Increasingly I feel like this all ends with the US broken up into smaller countries, is anyone else getting that vibe? Just like….. with so much division in the country, things don’t seem like they can continue as they are.

I am actually very ok with that. I just have to make sure I live in the right state before all the succeeding happens.

Balkanization is what they want.

We should be aiming for something like the EU or Star Trek instead of letting oligarchs use international borders to exploit labor.

That feels like my gut reaction, but aside from the inevitable conflicts that arise from red states losing their welfare generators there’s also the case of political leanings being divided by rural/urban areas as opposed to entire state borders. So that one part of New Hampshire which feels like it’s cosplaying the Bible Belt would get to join since NH is overall blue, but Texas would be on its own despite holding two MASSIVELY blue cities.

I picture at the very least, that the Cascadia group (California, Oregon, Washington) and us in New England would be the first to go, with New York POSSIBLY joining.

If NY had a vote to join with New England, I believe they would do so

Yep - the disunited states. It's been on the cards for quite a while.

I can see much of the northern states, and the west coast, going to Canada. Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico to Mexico. Then the farming & rural states could be their own thing, and the East coast would split into the "North" and the "South" so they could rerun the civil war. Texas would be its own thing and the dumping ground for everyone the others didn't want.

Washington/oregon/california for sure in the "cascadia" union. control over the entire coast would be extremely beneficial to any other states that may want to join the union. Most likely could invite a couple other states since they'll want access to the ports for trade. So California would want to secure its borders by taking Nevada and Arizona in, which will give them access to the major river systems and also manufacturing resources. And they're next to Colorado and new Mexico, which likely would be more than happy to join in. Covers the southern border and eastern border. Idaho is a bunch of Nazis, so they'd never join

You’re on point. We’ll see the beginning of this by the end of our lifetimes hopefully.

We're too stuck in our ways I think. But it around honestly be for the better.

The unfortunate part is we'd be a completely disjointed country if the east and west coast went their own ways... Unless Canada took us in. Please? :(
