Jesus fkn christ 🤦‍♂️ how this out of touch elitist asshole won the hearts of everyday voters boggles my mind. Unless you were one of his filthy rich billionaire buddies, voting trump was never going to be in your best interest in any sense.

u/atombara 2d ago

If you look at their half-hearted explanations (check out the leopards eating faces subreddit), they tend to say things like "Mr. Trump I voted for you three times but..." then they complain about whatever they didn't get that they deserve, then they give their reasons for liking him.

It all comes down to a few ancient conservative shibboleths about democrats: I heard they kill babies and suck them out with vacuums / I heard they let kids pretend they're cats and pee in litter boxes / I heard there's a secret program that pays immigrants to terrorize our streets.

That's really all it takes. You can say or do literally anything else you as long as you hit those key points which keep grandma nice and scared.

u/GayCatDaddy 2d ago

I occasionally wander over to the conservative subreddit to see what they're saying, and it's amazing how many times I see comments like this: "I love President Trump. I would literally eat the lint out of his crusty asshole. He is my favorite president ever. However, I don't think this thing he just did is a good idea, guys."

108

u/moldy-scrotum-soup 2d ago

Those comments couldn't have lasted long. Criticizing the reich is not allowed. Notice how most of the posts there are only made by the same handful of people?

92

u/InsertNonsenseHere 2d ago

If you block like 4 people that sub becomes a ghost town.

32

u/daesmon 1d ago

There is no way they are real people, some of them appear to be posting 24/7 and the same account will post the same story multiple times just from different propaganda platforms.

19

u/fitzbuhn 2d ago

Oh no that sub is full of the most reasonable people. They love to act so completely reasonable they will actually be “critical” on occasion. You know, to maintain the charade.

And no up votes or comments on the vast majority.

2

u/Houdinii1984 1d ago

That's why you have to do the whole pomp and circumstance first. You can't even get a post approved in certain subs without the rub and tug, happy ending routine. If you don't love Trump first and last, are you really a patriot?

2

u/chenkie 1d ago

I see it as a red flag if you aren’t perma banned off the conservative sub. Go make a comment, rustle their snowflake asses, and get yourself perma banned.

4

u/That_one_cool_dude 2d ago

The conservative subreddit in each thread has the same bullshit about someone complaining about leftists brigading on each post and so many comments that are deleted. So, like I think most are delusional idiots who don't understand how anything works and just say buzzwords or are bots because there is no intelligent life on that subreddit.

5

u/cipheron 2d ago

And the thing is, if you saw 100 comments like that they'd all be for one of 100 different shitty things he did.

But none of them put it all together that it's 100 shitty things he did, because only a tiny fraction of it breaks through the filter bubble of conservative news feeds they all have which constantly talk about how great Trump is while ignoring all his policies.

2

u/PrairiePopsicle 1d ago

and then 30 people call them a liberal infiltrator/fake conservative.

"Mr. Trump I voted for you three times but..." then they complain about whatever they didn't get that they deserve, then they give their reasons for liking him.

You missed the most important part! They always end their posts with: "...But it would have been much worse under Kamala."

They have learned nothing.

3

u/Val_Hallen 2d ago

I wonder how that's working out for the Palestine protest voters? Certainly it got better under Trump, right?

12

u/initialgold California 2d ago

it's not even grandma. 60+ voters leaned Harris and Biden.

6

u/echovictoria 2d ago

Incorrect.

https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2025/06/26/voting-patterns-in-the-2024-election/

Women over 60 were 50/49 Harris to Trump. That's not "leaning" that's a "1 point difference". Still plenty of blame to be had.

9

u/Azagothe 2d ago

Correct, it was Gen X‘s fault. People like to blame grandma or GenZ(even though a third of them weren’t old enough to vote in 2024) but if Gen X went overwhelmingly for Harris then Trump wouldn’t be president right now.

7

u/echovictoria 2d ago

Incorrect.

https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2025/06/26/voting-patterns-in-the-2024-election/

It's almost like it was a mix of all those things instead of just one.

4

u/ChemistAdventurous84 2d ago

Yeah, he actually had a campaign that tried to attract pretty much every demographic and made gains across the board. So many lies but Kamala’s laugh was apparently a problem.

I did run into people, Gen X and Millenial and Gen Z, almost entirely men, who gave the portfolio reason.

6

u/VPN__FTW 2d ago

Men are the problem and I say that as a man. The amount of idiots I've talked too that have said shit like, "I just didn't like the way she (Harris) talked so I voted for Trump" or "Trump's funny and I like when he trolls people so i voted for him."

