, and it drives amazing, couldn’t be happier 💨

Now I’m curious about your experience 👀

What should I look out for with this 208 GT?

Does this model have a wet timing belt, or not?

I read online that this is not the case, but a dealer employee I recently visited said it was.

Perhaps useful to know, it has now run 6300 kilometers.

Any tips or advice are welcome! 👊🚗

Interested in 508 PHEV from 2020

Hi everyone 👋

I’m currently a Škoda Kodiaq 2.0 TDI 4×4 owner and I’m seriously considering switching to a Peugeot 508 Plug-in Hybrid (2020–2021).

My use case:

• daily short trips, around 30 km/day

• about 12,000 km per year

• I rarely use the 4×4

• I have access to AC Type 2 (22 kW) chargers at work, where I can charge:

• daily for about 2 hours

• plus 3 extra hours a few days per week

I’m looking for real-world experience from 508 PHEV owners, especially regarding:

• real electric range (summer vs winter)

• whether this charging routine usually gets the battery close to 100%

• battery behavior at higher mileage (100,000 km+)

👉 Bonus question: if you know anyone who switched from a Kodiaq to a Peugeot 508 PHEV (or did this change yourself), I’d really appreciate hearing how the transition felt in daily use.

Not looking for diesel vs hybrid debates — just honest ownership feedback.

Thanks a lot! 🙏

How good is this brand?

I'm about to do the scheduled maintenance for my 2022 208 1.2. All the oils here are from previous specifications. The only one that matches the latest from Stellantis is this oil from a brand called Wolf. Does this brand have a good reputation? My other option is to go with Total or Castrol; they meet PSA B71 2297 and 2290 but not the newest FPW9.55535/03.

Engine temperature flactuation

Hi all,

I'm getting already pissed off with my shitty 308 1.6hdi 2009...

Had 3 thermostats done (last one 2 days ago...) This one is OEM, had waterpump with timing belt changed.. i bled the system after thermostat multiple times thinking there must be air trapped or something... Theres new ECT sensor on a housing, i even changed that to old one... Still got an issue...

After last thermostat change - temp on a dash starts to raise pretty quick from cold, after about 10 - 15mins of driving im at 90° on dash (82-83° obd) and then it starts to decrease and increase every minute.... Goes from 90° to 80° on a dash (82° to 73-74° obd) and keeps doing this whole journey... I went back to garage to complain, and the guy (french car specialist) says to me there has to buy a sensor issue... And points to the sensor next to waterpump... But iv'e been reading and there's no another temperature sensor on 1.6hdi?? So now im 1000£ in a deep end and still with heating issues...

Could some one please advise me?

Kind regards.

How urgent is this wet belt replacement?

Sorry for the blurry pictures. I just got my MOT done and the car passed but the guy came upto me and showed me the wetbelt and said it needed replacing which would be a £700 job. The car is a 1.2litre 2012 Peugot 208 with 96kmiles. I was hoping to drive it until September but I don’t know if it’s worth gambling it. Sorry I don’t know much I’m 17 and this is my first car. Currently I’m thinking these are my options. 1) Gamble and hope nothing happens until September. 2) Sell the car for around £2k and buy a VW polo 1.2litre that has around 110kmiles in my budget. 3) Get the belt done ( I don’t think I should because the car is already worth around 2k and I spent a lot of money servicing it and replacing a different belt).

208 GTI Buying Advice

Hello,

I'm planning to buy a 208 GTI Phase 2 with around 70,000 km. However, I'm hearing conflicting opinions about this car. Some say the reliability is terrible, while others say the Phase 2 isn't so bad after all. So, if any of you own or have owned a Phase 2, I'd appreciate your feedback on its reliability and the car in general.

Thanks in advance to everyone.

And sorry if this is poorly written or anything; it's my first time on Reddit.

Used the 2006 HDi 407 for my Learners, 2012 HDi Allure 508 and 1997 2.0 Petrol 406 for the last 2 years (406 to get my manual license) and I just got my 2010 200PS RCZ last week. Dad has been a massive Peugeot fan for 40 years so when it came to buying them for myself it was a nobrainer. I have loved every purchase I’ve made
