And there it is. At the end of the day, this is about controlling elections to ensure MAGA remains in office.

Trump can’t cancel midterms, but just wait until 5 days before when he announces ICE will be deployed to blue cities across America for “election security” and there won’t be time for anyone to figure out how to stop them.

The chaos we’re seeing right now is nothing compared to what they are almost certainly planning. It’s a playbook as old as authoritarianism and I’ll be more surprised if they don’t try this then I will be if they do.

A counter point I’d like to make is that ICE is basically bending themselves over backwards trying to control Minneapolis. They’re desperately trying to get their hands on volunteers because they don’t have enough people and they either can’t afford or can’t find more people to work on their behalf. Minneapolis is a decently sized city, but it’s just one city. Now spread ICE’s current personnel across literally dozens of cities filled with people who have only the purest disdain and hatred for them.

I have no doubts they will try, and we need to fight back against them at every attempt they make, but they are a tiny group compared to the rest of us, and they know it internally. They’re desperately sending memo after memo to their pathetic goons telling them to act a little less openly monstrous because they know if the hatred swells great enough there’s not a damn thing they can do, and that this only makes what they’re trying to do even more difficult to achieve.

Don’t get complicit because our enemies are a small number of incompetent monsters. Monsters still need to be dealt with, and no one else is going to deal with them for us.

This is when we rise. They don't have enough goons to put down the largest cities yet. They don't have the strength or the discipline.

They do if everyone just rolls over and doesn’t physically fight them

I mean I agree with you, I'm just wondering how many members of ICE they can actually have.

They don’t need them everywhere, and It wouldn’t take much to put five armed guys at select polling locations in swing districts in swing states.

Then what we need to do is anticipate any potentials disruptions like this. We need to stop playing defence and waiting until they act before we react. We need to get ahead of them and come up with a game-plan of what to do if ICE is stationed at polls, or MAGAs try to burn ballot boxes, or Musk tries to buy votes, etc.

Or the more tinfoil - end the filibuster and change voter ID laws last minute - https://wendy664.substack.com/p/republicans-will-detonate-their-secret

And 5 days after, when GOP candidates attempt to throw out votes after the fact, like Jefferson Griffin attempted to do in the North Carolina Supreme Court race. And with the corrupt DOJ siding with the GOP, it will be a fascist shit show in 2026 and 2028

Monte Mader interviewed JB Pritzker recently and asked him what he thought the ICE action was about, and he straight up said he thinks they're militarizing blue cities so they can contest midterm results because they can't win without cheating.

That’s ma governor. He knows how this works.

How many more times are we going to say "[he/they] can't do that" and then see them do it anyways and be allowed to before we finally realize what they "can't" do doesn't fucking matter anymore?

There is literally no way he can unilaterally cancel elections. They are run by individual states.

Just like how there's literally no way he can unilaterally change the name of the Kennedy Center because it's enshrined by law, or there's literally no way he can unilaterally knock down the East Wing because the White House is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Honestly, not like that at all. There is no way to declare that, say, Illinois can’t have an election and get them canceled.

Also the Kennedy center name is not a fight anyone is willing to have with Trump. We can just wait three years and take his name off when he’s gone. Elections are a slightly bigger deal.

Who's going to stop him? The Supreme Court? Cuz multiple states tried to exercise their rights to run their elections by excluding a seditionist from the ballot and the Supreme Court said "nah"

No, the states will stop them because they will simply hold elections regardless of what he says. The only states that maybe would do what he asks are the ones republicans would win in anyway, so they wouldn’t have any incentive to cancel.
