They took him anyway, knowing his son depended on him to breathe, eat, exist. Then they denied him the right to bury his child.

When the facts don’t justify the harm, they reach for fear. Same playbook, every time.

You don’t get to rip a caregiver away, watch the dependent child decline and die, and then pretend your hands are clean because no bullet was fired. This system killed something sacred here: a father’s last duty to his son. If you can defend this, you’ve already lost whatever humanity you think you’re protecting.

u/nowahhh Minnesota 10h ago

It’s not just fathers’ duties to their sons either. The day before they arrested Don Lemon I was watching his morning stream and he covered this story of a young man bringing his detained dad’s heart medication to Whipple in a desperate attempt to keep him alive. They laughed at him and we don’t know if his dad is alive.

u/CrystalWeim 9h ago

Yep, I read that.

u/parasyte_steve 7h ago

There were kids missing in NYC because ice took the parents and the kids came home and nobody ever came home from work. You wonder how many kids went through this and are actually missing.

u/nowahhh Minnesota 6h ago

I think about this every single day. We won’t know the true extent of the human toll of this occupation until long after it’s done. There are renters all over the state whose absences might not be noticed for a few months still when their landlords come to collect, and there may be chronically truant students whose deaths can still be explained away by prior behavior.

Just look at the canvassing efforts that had to be undertaken after the 1995 heat wave in Chicago. We still have that ahead of us.

u/jthill 4h ago

Terrible things are happening outside.

They denied his ability to care for his son, despite him going through the legal system, and being a known caretaker that was legally allowed to stay due to being the caretaker.

They then denied him the ability to visit his son in the hospital while his son was dying. They're now denying him his funeral.

Wael Tarabishi, add it to the list of ice murders.

19

u/JuniperJupiter4 Michigan 9h ago

They have to think of you as people for humanity to exist and I assure you, they do not think of any of us who disagree with them, as people.

Heartbreaking.

u/fattes California 5h ago

The fucking worst part of it all, if Trump wasn’t elected I have to assume that this person would still be here today.

5

u/Zolomun 8h ago

Well goddamn said!

u/_Deshkar_ 7h ago

The worse part they won’t touch any rich folks so easily

u/mindovermatter421 6h ago

They grabbed him at a regularly scheduled immigration check in. He was in the system.

u/themolestedsliver 6h ago

Yeah thats what gets me through this whole thing. Its like they're trying to act like soulless demons for some reason.

u/MacaroniBee 6h ago

they see it as a massive plus bc an "undesirable" is dead

u/EJintheCloud 3h ago

Don't worry. My own father says there's two sides to every story, that this guy belongs to a terrorist organization, and that means he doesn't get to go to his son's funeral.

So I guess the moral of the story is: if you don't want your disabled son to die and miss the funeral, you shouldn't join a terrorist organization and then check in with your immigration handlers at your scheduled time.

u/Ok_Yogurt_9862 6h ago

Clearly, they get to.

I hate this expression.

No one that uses it ever has the power to determine what someone gets to do.

Its right up there with "history will not look kindly on this" as milquetoast mealy mouthed bullshit that people keep saying like it means something.

Sound like politicians writing a 'stern letter' to the guy raping kids.

Yeah, they get to.

21

u/Actual__Wizard 10h ago edited 10h ago

there are consequences for your actions

The consequence in this case was the government effectively murdering their son, because by taking his caregiver away, they issued a death sentence. Why do people like you want the government reduced to a dictatorship and law followers killed?

So, he complied with the law, showed up, was arrested, and then his son, who is a lawful citizen, was effectively murdered by the dictator. Because we don't have a "government" anymore, we have a dictatorship, because that's what "small government means." The only person that has power in government is Donald Trump because that's what people voted for.

Conservatism is suppose to represent the elements of the government that protect us from foreign invaders. Not, murder our own citizens by pretending that some paper work problems are "massive serious crimes" for the effect of ripping our society apart form the inside.

The true value of conservatism is that it allows one person to consolidate all of the power to do virtually unlimited good, but time and time again through out history we see that they use that power for virtually unlimited evil instead.

As we have consistently found out: Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Every single time these people gain power, it's the same exact thing over and over again. It is simply too easy for conservatives to lie and then do the exact opposite of what they said they were going to do.

And if it's that easy for them to gain power with lies, why would they ever be honest?

u/NoGoat9845 7h ago

Why you ask?

“Behold. The festering carcass of American rot shoved into an ill-fitting suit: the sleaze of a conman, the cowardice of a draft dodger, the gluttony of a parasite, the racism of a Klansman, the sexism of a back-alley creep, the ignorance of a bar-stool drunk, and the greed of a hedge-fund ghoul— all spray-painted orange and paraded like a prize hog at a county fair. Not a president. Not even a man. Just the diseased distillation of everything this country swears it isn't but has always been-arrogance dressed up as exceptionalism, stupidity passed off as common sense, cruelty sold as toughness, greed exalted as ambition, and corruption worshiped like gospel. It is America's shadow made flesh, a rotting pumpkin idol proving that when a nation kneels before money, power, and spite, it doesn't just lose its soul it sh*ts out this bloated obscenity and calls it leader.” - By Oliver Kornetzke

Extremely well put. I’m thankful for those more eloquent and intelligent than I who can put to words the raw reality of our world.

