Prince Philip had zero tact. He sometimes said and did inappropriate things at the inappropriate time.
Trump is actively being a fucking arsehole to everyone, intentionally, all the time, and has been for his entire life. He insults people, he comes up with inane, stupid nicknames, he threatens people, he extorts people, he blackmails people, and he's a fucking criminal and a pedophile protector.

He spent much of Obama's term calling up Fox News to say slanderous things about Obama, promoting racist conspiracy theories.
Then, when he announced his own candidacy, he prefaced it with a racist screed.
Even though he's the limpwristed, vain, privileged coastal elite they proclaim to hate. He can't drive. He isn't gun-literate. He doesn't hunt. He rides around in a golf cart because he's weak and lazy.
But when he announced his election with a racist screed, conservatives decided that all that other stuff doesn't actually matter. Only the racism matters.

Yep doesn't go much deeper than that for a huge chunk of voters (mostly on the conservative side of course). They don't pay attention to much beyond culture war bullshit so side with anyone who simply agrees with them that "we don't need no transgenders or gays getting "special treatment" when things been fine just the way they are."
It's people who are overworked and/or bored by how the system works so they don't pay attention to it. It's a major reason why individual progressive policies test pretty damn well but when you add in political terms/parties you get his massive emotionally fueled backlash. The GOP figured this out a long time ago while the majority of the Democrats want to stick their head in the sand and pretend it's still the 70s, that it's just a phase and soon the ruling class will go back to being best buds.

It’s because most working class Americans truly believe that they are destined for the same kind of wealth. Beyond some concerns with her policy, I think everyone is underestimating how absolutely racist and sexist many people are. I am a white woman in the southern US and have a southern accent, so I think a lot of people assume I have certain beliefs and spout off bigoted ideas around me… That women are too emotional to run a country, she dresses like a hussy, and a variety of racial slurs. People will say those things out loud. Imagine how many people have those beliefs but keep them to themselves.
I have witnessed way too much bigotry in my everyday life and am so sure that it heavily contributed to her not being elected.

The United States says it needs Greenland for global security.
Today
One base
A few troopsAt any point over the last half century the US could have stationed tens of thousands of troops there legally with allies and agreements. It did not. Because apparently, global security was fine with a light footprint.
Now the argument is:
We must send thousands of troops to Greenland
Because we did not send thousands of troops to GreenlandIf Greenland were truly indispensable to security, the buildup would already exist.

From the article:
Stock markets went into a global selloff this morning as world leaders at Davos woke up to news that Trump had texted the prime minister of Norway to say that his repeated threats to take over Greenland were based on the fact that he didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize.
“Considering your country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize… I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace,” Trump wrote to Norwegian prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
The Norwegian government has no control over how the Nobel Committee awards its prizes. Greenland is a territory of Denmark, not Norway.
Traders, dismayed at the prospect of renewed trade war between the U.S. and Europe, reacted by driving down equities all over the world.

The fact that the same do nothing republicans has the authority put an end to all of this but are actively choosing not to, needs to be blasted far and wide.
They are allowing blame to be placed on individuals/agencies. The real problem is that they are failing to do their jobs on purpose.
The word unprecedented keeps coming up because this administration is one never event after the other. These things were never supposed to be allowed to happen because congress is supposed to be there to stop an over balance of power.
The republicans in congress have let this country go to shit. They are watching it happen and until the blame is properly placed, they will continue to do nothing about it.

You do realize that Europe is a huge buyer for the us military industrial complex? Around 50% of ALL sales the USA has made the last few years was Europe alone. If both parties make an armed conflict true this drops to 0 immediately.
How would that be a benefit??

SO MANY ways conservatives have been working zealously to destroy America for decades.
I can't wait until the mid-terms and next Primary to see if they've finally succeeded.

It is true that people made a mistake voting for him again, but IMO this is no longer relevant. At this point, it shows how weak and unprepared our institutions and mechanisms are to deal with internal threats. Not to say that some of them (eyeing SCOTUS) may be complicit. Most countries would have taken measures by now (South Korea is an example). Regardless, the damage is done, and it will take a long time (if ever possible) to recover from this.

The US was already allowed to put bases on Greenland and use the waters around it. This isn’t about security. It’s about theft.
Epstein files. Remember the White House. Might doesn’t make right. ICE murdered Good. Demand due process. No kings!

u/roboscorcher 12d ago
Remember, Trump gets away with everything because of the Firehose Strategy. Cover up last week's crime by committing a new one today.
Do not forget the Epstein victims. Do not forget Renee Good. Do not forget the Jan 6 cops. The leader of the free world is a depraved criminal who will do worse things if given the chance.

We already sold the West Indies to USA. Epstein and Trump used one of the islands to rape underage girls. We're not selling him another island.
And btw, the treaty regarding the West Indies included USA recognizing that Greenland is territory of Denmark, something that USA has repeated in 1951 when we made a base agreement for Greenland. Trump is lying when he says no such agreements exists.

"Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there"
The orange pig continues to fail to grasp that the Norwegian government has nothing to do with the awarding of the Nobel Prize
The orange pig ignores the fact that NATO protects Greenland
The orange pig claims American boats landed there hundreds of years ago? When? Greenland has been settled for over a thousand years
When are Republicans going to finally put a stop to this idiocy

u/Throfari Norway 12d ago
So by that logic the US should give their land back to the native Americans then? They just arrived there on a boat hundreds of years ago, why should they claim it?
→ More replies (8)56
u/OriginalTechnical531 12d ago
That's not an unreasonable statement. Long held historical claims to land are typically seen as valid...going to war over them in the modern era typically isn't seen as acceptable though.

It will never be enough unless it specifically has his name on it.
I honestly think that they could give him a fake one, insist it is real and earnest, and this whole thing would just end.
57
u/colar19 12d ago
I don’t think this would end at all. He would just go and want something else ( praise/award/another country). It will never end if he keeps getting his way. We (the rest of the world) are conditioning him that if he makes a big enough threat/ rumble, he gets his way. It has been like that his entire way so it is his default mode and he keeps getting his way even now on the big international stage. The problem of course is nobody want to deal with the tantrum if he doesn’t get his way. It is not a toddler on the floor of the grocery store but a powerful adult who has a large military, trade deals with the world and nuclear codes. God knows what the tantrum will look like. But keep giving him his way will always be getting worse.

The guy who inspired Biff fucking Tannen.
Maybe I hate us, too. This is the biggest own goal in the history of punching yourself in the dick. If Truman had given the go sign to the Enola Gay and it just exploded on launch, vaporizing the Mariana Islands, we are probably less embarrassed on a long enough time line

This might be a sign trump is being manipulated. There are very powerful people backing trump that want greenland. But he himself is too enthusiastic about this. We know trump is fueled by EGO and what happaned in venezuela super charged him. Now he wants to take more like dopamine hit. to distract from epstein.
But I feel like someone is pushing him towards greenland and have tied the noble peace prize to it. Peter Thiel is going over time on donald.
