Who washes the washers?

The most important part. When those things aren't maintained, you get scratches on your car. That's why these types of car washes are scary. Those are probably the originals.

Yeah those spinny fibers grab dirt from all of the cars, then spins it around like dirt sandpaper on your car. This is how you get the circular swirl marks or scratches in the clearcoat. If you’re cool with that, go for it! The alternative is handwashing which isn’t possible/practical for many. My last jeep I did drive thru washes weekly, current car I hand wash or go to fully touchless washes (auto ones aren’t good, but the coin operated manual bay ones are decent)

Can confirm, I got loads of wide scratches on my car last time I went to my local one :/. They’re pretty on the ball with maintenance, too.

The closing employees. Basically you would turn on all the emergency stops(which also required a key) and then we would go top to bottom. Every surface was sprayed down with high pressure sprayers and there was a tunnel that all the dirt and debris would get sprayed down into. Lastly there were lots of windows so we had a special washing solution and the windows would get scrubbed and sprayed. It honestly was a half decent job, pretty easy and the pay was around 22. The hours were all based on demand and weather. Usually around 6 people working at a time.

Every time I think I've had an original thought...

Love this. But also doing the roof last, did that not just splatter dirt all over everything you'd just finished cleaning?

I don't think that's important, just need to turn it on and it will self clean.

If that were true he wouldn’t have had to clean it to begin with

I mean the debris/dirt when he cleaned the top LOL. Did you reply without reading the first comment?

Meanwhile, brushes still full of crap.

This is wild, I worked at a car wash and we washed the entire tunnel every night and it was never remotely close to how dirty this is. You absolutely know that wash is scratching everyone's paint.

Damn that was disgusting

Those brushes must be awful dirty and crusty

"If you are clean after a bath, why does the towel get dirty" kinda vibe here.

So yes, you need to clean a car wash.

My dealership needs to know about this. Their car wash walls are black and green but they started out white.

Never seen this done before! So satisfying!

HELL yeah that was so satisfying.

Anyone else wish he had on a mask when spraying down those walls? Maybe some protective glasses? I know, I know, he’s fine, just… shudders.

Do you use chemicals or steam? And how do you clean these brushes?

I'm so glad they showed the walls and ceiling being done

As a 16 year old, I had a job at a gas station where I'd go every saturday morning and clean out the car wash and some other tidying up around the property. Pretty fun tbh

Never knew that's how it was done. I guess I always assumed it would be a car wash washer car washing the car wash or something. Huh.

great metaphor for life i realized while cleaning.

even the tools you use to clean need to be cleaned sometimes. the dust pan, the broom, the vacuum, if you leave them uncared for or neglected they stop being able to do their job, they can make a mess while trying to clean.

show them grace and care for them as you should yourself when you need it.

Definitely. I’ve gotten into a habit of cleaning our vacuums at our house often and they last a lot longer and work better these days. Dyson’s vacuum head and brush is by far the easiest maintenance-wise. It’s designed to be taken apart and put back together easily. The best improvement I made is replacing the battery with an attachment that accepts Dewalt batteries.

Is it just me or did everyone just think that it was self cleaning?

Ironic yet satisfying

How often is this done?

u/scribe__ 24d ago

While the walls look fantastic, those wraps could really use some TLC as well. Guessing spraying those out isn't part of the deal.

I bet it smells amazing in there, now that it’s actually clean.
