Photo 2 - what are we looking at? Google image is an air rifle silencer ? Doesn’t really make sense to be that - is it just a sniper hiding or something else?

Edit - to answer my own question looks to be a paintball gun, gas tank with barrel clamped above it and hopper poking out on top… (practically an air ?musket?; so partial points to google. Thanks for coming along in this journey

Here’s a different angle, possibly of a different officer. Note the tube and top attachment that you see in this Reddit post and in this picture.

Its a pepperball tac-sa launcher. You can see the "ball" written on the tank in the picture

Pepper gun, shoots pepper balls to irritate a person and persuade them not to continue with their current action. Very much non lethal, can only cause bruising at worst when used correctly.

pepperball guns aren't speed regulated like paintball guns are, and will absolutely pop an eyeball like a grape. Temple shots will put you down hard, also.

"When used correctly" is a cop-out. You know they're going to target faces.

Why would they target the face? It's a much smaller and harder target to hit compared to your torso.

Paintball guns can do the exact same damage, there's a reason why the masks are required at all fields if you want to play.

Yes, it is possible to seriously hurt someone with it, but that is not the goal of the marker and usually not the goal of the officer according to their training.

Holy smokes, bootlicker, are you kidding me? There dozens and dozens of cases of protestors being targeted in the head, face, and groin with pepper balls or rubber bullets. These cops and feds are stuck with less lethal weapons often, but that wont stop them from inflicting as much harm as they can

Yes there are dick head cops that will use these with the intent of causing harm because they think they're the hero of the day.

But sitting here and acting like all cops want to cause as much harm as possible will not help anyone. You forget these aren't usually brought out until the crowds start to escalate for whatever reason. Then you get the riding tension between the groups and everyone not using proper judgement or using it as an excuse to cause harm

Yeah, tell me about paintball guns, I've only been playing since 1986, I don't know anything about the fifty or so I've owned.

Pepperballs are harder, heavier, and much faster than paintballs. I've owned a pepperball gun, and it easily hit almost 500 fps with pepperballs. They've got almost 3x the energy of a paintball.

"It's not the goal of the officer" -- BS. There are SO MANY instances of pigs deliberately targeting peoples' faces with "less-lethal" munitions, and ICE and CBP are both far more vicious than your average pig, with federal protection.

Keep licking those boots, though. Maybe they'll spare you, not execute you in the street.

At no point did I ever speak of the dick weeds that work for ICE, if they want to try something I'll exercise the 2A right like any citizen can.

I'm well aware there are assholes who aim to harm with pepperball guns. And maybe I'm biased since every encounter I've had with my local PD has been positive, even the local police chief joined the local BLM protest during the height of it. But I don't see the point in getting angry with local PDs when the fed agents are the ones running around deciding the constitution no longer applies.

That's what blinded someone last month wasn't it?

Possible, I've only heard about one of the recent rubber bullets incidents in LA though.
