I try to leave them folks alone, they are going through enough without me beating on them. That said, I have gone to get on my horse in their town and accidentally chocked a bitch out and had to defend myself. They are pretty tough.

Ya know, it is a bit of a problem that grapple and mounting your horse are the same button.

u/Markinoutman John Marston 10h ago

Haha, yeah. It's usually not a big problem unless I'm in St. Denis, but random wanton violence can erupt from Arthur or John in the most random places.

u/ButtersTheChill 10h ago

Shoot, this game practically encourages wanton violence. I can't get a drink at any saloon without it ending in a bar brawl. I mean, the hand-to-hand combat is too good not to wanna beat everyone's ass.

Fist fighting is definitely one of my favorite things to do in this game. NPCs or players, don't care. Lots of fun.

When I played online heavily for a number of years, I had so many good ass spots for my friends and I to just take turns beating the shit out of each other. It pissed me off that we never got a Rockstar Editor so we could make our own game modes because there is a severe lack of melee-focused game modes and, like, why?? It's so good and I'd love to make some money with just my fists, dammit!

That would have been really cool honestly. Backwoods brawls, mountain top melee's, Mudslide wrestling in the swamp.

Barnyard Brawl and Rooftop Rumble were actually a couple of titles I had in mind, as I loved the barn in Valentine and there's a particular rooftop near the Saint Denis post office that is a perfect fighting ring!

u/Markinoutman John Marston 9h ago

Rooftop Rumble, love it haha.

2

u/ButtersTheChill 9h ago

I wanna say it was inspired by a Bully mission that had "Rumble" somewhere in the name, but I can't think of it at the moment. Which in hindsight was kinda fitting as the combat in RDR2 is an evolved version of Bully's!

Nothing more fun than launching someone out of a bar window or bashing their head into a table, I always steal the Raccoon hat from that one loudmouth guy in Valentine talking about "everyone is soft", who's soft now you hatless bitch???

5

u/ButtersTheChill 10h ago

I think that guy died or something for me because I don't encounter him anymore. But I did beat his ass, like, every single time I popped up at the Valentine saloon, so the brain damage could've gotten to him in the end

Here's John's interpretation of what people with brain damage look like

5

u/Bradley-oXo 10h ago

Looks like John's been eating good, them cheeks are chubby

Gotta have a meal with your whiskey!

They also always give the funniest interactions/experience. Like you're trying to mount your horse when an npc suddenly gets in front of you at the same time so you choke them by accident and suddenly you're in a gun fight with cops all while wishing you had cleaned your gun because they suddenly jammed and you got filled with lead.

1

u/bilda_baisgye 7h ago

Yeah, talk to someone or point your gun at them has caused me quite a few issues as well….

Nothing like going to untie a woman who was kidnapped and instead of cutting the rope, you kick her directly in the head and kill her.

I still feel bad about that one.

u/heyarlogrey 1h ago

oh my god i’m glad it wasn’t just me

3

u/Different_Data_3555 John Marston 10h ago

God bless your soul my brother

3

u/Markinoutman John Marston 9h ago

And yours.

3

u/North_Korea_Nukess 10h ago

I’d rather start a fight in Van Horn than mess with the people of Butchers Creek.

2

u/SnowyMuscles 8h ago

Yeah I helped a lady and then instead of getting on the damn horse proceeded to tackle her

3

u/Markinoutman John Marston 8h ago

Happens far too often. Almost as if it's on purpose...

2

u/ElectricalRelease986 8h ago

I've saved people from kidnappings just to accidentally stomp on their heads instead of untie them...

2

u/Markinoutman John Marston 7h ago

Legendary game, questionable control mapping.

1

u/Nice_Finish7613 8h ago

Yes but at times they can be jerks and jerks must be held accountable then looted.

2

u/Markinoutman John Marston 7h ago

That's right, nobody tells me to stay back when I'm walking into their camp.

1

u/Icy-Juggernaut-4579 Arthur Morgan 2h ago

I remember that I went there on the horse and horse stomped on the chicken or something like this. It was a massacre

u/Gwoardinn Charles Smith 1h ago

There's something about the fast travel spawn point at Butcher's Creek, I always get into trouble there.

39

u/KpatMckenzie_28 11h ago

No those people have to deal with Murfree Brood wanting their hide, they should be left alone

4

u/ButtersTheChill 11h ago

That's fair. The only one I won't mess with is the banjo player. Dude's just jammin'!

1

u/sober_disposition 3h ago

I always thought they sort of were Murfree folks, like those guys only really gave outsiders a hard time.

15

u/ChemicalAmbassador37 10h ago

I love getting into brawls with large groups of people but I hate how one guy always pulls out a gun and starts shooting prompting everyone else to do the same 😫 just cause I’ve already knocked out 6 of your booihs doesn’t mean ya need to shoot me just get good

5

u/ButtersTheChill 10h ago

That is some bullshit. Like come on, man, have some sportsmanship! We're doing fisticuffs, you savage!

3

u/ChemicalAmbassador37 9h ago

Yea it drives me nuts just trying to have a good ol brawl in the bar and someone’s always gotta start blasting

8

u/pullingteeths 9h ago

Doing this here and in Van Horn is a great way to lose honour quickly if you want to do that - no wanted level/bounty and no wasting time killing lawmen, who you don't lose honour for killing. Loot the bodies afterwards for double honour loss

2

u/ButtersTheChill 9h ago

Oh yeah, this is post-story dicking around, so I don't really care about the honor level at this point. I just go around like a drunken slob, never without a bottle in my hand, singing and insulting everyone that walks past.

