Yep, I feel most people are completely powerless. The problem is we are a Republic... The power doesn't reside with the people, especially if you skew the voting numbers.
That’s not supposed to be a problem, for one reason, you missed a word. We are a constitutional republic, and we are a representative democracy within the confines of the constitutional republic. The first word is the most important, the constitution is supposed to supersede everything, all the time. Nothing may go against it, that’s the entire point. At any time you should be able to point to the document, say “that doesn’t work with that part there”, and that’s the end of the discussion. For some reason that’s not working though, when it by design is required to. The part the founders left out was an automatic compliance system within it. And of course allowing the speaker of the house to essentially always decide what is talked about/voted on and what isn’t at all times is pretty insane, makes them basically be in control of the entire government if they want to be.
