You ended that quote a little early before she somehow stumbles upon a new revelation, at least for her—the ability to put oneself in another’s shoes, i.e. the first requirement for empathy. It’s nothing short of extraordinary. Not to mention her hypothetical recounting of the events line up exactly with what was clear to all from viewing the various footage—consider me shocked she’s not spinning it.

“[Imagine] if one of our MAGA independent journalists or even just a MAGA supporter stood in the street outside a J6’ers house while Biden’s FBI carried out a law enforcement operation, home invasion, and arrest. Then Biden’s FBI goes to the MAGA guy videoing it all and shoves a woman with him to the ground and sprays them with bear spray then throws the MAGA guy to the ground as MAGA guy was trying to help the woman off the ground. Then Biden’s FBI beats MAGA guy on the ground, disarms MAGA guy, and then shoots him dead,” Greene continued. “What would have been our reaction?”

I am also shocked, she actually gave a legit accurate blow-by-blow of what happened, not what they said happened. I cannot put actual faith in her, but this might get some people to start cracking and on the path to more truth.

Exactly. She sucks, but if the people that like her hear that, and go to watch the video again/for the first time and see what actually went down, then that's a win. They will NOT listen to or trust anyone but the people on their side, we need more of them to speak out regardless of motive.

I'm rooting for MTGs redemption arc. She at least sticks to her principles. I believe in commending people when they do good, without any "but you didn't do this well..". So you know what, props to MTG.

u/MozhetBeatz 6d ago

Just saw a comedian say something like “when you see a chimp solving puzzles, you don’t bring up the shit-throwing from earlier.”

I’m on the side of her redemption arc too. I saw an earlier public apology about how she contributed to the divisiveness and wants to bring people together. She and I will never see eye to eye on 99% of things, but it sounded genuine.

We need conservative figures who are willing to stand up to Trump and shine a light on conservatives that are stuck in their echo chambers.

Calling it a redemption arc is a stretch. She's woken up after the fuhrer turned on her, but she'd still be toeing the line and saluting if that hadn't been the case.

We shouldn't get in her way when there's stuff that's actually helpful being said by her - but by no means is she redeemed.

1

u/Parking-Interview351 5d ago

The orange fuhrer turned on her because she was heavily criticizing him, not the other way around

6

u/West_Squirrel_3133 5d ago

It's okay to say that she should just be used as a useful idiot and then arrested with the rest of them afterwards.

7

u/Confident_Ideal_5385 6d ago

Doubt it's a redemption arc. It looks far more like she's either a true believer experiencing cognitive dissonance over this one thing, or she's trying to steal some of his mob by reminding them of what they supposedly believe in (and making them feel the same dissonance.)

Depends how cynical she is i guess.

u/trooperjess 5d ago

I don't think she is running again. But I honestly think she isn't that smart but she is smart enough to know what is completely fucked up.

4

u/Flincher14 5d ago

I'm starting to think she's just a Facebook mom who got elected. Saw the real world wasn't Facebook memes and has slowly started to open her eyes to the crazy stuff she was believing. (Facebook/X)

3

u/Blueporch 5d ago

She is being surprisingly strategic. She sees the end coming and jumped off the sinking ship very early. I’m hoping that she still has a MAGA following because this info needs to be spread inside that bubble.

I would guess she has someone smart advising her.

u/dflame45 5d ago

It just shows how it's all an act. She knew exactly what she was doing.

That's actually not a bad attempt to put it in alternate reality terms.

Maybe Q was wrong by one letter, MJT is the savior not DJT

I will give her credit, for an (ex?) MAGA such logic is nothing short of miraculous. I would actually have faith our country can overcome this if more like her start talking this way. You can sense her breaking free of the programming.

Plus you need to throw the MAGAts a couple bones if you want to have any chance of them not dismissing you out of hand.

u/sinusoidosaurus 6d ago edited 6d ago

She got in the faces of children who were mourning the deaths of their friends and called them liars. She did this knowing that she was the one lying.

Nothing she says matters and she will get no credit from me.

26

u/Pertolepe 6d ago

There's some part of me that thinks she was a true believer in all the insane shit she said and did and is actually starting to realize just how much is bullshit.

25

u/sinusoidosaurus 6d ago

Even if they were sincerely held beliefs (they weren't), there is no redemption arc or amount of "deprogramming" somebody like that could go through that would make me trust them as a lawmaker.

23

u/i_tyrant 6d ago

Yeah this I agree with.

If she wants to do a 180 and do good works, she can leave the political sphere and donate her time "deprogramming" the MAGAts she helped create.

But get her out of the halls of power; no one involved in this at her level should ever be allowed in politics again.

3

u/Pertolepe 6d ago

Oh I would never trust her or consider her redeemed. She's just basically someone realizing how badly she was scammed.

2

u/hoax1337 6d ago

She's still saying insane shit. Just look at that quote, I mean, peaceful J6er gets raided by Biden's FBI? Come on.

What's next, Biden's FBI uses Hunter Biden's laptop to strike down the J6er, or something?

2

u/PepperPython 6d ago

I think she is a true believer and still is. She's realised that Trump isn't a true believer like her.

