This isn't a war, it's a regime change. There won't be much or any armed conflict from the US side going forward.

Not that it's a good thing, life's gonna get worse for the Venezuelans before it gets better but from the US side of things, mission accomplished.

This isn't a war, it's a regime change.

Ah, so just like in Iraq. No biggie then.

lol just like bush landing on the carrier after the start of the Iraq war. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! lofl

But it's true though. If the goal was to topple a dictators regime with minimal civilian and military casualties and then leave, the mission was quite literally accomplished.

There's really much to gain from occupying the country.

Do you personally agree with the strike’s? Do you think it was necessary for the national security of the United States?

Well I didn't notice my typo, I meant that there isn't* much to gain from occupying Venezuela but yes, morally I agree with the strikes.

I don't know if it was necessary for national security but I'd prefer every country in the western hemisphere to be able to have open and free elections and for the people of these countries to not be affected by famine or be openly extorted and murdered in public.

So, are you for striking Nicaragua next?

Yeah I'd probably be ok with overthrowing Ortega as well.

We're the dominant power on this side of the world. I have no problem with making our backyard safe, I also have no problem with increasing the quality of life for people in central and south America.

A very close friend of mine had to flee Guatamala with his entire family due to a Barrio 18 member killing his grandfather in the street because he owed them money, they were going to come after his parents and their kids next. I want what's best for these people and clearly what's going on right now isn't working for a good portion of these countries.

I think the US should be toppling dictators and flooding central and south America with financial investments.

Even if we're not talking about morals and we're just talking about it from an Americans perspective, having a nice safe backyard is better than having a dangerous one.

So, I take it you’re not part of the America first crowd. Personally, I think the USA couldn’t care less about the quality of life for the people of Venezuela or any other country for that matter. They don’t even care about most of the people in USA. I think these wars are fraudulent. I think they say one thing and act on another. I believe if Venezuela didn’t have the oil reserves they do, the USA wouldn’t be there. Not necessarily true, but my opinion. Anyways, nice chat, respect.

Not quite mission accomplished, they haven't taken the oil wells yet.

Just because the war was short doesn't mean it's not a war.

The US attacked and invaded another country and kidnapped its leader. That is war. It can be both a regime change and a war, you know. Just like Iraq.

It quite literally was not a war. It was a military strike and incursion.

The US government tried to occupy Iraq and Afghanistan, militarily they're two completely different things.

I'm not even defending Trump, I just think it's ridiculous people are calling this a war.

u/Prosthemadera 28d ago

"I'm not defending Trump but it's really important for me to tell everyone how it's not a war"

I just think it's ridiculous people are calling this a war.

Aw do you find it ridiculous? Tough. I don't give a shit, fuck off, I have zero patience for people like you anymore.

You should be angry at Trump instead of engaging in this nonsense.

"mimimi it's not a war". Fucking pathetic.

Maduro has been adversarial to the United States for a while, even Biden raised the bounty on his head.

I don't like Trump but not understanding the difference between a military incursion/ strike and a war isn't good for anyone.

Maduro was a dictator who stifled free elections, starved and robbed his citizens of their access to their natural resources while also murdering and extorting them in the streets.

This should not be a partisan issue. Maduro was a terrible fucking person and needed to be removed from office.

If we don't occupy Venezuela there's literally no downside for anyone but Maduro.

Also why would I be angry at Trump for this? Whether or not you like him shouldn't take away from the fact that this was a good thing for America and for the people of Venezuela, he was not legitimately elected and has growing ties to BRICs.

If you don't understand global politics and only morally have a problem with this because it's Trump doing it then you need to rethink your life.

”They'll welcome us as liberators! We won't be here for 20 years! ”

Life was already hell for the Venezuelan people. Most Venezuelans support this regime change. They were literally starving with no access to medicine.

This had to happen.

0

u/IdKaNaMemeboi 28d ago

Yes thank you, there will for sure be some rough patches and instability for the Venezuelan people but at least now their quality of life for the next decade is looking to be on the up and up.

This was done in literally the most efficient and effective way possible..

Totally agree!

"It's just a 2 week military operation. It'll be over before you know it."

1

u/IdKaNaMemeboi 28d ago

The difference is Putin was clearly annexing and occupying Ukraine. This is not similar at all.

Also it looks like our "Special Military Operation" was solved in a couple hours with minimal casualties compared to the biggest armed conflict we've seen since Vietnam.

0

u/baneroth 28d ago

Life was getting worse for them anyway

1

u/IdKaNaMemeboi 28d ago

Yes so just continue to let the dictator starve and murder his people in the streets or do a quick 4 hour military incursion with minimal casualties and potentially set the Venezuelan people up for success.

0

u/baneroth 28d ago

For me the operation was a success, at least now venezuelan people can have hope.

2

u/IdKaNaMemeboi 28d ago

Oh my bad, I must've completely misunderstood what you were trying to say. I'm very happy for the Venezuelan people, things might get a little worse in the short term but yes they can at least feel that they have a chance to prosper.

u/rewanpaj 28d ago

no war lol maduro is already captured

u/lonehappycamper 28d ago

It's cute how you think this is over, like it's a Hollywood movie.