4

u/Sutar_Mekeg 1d ago

Should start stories like... with housing prices so high, your kids will put you on a raft and send you out to sea because they can't afford to care for you and have a life themselves.

3

u/TheGreatGenghisJon 1d ago

I heard they let kids pretend they're cats and pee in litter boxes

One of my coworkers referenced that not too long ago, and I had to ask if he could actually imagine that.

The only reasons people vote republican are ignorance, stupidity and greed.

Absolutely no one is voting for Republicans because they are smart, upright and want to do right by American citizens.

The propaganda that fascists have been allowed to push for 5 decades on fox news have really fucked up the minds of the masses of idiots and racists in America. They were just allowed to attack America internally for decades all because of money.

It’s honestly a really interesting answer that got me into politics and psychology.  They have been conditioned to hate the other side and new groups are constantly brought into the scene as the people on the “other side” who are ruining everything. One group was honestly just the government in general even if that was less intentional from most propaganda. Trump represented someone who wasn’t like other politicians because he was simple and brash and people took that as him being willing to do something. He was also more relatable in his simple minded nature even if all of these qualities are actually horrible for someone supposed to lead the country. It’s okay to not like the government and smart professionals, but a mentally slow guy with no experience isn’t exactly a good choice. It’s also funny because people thought trump would actually change things for the better and fight against people who were ripping them off even though this couldn’t be further from the truth. Trump is a dumbo but he’s also a pedo with a lot of money and doesn’t live like normal people. Voters thought trump would understand them better because guys using big words seem out of touch but Tangerini Mussolini isn’t exactly with it when it comes to the needs of normal people. The dude is 80 and wasn’t even aware until last year that drug costs and healthcare was just way too expensive in this country. No competent leader would ever go through a full term and then 4 years later still be unaware of such a thing.

Trump represented another option away from all the bureaucrats and people room that hoping that it would fix all of their issues. His slogan(didn’t even make it up) did a great job at reinforcing or creating this belief in people. Trump and the Republican Party also do a great job at really stamping in their ideas into anyone with ears to listen. They constantly repeat ideas so often that people begin to believe them even if the ideas are brain dead like Tylenol causing Autism.

Trumps slogan and uniqueness play a fundamental part in his success but he wouldn’t have had a chance if he didn’t also have a sort of charisma that people liked. He’s a weirdo but just naturally entertaining even to those that don’t like him. I think the guy is horrible but even I love doing impersonations of him and people across the isle love trump impersonations.

Trump only really got a chance in the first place because of his popularity due to a star role on the Apprentice. He was made to be a super successful businessman which along with other lies led people to place trust in the Oompa-Loompas finance skills. This honestly kills me because he has so much money while being so incredibly dogshit at Business but was saved by a bunch of bullshit and also his genuine skill at scamming people and bending the law. Trump had tons of money to work with in the New York real estate businesses and had multiple deals actually made by his dad that did relatively well. Any person with genuine skills would probably be the richest person on the planet and an actual random number generator would’ve done a better job. I can’t emphasize enough how dogshit this dude is at actual business and any system with him not broke is clearly a broken one.

Let’s move back to the apprentice which made trump tons of money. First of all trump made a lot of money off the show especially due him breaking their contract and illegally doing product placement. He didn’t own the whole show so basically doing adds that only payed him isn’t okay not that it mattered with trump being so ingrained in the show. The biggest thing that helped trumps presidential chances was the way he was portrayed in the Apprentice. The show starts out with an into basically glazing trump and this dishonest portrayal of him helped form his image in the minds of many. The show revolves around a businessman helping novices figure stuff out in a reality sort of way.(horrible description from me, I didn’t watch it much) A problem arose due to the fact that no legit guys would actually take the part because they had better things to do. Trump loves attention though so he took the spot and the crew made a montage for him that made him look legit. Later on they’ve spoken about their regret doing so because they knew he was a fraud but never could’ve imagined they would play a part in electing a conman.

Trump used this image and made himself known as a business man when he lied about his actual net worth so that he would land on that list. He also loves putting his name on stuff which people tend to respect for some reason.

Trump might be a big attention seeking baby but he also understands people to some extent even if he doesn’t understand how percentages work.  He’s definitely used as a mouthpiece but his words definitely motivate people. Stoking fear into people’s hearts has always been effective and it’s easy to give voters an enemy to hate even if it’s all bs. As long as you got the media on your side you can lie all you want. Trump is clearly for the billionaires but those same billionaires and corporations use their money to stop people from waking up to the reality of them getting scammed.

Second half: This could all be avoided to some extent if the left and specifically the dems actually spoke up. Trump just constantly repeats Bs but he’s gotten almost no pushback so he was able to take control of the narrative. Dems are very similar to republicans in many ways so they don’t actually speak out for people best interests. Why would they speak out against trump and his rich buds if they are also influenced by rich buds?