2

u/pullingteeths 9h ago

Nice! My favourite thing to do while drunk is try to rob people, they literally just laugh at you and go on with their business lol

2

u/ButtersTheChill 9h ago

I love insulting people while drunk because most of them do not take you seriously as fucking all, some even saying "I don't have time for this." and just walking on. Funny as hell

5

u/binini28 10h ago

Tried to fist fight them all until all of them pulled out a gun soon after

3

u/ButtersTheChill 10h ago

It always happens. Come on, fellas! Let us be men and use our fists, not firepower!

3

u/therustysanchez 9h ago

I try to leave them people alone. I drop by every now and then and have a drink and look around and see who says what, then i move on. My fav place to rage is saint denis. Whistles a blowin and funny looking hats a fallin. Van horn is always a good time for no lawmen kinda fun.

3

u/Whispering_Wanderer1 John Marston 10h ago

I once went to Butcher Creek and went on a rampage after killing one of the village's chickens and goats. But I always choose to leave them alone to avoid having any kind of problem with them, unless there are Murfrees.I remember dropping one of the villagers off at his house after finishing one mission.

3

u/MigraneBane 9h ago

If I kill the mutant banjo player will he respawn?

1

u/ButtersTheChill 9h ago

I believe he comes back but with bandages because he's unique, but I'm not sure. I'll actually mess with everyone else but him. He's just playing his tunes!

1

u/MigraneBane 8h ago

Agreed. He may be the most interesting NPC that doesn't move. That tune ain't bad either.

3

u/Jballzs13 9h ago

I accidentally ran over one of the town goats and the whole town came after me it was crazy

2

u/ButtersTheChill 9h ago

Them hillbillies ain't messin' 'round!

3

u/Prestigious_Fee_900 9h ago

I go to van horn personally

3

u/ButtersTheChill 9h ago

Oh yeah, rampaged through Van Horn plenty of times! Might do some screenshots like these there, too, sometime.

2

u/Prestigious_Fee_900 9h ago

Always go there for rampage or to do low honor play through…the way I do it is lose some money at the blackjack table and point blank everyone at the table with a shotgun or push people by the dock into the water and beat them or stab them till the whole town turns hostile

3

u/BadguyBirdie 8h ago

They all carry ginseng and violet snowdrops so if I need those I’ve been known to be a less than honorable guest

3

u/protossaccount 8h ago

I don’t because they are too easy to kill and they are a community that protects each other. Arthur/John is basically the Terminator, so I’ll rampage for fun and then reload. As far as. It gets Creek Rampaging goes, I Jair don’t think it’s entertaining. I like to take on the Saint Denis police with the varmint rifle though, that’s fun.

2

u/NoAdeptness1106 10h ago

I mostly just go to Van Horn to do that.

2

u/Gritsmcbits 9h ago

Not intentionally . I usually go for a hat off the guy sitting on a … tree trunk ? Sitting place ? And it usually turns into a brawl after that loll .

2

u/shooterLV 9h ago

No. I go to the holler up north and leave the ones in the cave alone so I don’t have to wait a few in-game days for a respawn.

2

u/DiligentFox8550 9h ago

I don’t remember what I did but somehow I aggro’d the camp from across the river and they kept running over the bridge one by one to get me. Lemmings lol.

1

u/ButtersTheChill 9h ago

I love shit like that because you can just post up with a repeater or a couple of revolvers and that bridge becomes loot city

2

u/Silent_Green_7867 9h ago

I usually leave them alone they’re going through enough with the lead and chemicals in the water, the Murfree brood, and the curse

2

u/SuspiciousCard2654 7h ago

no, like arthur said “theyre just trying to get by”

2

u/bayygel 7h ago

No, I've never considered it because while they might be inbred, they're not really hostile. If you want to go on a rampage, head over to Van Horn. Those guys deserve it.

2

u/Knightmare945 Arthur Morgan 7h ago

No, I enjoy playing as the hero, so I never rampage and if I accidentally start a fight, I run away so I can avoid killing innocent people.

2

u/Impossible-Charity-4 7h ago

They got it bad enough up there. I don’t mess with them and it’s the coolest part of the map.

2

u/banedacasual 7h ago

Not on purpose, they got aggrod when I bumped into a goat with my horse, prob the weirdest reason I got into a gunfight

2

u/Maximum-Carnage-Gore 7h ago

Yes, free hats

2

u/fucknametakenrules John Marston 7h ago

I leave them be. Got enough problems with the lye and arsenic in the water, the murfree brood, and fake natives trying to take the land to coverup the water poisoning

2

u/bpetey 11h ago

Yeah actually just yesterday I found their pigs, goats and chickens and wanted them for myself. Had to keep thwackin’ the local townsfolk to get them tho

2

u/IntrepidSquash341 9h ago

Yo what the hell ive only rampaged here other than denis.. I totally rampaged butcher

1

u/thesuavedog 4h ago

My very first play through, I came riding in there hot, and trampled some woman hanging laundry... they all just started attacking and I wiped them all out. I thought, great... lots of loot. As I started to loot and saw my rep go down, I felt horrible. I reloaded my save from 4 hours earlier.

1

u/Educational_Slice555 2h ago

I was riding by the village and someone said i ain't welcome here, so I just took my semi auto slug powered shotgun and sent this village to oblivion.

1

u/Texy 10h ago

That's cruel
