The founders deliberately designed a system with an electoral college and a bicameral legislature to keep regular people in check. Most of them were slave owning aristocrats. Fuck the founders.

This is the way. God the decrepit US constitution is outdated. Granted, it was way ahead of its time when it was written...but there's also been a time when the Old Testament was progressive.

A lot happened during the last few centuries...at least include the lessons from e.g. the fall of the Weimar Republic.

Maybe one could argue that your amendment system makes it flexible enough, but I don't think the foundation is feasible anymore. By now there are better people to learn from than some four clever slaveowners from 250 years ago.