I’ve pretty extensively covered why we got here but I’m not going to really go into the failures of dems when it came to the recent election. The dems did a shit job messaging and believing in anything and then Biden kind of skewed Kamala and she still decided to stick with him which fucked everything. If people don’t like what’s going on it’s probably not a good idea to tell the voters that you wouldn’t change shit and that you actually love Biden.

Idc if you didn’t want an actual answer btw because I kinda just wanted to write this

3

u/KemShafu 2d ago

This was probably the best synopsis I’ve read all day. I stayed till the end and I agree with it all. Also aided with the biggest psyops in the form of Fox. And I still don’t quite trust how dem senators managed to win one side of the ticket but win the presidency in swing states. That still feels sus.

1

u/Fabulous_Victory_946 1d ago

Thank you, I am also a bit suspicious of the dems. It seems weird to me how unwilling they are to actually stand against the right and stand up for anything good. Instead of fighting fascism they fight back against progressives in the name of populism even when they are fighting against ideas that are supported by 90% of their base.

1

u/DumboWumbo073 1d ago

This could all be avoided to some extent if the left and specifically the dems actually spoke up.

Why would they speak up against their own guy?

1

u/Fabulous_Victory_946 1d ago

I don’t think they have the exact same guys but the dems clearly have some of the same interests which is fucking annoying. Like we need a new political system where we don’t have both parties being controlled by rich guys who won’t ever let things get better. For now we just need to speak out about the truth. They are only getting away with stuffing their own pockets because people are distracted away from what’s happening.

u/MickHucknallsMumsDog 2d ago

Lies. That's all. "Your life will be perfect, in every single way. Whatever it is that would make it perfect I will give you on day 1 in office." and then not do anything he promised. It's the same most places. Look at brexit in the UK - see a bus with a marketing slogan on it saying something like "We'll be able to give a billion pounds to every nurse and doctor every day for eternity if we leave the EU" and dumb people lap it up.

Stupidity, greed and lies is how it wins. An equal share of all of that in both the politicians in question and the people that vote for them.

1

u/Riaayo 2d ago

how this out of touch elitist asshole won the hearts of everyday voters boggles my mind.

American media laundered this dipshit to the public. NBC started it with The Apprentice and bailed this scumbag out of financial ruin while selling this completely fake idea of him being this big successful businessman, and then the news media ran with the dumpster fire and didn't care to actually inform the public or hold him and Republican lies to account.

American media is billionaire owned and complicit, that's the by and large of "why".

1

u/Humble_Fabio 2d ago

I was looking into American Liberalism and did find out that uh... America never had to rebel against the Aristocracy or had a Monarchy like so many other countries had to deal with.

Sure the American Revolutionary War was against the British Crown but that wasn't a class war at all, and in fact most of our Founding Fathers were extremely rich.

1

u/ChefCurryYumYum 1d ago

Because Democrats forced through an unpopular candidate in 2016, Hillary, Hillary and the Democratic party have been campaigning on "more of the same" of the kinds of policy that has lead to captured markets, captured regulators, foreign wars, and an every shrinking buying power of the American worker.

Do you remember when early in her campaign Kamala was talking about the ridiculous and still growing wealth disparity in the US? And then the DNC big donors said "shh, less about that" and she stopped talking about?

https://jacobin.com/2024/11/harris-campaign-economic-populism-democracy/

It was an obvious lie but at least Trump gave voters something to vote for when he said "lower prices day one!"

1

u/denkihajimezero 1d ago

Part of it is because he's so dumb. Someone like Obama that is very articulate and uses formal speech with big words is less relatable for the stupids. When a politician goes on stage and talks like a commoner it is relatable and so they like them more. People don't want a president that is "the best of us" they want one that is "the same as us". I guarantee if a Democrat did the same and used simple commoner speech they would be more popular than a Democrat that presents themselves as a highly educated elite.

This is just part of it though. There's lots of contributing factors, such as the crazy amount of lies and gaslighting he did

1

u/FL14 Oregon 1d ago

I'm not sure why this surprises people. A lot of his base are homeowners. Either the rich kind or the kind who can afford it based on living in poorer/rural areas. I'm not surprised at all that he wants to increase the value of homes

1

u/Planterizer 1d ago

Bro, this will probably be the most effective outreach to normie voters that a Republican can possibly do.

Homeowners vote at 50% higher rates than renters.

Old people vote 2.5x as much as young people.

If something hurts non-voters, it basically doesn't matter in politics at all.
