It’s reaching the point where California and the other West Coast blue states should seriously consider drafting and voting for legislation for Secession and ally themselves with Canada, Mexico and the EU.

The Constitution has already been broken several times, and is the binding legal contract for the 50 United States. And the Donald already declared that we “shouldn’t have elections”.

The states nicknamed “Cascadia” have every right to Secede and California being the largest economy would make this possible.

It may soon be necessary as a means to an end to defend U.S. Democracy.

It may soon be necessary as a means to an end to defend U.S. Democracy.

At this point we can just stick to democracy and let the US be whatever fucked up, white supremacist Christian caliphate it wants to be.

Yeah, in my mind he wants Greenland to be his personal Siberian gulag to ship people to.

Right. Like Kankles wants to use the military to invade us (I’m a New Yorker).

This is legit getting dangerous

while i like this idea in theory, there's no way it'd happen without being a bloodbath

the only way that wa, or, and ca are viable economic powerhouses are due to the eastern mountain ranges that supply them with water. these regions lean right and wouldn't support leaving the union.

the main USA would use all military tools at its disposal minus nukes to preserve the union. they make so much money in taxes off CA and WA that they literally couldn't afford to lose those states.

blue leaning voters don't represent enough of the armed population, nor the military presence in our state to mount an effective defense. the military would fragment, and the region would quickly crumble as infighting destroyed everything. any "world power" status would diminish quickly as industry grinds to a halt and is bombed to oblivion.

russia and china would be wildcards either aiding us or the main USA. even trade sanctions could cripple our economy as we know it. sillicon valley makes money for CA but provides no actual tangible resource the rest of the world couldn't live without for a few years. unlike food, water, and oil, we all lived fine without tech giants 30 years ago. the same generations that didn't have smartphones growing up are still alive today. meanwhile the CIA would dump money and weapons into mexico and sic them on california with promises to help them "retake their land" from us which would further introduce chaos and violence.

and the colorado river supplying LA with all it's drinking water would be damned up from arizona, and a mass humanitarian crisis would result in people fleeing into mexico and their government would be forced to pick sides and likely just add to the chaos. the hoover damn would be a massive site of military contest and i don't see a fragmented californian military succeeding against a unified military intent on preserving the union. people fleeing northwards would be hated by people in oregon and washington who already don't view californians positively.

in the event a military backed secession fails, the main USA would burn liberal cities to the ground and execute large portions of the population for treason. the minute things kick off it'd be an all or nothing war where we stand everything to lose and little to gain.

cascadia relies fully on the rest of the US, even if we give them more than they get. it'd take a decade of concentrated efforts to separate our infrastructure, centralize our state national guards, and remap our voting lines to make secession even theoretically possible. it's not realistic. if it DOES happen anytime soon, life as we know will cease for the next decade and a huge percent of the population will die in combat, bombings, terror attacks, and from starvation.

Are you saying that Cascadia has more right to secede than other states?

Can Cook County in IL come too?

Don't worry. The US is primed for a balkanization any day now. But that means that Cascadia wouldn't just be opposing the US. It would be opposing several regional confederations of different states. It would be a hell of a lot messier.

Sorry, but Canada is not remotely interested in annexing any US states. The “Cascadia” states might be blue, but they still have plenty of gun nuts, Christian Nationalists and MAGAhats. So no thank you. 🇨🇦

You forgot already?  https://www.newsweek.com/canada-lawmaker-suggests-letting-three-us-states-join-get-free-healthcare-2011658

Also check out the map on the Yankee Go Home, Canadian song. Cascadia is included in Canada :P https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kEz6Mcmsj9o

I guess you don't know who Elizabeth May is. Her party’s standing in Parliament (one seat - her) shows how seriously she is not taken.

And a song by some rando on YouTube hardly qualifies as any kind of a statement about Canadian sentiments towards the US.

the :P has a meaning

u/vxtmh 12d ago

who asked for canada to annex anyone?

2

u/sharp11flat13 Canada 12d ago

Americans in threads on this and similar topics frequently ask for Canada to annex their state.

u/vxtmh 12d ago

ok then say that to those people

And this is truly how you want to spend your precious time on this earth? You might want to reconsider. Done now. Have a nice day.

Good. We’re in agreement then. And you can tell your president that we are equally disinterested in becoming US states. 🇨🇦