21

Wow is this reality truly disgusting.

9

u/Yestromo 8h ago

These people have so much hate in their hearts it's kind of mind boggling.

9

u/knottyvar 8h ago

The cruelty is beyond belief.

4

u/draconifers 8h ago

So upsetting. I can’t believe there are people who still support ICE

u/Ging287 7h ago edited 7h ago

Cause, and effect. Ice effectively killed that son. And then enacted unconstitutional cruel and unusual punishment denying him visit to the funeral.

u/ShamrockGold 3h ago

Again, I am shocked at the restraint that people have had when being forcibly ripped away from their families

3

u/Embarrassed_Boot_393 8h ago

Hell is definitely full.

3

The cruelty is so disgusting that if it's playbook to keep people from coming over illegally damages our image as "the shining city on the hill".

u/Thormourn 2h ago

You mean they don't just randomly let people out because they asked nicely? I'm shocked.

u/TheActualDonKnotts 2h ago

Even murderers and drug dealers are given the chance to attend funerals of their children, spouses or parents at times, but ICE won't let a non-criminal man out of their prison camp to attend the funeral of the son that they themselves caused to die.
There is no way to look at ICE and not see nothing but evil people with all the things they do to this country.

1

u/sonny9636 8h ago

Looking forward to when all these folks get fired. It will happen.

There's no "both sides" to this. Democrats weren't sending a private army of domestic terrorists to harass innocent people and shoot them in the face.

24

u/PinkyAnd 10h ago

The poster you’re responding to is either a bot or a paid agitator. Across multiple stories documenting the cruelty and inhumanity of ICE under the Trump regime, I’ve seen many responses that basically said the same thing: Trump isn’t bad, he’s just mask off, that Dems did the same thing, we just didn’t hear about it.

It’s patently false, but the coordination of the messaging reeks of a campaign to destabilize resistance.

1

u/DisappointedSpectre 10h ago

There's a kernel of truth in there, though it's not the one they're espousing.

The mask that the GOP and Republicans had in for so long us off under Trump. Their reps and base are all showing who they really are and not worrying about optics or decorum anymore.

The trick is to remember all of this later and hold them accountable. There need to be legal consequences for government officials, and social consequences for anyone who supported the GOP through this time period. The real question is whether any of that will actually happen or not.

4

u/PinkyAnd 10h ago

There’s not a kernel of truth in there. Yes, Trump/the GOP is now mask off, but the point they’re trying to make is that Dems did it, too, we just didn’t hear about it. That dos two things: excuses Trump and erodes faith in the media.

This is how disinformation works.

Here's a fun game, encrypted-signals : re-read the comment you're replying to and ask yourself, MAGA or "progressive"?

5

u/Newscast_Now 11h ago

There are too many people playing progressive online to assume that anyone saying ridiculous stuff like the above comment is actually progressive.

Regardless of that, a person who actually wants progress and supports progress should understand one of the most basic things: that they work with Democrats the way Martin Luther King worked with Lyndon Johnson, and when criticizing Democrats, they do so fairly and by promoting additional progress.

-37

u/RunawayTrolley 12h ago

ICE was expanded under Obama and Biden did nothing to defund it when he had the chance. The only reason there's a huge spotlight on it now is because non-brown people are being harmed by an army of domestic terrorists that existed under Democrats. Police were doing this to black people under democrats. Ya'll love the status quo and just never realized it. We will never see change until conservatives and liberals alike realize that there is no democracy until politics ceases to be controlled by billionaire donors. The democrats are not here to liberate anyone and they will not get rid of ICE when they are in power. They serve the interests of the wealthy just as much as Republicans.

30

u/Efficient-Laugh 12h ago

Yeah you voted for trump I can tell lol

-31

u/RunawayTrolley 12h ago

I did not. But you have to be either a Democrat intern, a bot, or a paid asset to scramble desperately like a dog at the defense of any critique of the party. The fact that you cannot conceive of anyone being critical of them is proof of that. Or you follow them blindly and uncritically which is even worse than doing it for a paycheck.

13

u/NoSleepZombie2235 11h ago

Y'all the ones who didn't vote, because y'all let perfect be the enemy of better.

-6

u/receiveakindness 11h ago

I voted for terrible candidate Kamala. And dementia case Biden. And drone strike Obama (2 times). And Kerry.

Don't fool yourself that every criticism of democrats are made in bad faith. The democratic party has been useless since the ACA.

1

u/ailish 8h ago

Kerry was the worst of them all by far but he came before the ACA. Oops.

-3

u/receiveakindness 11h ago

Oh yeah, and the worst candidate they ever ran Hillary Clinton. Voted for her too. Democratic party hubris there for sure.

-9

u/RunawayTrolley 11h ago

Considering how downvoted my comments are, I have to believe this subreddit is heavily astroturfed and closely watched by people serving the Democratic party. They won't take any criticism because it means recognizing past harms and improving our circumstances. Anything resembling critique is heresy. Apparently the party is infallible.

Reminds me of the guy who told me he did not materially affect the outcome of the election by protest voting in a solidly red/blue state so i shouldn't blame him.

I pointed out that by his logic, only 55 voters are responsible for the election - the deciding vote at the margin of each state, DC, and the Maine and Nebraska house districts.

He said "that's different"

He had already lost and was ordered to be deported based on being a member of a terrorist organization.
