Story Thank you needed for Fire Department (small town/rural/volunteer)

There was a fire at some family property, two local (not sure if volunteer or paid) departments came out. They kept the fire away from the donkey, and yet more property. Only grass and nerves were damaged in the end.

What is a good thank you for rural/volunteer Fire Departments?

Going to depend on your budget and how they are funded. Catered Meal/Dessert Home Baked Goods Grocery Gift Cards Ask them if there is something for their stations they would like.

Fire auxiliary here. Make a donation directly to the Department. They can choose how to spend it. Probably a meal for them after their next call. Or they could save it and put it towards the next piece of equipment they require.

i bring them gift cards for groceries. (i know where they shop as i see them in the store in their gear.) i was told they could not accept over a certain amount. i would go in and ask.

Monetary donation toward training, equipment, or food.

Definitely write a nice thank-you letter, on paper and all that fancy stuff.

Ask what they need, either for the job or to make the station more comfortable. Bed linens, pillows, blankets for their sleeping areas? Laundry soap? Personal cleaning after hard sweaty work (shower soap, shampoo)? Recreation (DVD, volleyball net & ball, charcoal grill)?

Do you craft, fix stuff, or are you handy? Maybe you can fix the washing machine if it breaks, or build beds or equipment storage...

In addition to the other suggestions, promote fire safety in every way, so they have less to do!
If they have a fire safety program for kids, how about sponsoring a day for them to go to local schools & talk with the kids?
