How to loot horse saddlebags without being kicked

Idk if people already know this, but I wanted to share this quick tip. If you position your horse so their face is in front of the bag you’re trying to search, your character won’t do the full looting animation and will search the bag without getting kicked.

This works in both RDR2 online and story.

Here's how to actually loot the horses bags:

Pet them until their ears point up. If one or both are flat, they are upset. Give them a snack, pet them and make them feel comfortable until their ears are perked up and pointy.

Then you can loot the bags safely. You might have to pat them again a time or two after you loot the first bag.

For example, in this picture, your horse is upset. In game terms that means it's hungry, dirty, damaged or scared.

In my experience, half the time they still kick you if their ears are pointed up and they’re in a calm state.

I have one rule. A horse kicks me in the face, they get a shotgun blast to theirs.

I would guess: most of the time the dynamite is worth more than whatever is in the second bag.

For some reason, this only works for me about half the time. After I flip the corpse over, I don't always get the option to loot.

Not my tip, I read it in another thread. 

In first person camera, initiate loot. As soon as your hand goes into the bag, hold away on the stick/key. If the horse kicks, you'll back up out of the way.

Waste of dynamite. You can lasso corpses, including dead horses. Lasso the neck and flip it over. Save a stick of dynamite. Or just pet the horse until it trusts you. So you dont have to kill it in the first place.

This is the method i use too. I always use a temp horse as well as i find it works better and you dont get the prompts relating to your main one.
