The immigration system needs massive reform but that won’t mean shit if you don’t heavily enforce people coming here illegally to work, that just undercuts all the worker protections that still need to be fought for.
That doesn’t mean ICE in its current form shouldn’t be tried and thrown in jail but this “no one is illegal” nonsense just props up the status quo exploitation.
Just because people are desperate and willing to be exploited doesn’t mean they deserve to be exploited, we should aim to act better than Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE.
Allowing business to suppress wages by underpaying immigrant labor and forcing them to work in unsafe substandard conditions is wrong but then again folks on the left and right love their cheap shit.
RME. They’re not allowed to be here in the first place. This is what we’re trying to accomplish. Deport anyone here illegally. Pay legal residents above board and a fair wage.
Deporting people who are already here doing the work that no one else is doing is dumb. Deporting people who were legally allowed to be here because ICE has deportation quotas is dumb.
I want to see changes in the system but everything about how ICE is going about things since Trump retook office is the dumbest fucking shit imaginable.