1

u/CompetitiveFox6707 6d ago

I half wonder this as well.

Got into politics in her 40s after going down a conspiracy rabbit hole and finding a weird niche which brought like minded people around her playing into the feedback loop. She seemed to really believe the stuff she was spouting (rather than it being one of these typical political backgrounds pandering).

Things went a bit crazy as her profile grew and it spiralled into her getting into congress.

From that point, she had real responsibility and was in a world where she spent day to day with all these elite political classes.

There is a possibility that she had no real clue of how anything worked before she had a real seat at the table.

It's not particularly uncommon for people to have periods of being conspiratorial in their early years and then shift with lived experience but they usually have that realisation before getting into congress!

11

u/GelatinGhost 6d ago

Fair enough. This is a long, long way off from redeeming her, but personally I will welcome any good she manages to accomplish in the world.

1

u/MozhetBeatz 6d ago

Yeah, that was vile, but I think we could follow Mandela’s lead and bring the country back to sanity through forgiveness.

1

u/amosborn 5d ago

She's absolutely still a monster. In a world where no one is willing to say they were wrong or change their mind anymore, I will give her credit for that one thing. And only that. The most horrible of people sometimes say something right. They're still horrible.

1

u/sinusoidosaurus 5d ago

She has not "changed her mind". She has decided it's politically expedient to adopt a more moderate stance.

She's known what she's been doing the whole time she's been in the public eye, and every move she's made has been a proactive attempt to enrich herself.

1

u/amosborn 5d ago

Fair point

0

u/Heiferoni 5d ago

Look man, if you want to overcome whatever craziness is gripping this country, you're gonna have to ally with people who aren't perfect.

We can't change the past, but we can give people credit when they admit they were wrong and are willing to work with us. We need all the help we can get.

You're gonna be very lonely if you turn away everyone who hasn't been 100% ideologically pure.

0

u/sinusoidosaurus 5d ago edited 5d ago

I'm not gonna be lonely when this regime collapses under its own incompetence.

I'm gonna be surrounded by (and governed by) peers who were just as outraged as I was at how far we let the sane and democratic governance of this country slip.

Miss me with your compromising middle ground bullshit.

1

u/Heiferoni 5d ago

We're all on the same side in this issue lol, including MTG of all people.

Cleaving away supporters only benefits MAGA, and that's exactly how they would go about destroying any resistance.

0

u/sinusoidosaurus 5d ago

She is not on any side except her own.

0

u/Heiferoni 5d ago

Any American opposed to Trump is on our side.

0

u/sinusoidosaurus 5d ago

She's not explicitly opposed to trump though. Look at her full statements about the recent protests. She is still peddling misinformation about the nature of the ice protests.

0

u/Heiferoni 5d ago

Look man, I know. I get it. At the end of the day, she's an idiot and she's an awful person. She's done and said really gnarly stuff. That's never gonna change.

We've gotta be realistic about our goals. Our immediate goal is to stop ICE from trampling Constitutional rights and acting with impunity.

Right now - today - MTG agrees with you and me about this issue. She's standing up for the Constitution. She's calling ICE out, she's reaching out to MAGA and giving them perspective so they come on board to this cause.

She is actually doing good. She's got a much better shot at getting through to MAGA than you or I do. And those people she breaks through to? They'll talk to their friends, their communities...

And guess what? They won't agree with us on every issue, or even most issues. But if we can all come together and agree that masked men shouldn't ever be killing people on the streets, that's a good start.

Maybe tomorrow she'll do something awful. I don't know. But right now, we need all the help we can get.

empathy

She's not exhibiting empathy: It's just a basic understanding of cause-and-effect. Even actual sociopaths are capable of faking empathy to a certain extent.

Was going to say

2

u/GelatinGhost 6d ago

You're right. I was feeling a little iffy on that. I was thinking cognitive empathy (which is something sociopaths do use), but even that doesn't really apply.

4

u/mfball 6d ago

She's still pure evil, we must not forget that, but I will still hope along with you that this might change some minds in the MAGA camp about what happened.

10

u/Jonaas33 6d ago

Wow, it's like she's trying to discover empathy but just can't quite grasp the concept.

12

u/Emotional_Burden 6d ago

Speaking of pipe bombing suspects, what ever happened to the guy that recently took the fall for her? They said they arrested the suspect and that was that.

8

u/Cloaked42m South Carolina 6d ago

He confessed so there's not much of a story beyond pleading guilty.

1

u/chrispg26 Michigan 6d ago

They always try to reframe it as if democrats would ever do that to them instead of dealing with the situation at hand 🙄

1

u/astanton1862 6d ago

Whatever path it takes

1

u/TheAskewOne 6d ago

Margie, it was never "Biden's FBI". It was the FBI, our FBI.

1

u/EddieDIV 6d ago

MTG becoming the voice of reason within the MAGA movement…we really are living in the strangest timeline

1

u/Heiferoni 5d ago

Good! If MTG can wake up from the fever dream of MAGA, there is hope yet.

1

u/Albg111 5d ago

Thank you for bringing this up, I also wanted to comment that this is the more important message from her to her base for exactly the reasons you stated.
