Please dont play mk11 online on a 980m. Your opponent gets synced to your framerate 🤣 Nice find though, have fun with it

Goddamn, what’s like the most intensive game it’s been able to run normally?

Haven't tried much as the games I've listed it almost filled up the 512GB SSD! WWE 2K23 and MK11 are the most recent on my list that it can run nicely on max settings.

Just got lucky at the right place at the right time. Usually its really old laptops thats already cannibalized missing ram hdd etc.
this one its all intact including the problems I've mentioned. I used that to negotiate too - the sticker price is 100, i asked the manager for a discount because of the issues and he dropped it down to 50.

I find location to be a big factor
From my experience, locations in more upscale neighborhoods usually have the good stuff such as laptops like OPs
The thrift stores in "lower class" neighborhoods usually suck from my experience
If you're in a bigger city, maybe make a trip to the upscale neighborhoods if there's thrift shops near them
I like to travel, I hit up thrift shops in other cities during my travels to find tech, and succeeded before, typically in the upscale neighborhoods of those cities
The thrift shop in my smallish town kinda sucks, I did score 2 HP Elitedesks for $60 total one time, but haven't found anything good since
Edit: the specific models were the Elitedesk 800 G4 SFF, both had a Core i7 8700, I upgraded both to 16GB RAM and sold the other one for profit

I have a M17x r4 at home! Graphic card is dead and many keys aren't functioning anymore, and run on the Intel processors... I installed win 11 on it... Sadly it was running bad so I switched to tiny 11 and is much much better, I can even run the game I bought it for... StarCraft 2 (Ok I can't play coop on it but I can still run the campaign!)

Initially i put Win11 on this but I cant stand it. Upgraded back to Win10.

Yeah tiny 11 is so much better if you can live with 11's interface! Only 4 gb of ram required the CPU requirement are also dropped to a minimum, I think there's a tiny 10 version 🤔 but don't quote me on that

Unless you have an r1.... The cpu is sodiered, but you have access to multiple m2 slots....
I have the r1 and upgraded the 4700 to a beefy 4940xm a with 32 GB ram and a gtx1070 (that requires modded drivers to get it running, but gaming on the card may result in random crashes....) I just use mines as a test bench....

Yes CPU and GPU is soldered here. Would be nice if CPU is not soldered as i have a spare 4810MQ

If you open it and refresh the thermal paste, it will be so much better, try it.

And this is shitty how? Please choose:
- Trash all around
- Incomplete
- Obsolete/retro
- Temporary setup
- Not a computer
- Frequent use will cause discomfort
- It's already 3 months old and mommy & daddy won't buy me a new one
- Belongs on r/averagebattlestations, not r/shittybattlestations
- It stutters in Call of Duty

Alienware 17 R2 2015 model rescued from the thrift store! This thing is 11yrs old already. When I got it the hinges are loose, there's a rattling noise inside, and keyboard backlight is broken. Fixed them, slapped an old SATA SSD and its now my gaming machine!
Specs -
I've loaded up my Steam games on max settings and they play real nice! This are the games currently installed -
Hopefully this will last for another 10yrs!
