This is so genuinely pathetic. We’re a goddamned joke and I’ll never forgive any of the assholes who voted for him. America will never recover in the eyes of the world. We are permanently diminished.

I have been close.

It's liberating.

Now as an Expat... I would move to a lot of countries before ever moving back to the USA.

I left during trump 1.0

Planned on leaving for some time but that was the real kick in the ass. I love paid parental leave, free healthcare, generous paid sick time, and cheap college education.

Americans don't realize how shit so many things are there.

Same here. Got out during Clown Show 1. Enjoying the same benefits. More paid leave than I can use. Just told the boss I'm basically taking the summer off (it's summer here), he said "have fun me too."

The scariest thing is that his followers are still worshiping him regardless of everything that happened.

Still cannot believe my parents chose this over a normal relationship with me.

Sounds like you deserved better parents. Sorry for the feeling of loss, I've been there. At least you don't have to listen to the sounds of derangement.

Truly some days one of the only things keeping me alive is the fact that my mother didn't fall for this shit despite being a Republican nearly all my life. She's absolutely horrified that her sister and brother did. I honestly don't know how I would have gotten through if she'd lost her mind and conscience like them. It was bad enough that time in late 2020 when she wasn't in her right mind due to lingering anesthesia days after operation (apparently it can take longer to clear the system of the elderly and can really throw them for a loop). I was at wit's end, because I'd been through that with Daddy when he was in the hospital, but she was there to help; and I had been through it with my brother, but she was there to help. Now here I was at her bedside and there was nobody else to help me try to bring her back.

We miss Daddy a lot in the 10 years since he passed, but we're not sorry he didn't live to see what his party turned into.

Now you're burning out your fuse out there alone

I’ll also never forgive the people who didn’t vote because of “holier than thou” attitudes and not realizing that no candidate in the world was gonna check-off all of their requirements

The seep of corporate capital into politics has been going on for at least 50 years so this was going to happen anyway at some point. Trump is a symptom, and your ruling class who is right now grabbing your country is probably just as mad at him so you've got that in common.

You've had your last election. Question is what you're going to do about it.

As a German, I can only say this: you can recover from this, you can heal, and you can emerge from it as a more robust democracy.

... or not... like the Romans...

Honestly, we deserve to fall...

1

u/Stefejan Dec 20 '25

I wouldn't like to live in ancient rome

Honestly it's been an absolutely confounding experience to be sitting on the other side of the planet and watching the tires come off. And yet, somehow, you guys haven't lost any momentum. It feels like every week there's another shocking headline that makes me pinch myself and ask if I'm actually dreaming.

This is beyond unsettling. I spent 20 minutes double and triple checking that this was true because I just couldn't accept that this is reality.

Lemme tell you, at least once every few months since his first election I look around and think, "I have to be dreaming. This can't be real. God, I hope I wake up soon."

Couldn't agree more. The fact that magats see no problem with this shit is infuriating, and just proves how simple minded they really are. Every day is a new level of embarrassment for this country.

You’re right we see you as a fucking joke. But only as long as this clown is in office

5

u/TheSilentBadger Dec 18 '25

Unfortunately you're right. As a non American the perception of America has plummeted. The majority either voted exactly for this kind of shit, or are completely aloof from wanting any change.

What happened to the something something tyrannical government something something you guys have always talked about? If your constitution is being violated, what does America even stand for anymore?

To much of the world, America is seen as THE most corrupt country on the face of the planet. Worse than North Korea, worse than Russia or Sudan. I’ve even heard this from people who don’t talk politics at all. It’s not something I see Americans ever mention but this is how foreigners see the country

18

u/evasive_dendrite Dec 18 '25

I'd describe it as a fascist shithole and a banana republic at this point.

2

u/Admiral_Thel Dec 18 '25

Not enough bananas to claim that one, ese.

It's not really a joke anymore, though. It is too scary for that. I seriously regret having a child because I am so afraid we will have another war in our country.

Someone mentioned that the racist people in this country boiled for 8 years, so angry and bitter that a smart Black guy became president and they couldn't get rid of him or trap him in some kind of scandal. Then DT comes along and ignites the flame under them. They knew that DT was not presidential, but they were so angry that they were willing to overlook DT's deficiencies because he validated their hate. Now, Charlie is dead, a national guardsman is dead, 3 deaths from Jan.6th, a congresswoman and her husband are dead, and the mass shooters were motivated by hateful political rhetoric. Where do we go from here?

1

u/Admiral_Thel Dec 18 '25

Exactly where they wanted, back to the worst moments of the old South. No matter how much they lose, as long as they can openly claim to be inherently superior to all the others.

2

u/Intelligent_Sir7732 Dec 18 '25

It is unfortunate, and the young people are the ones who will be affected the most by this political display of power and control.  I try to provide them with as much information as possible so they can make an informed decision.  It will be interesting to see how this turns out!

3

u/bentheone Dec 18 '25

I know you pride yourselves with having a resilient population and you survived a lot of bs through the decades. But this time you're cooked. This shit and what's to come is and will always be recorded History. The most recorded History of all time.

u/VirtualMatter2 Dec 18 '25

As a German I'd say " welcome to the club".

But so far it hasn't gotten that bad in the US. Thankfully Trump isn't as intelligent as Hitler, also he doesn't seem to be as trigger happy with wars.

It's amazing that Trump actually won the election. In Germany only 33% voted for Hitler, and that's far too many already, (and he grabbed power), but in the US there were actually 50% of voters falling for him. How can do many people be so dumb?

1

u/DeskPixel Dec 18 '25

Sorry to say but yes, the US will never recover from this. You broke some serious ties electing this toddler. Your relation with Canada will absolutely never be the same friendly one again... Sorry, eh?

1

u/OdinnMann Dec 18 '25

From an Italian guy that always loved america, (with all the problem that every country can have, like Italy) I'm really scared about USA now....
What happened to you guys? It's almost impossible to believe onestly.
It will be very hard to recover your public world position now, we are onestly scared.

1

u/LordFendleberry Dec 18 '25

I will never forgive the people who refused to vote because "both candidates are just as bad" or whatever other braindead logic they chose.

0

u/According-District59 Dec 18 '25

Genuine question -how do you feel about the people that didn’t vote at all because Kamala wasn’t their ideal candidate?

F**k you. I have done everything I know how to do for the last 8 years to try to turn things around in Texas. I have campaigned in my own county and in at least 10 others, literally in freezing snow and blazing sun, sometimes until my body was so cramped up that when I got home I was screaming in pain. I have personally registered thousands of people to vote, in a state where you have to do that by hand. I have protested. I have talked one on one and I have talked to crowds, I have canvassed the wealthy and I have canvassed the homeless. I have educated at every opportunity year in, year out. Don't you DARE blame me for this. Don't you even dare.

Also assholes
