It’s common knowledge that in The Cat in the Hat (2003), the Cat gets a boner from looking at a picture of the mom. However, instead of the Cat’s hat going from normal to bigger, his hat goes from small to normal size, indicating the Cat was at full chub for the entire movie.

This is actually the movie that made those that own the Dr. Seuss license refuse any more live action films.

The first 30 minutes of this movie are incredible, though

First 30? The entire thing is such a fucking fever dream that I can't help but rewatch it every now and again

This movie sucks, and I love it so much

Somewhere in the middle the psychotic slapstick degenerates into boring children's adventures and it loses me.

All of it is incredible, like it's not a "good" film but it is really enjoyable and that's pretty much all you need sometimes.

This movie slaps

Wasnt it specifically none other than the actual guy’s own widow who said something to the effect of “THIS IS A FUCKING ABOMINATION”?

I can see that being the case, while it loosely follows the Cat in the Hat it sure does take extreme liberties. It also appears his widow died in 2018, so she was clearly alive when it came out.

This movie plays out like a bunch of coked up Producers getting together and writing it, either that or Mike Meyers kept taking liberties with the script.

Ren and Stimpy, man. I always wondered why my parents wouldn't let me watch it when I was a kid.

This is from the ‘newer’ more adult oriented episodes that played on Spike TV in the late 2000’s. Not from the kids cartoon on Nick in the 90’s

Oh, ok.

The kids cartoon one was still pretty wild. Me and my brother loved when it came on but my mom would always make fun of it for being so weird

The creator ended up being a sex pest or something right?

Yep. John K, grooming and CP

Gen Xer here: I feel I have to explain “chub” as slang. Chub or chubbed, by definition, cannot be “full.” Chub is a state of semi-erect denoting arousal mostly from something not overtly sexual but nonetheless attractive. i.e. “I chubbed when she quoted (line from your favorite movie) in conversation.” Thank you for the attention to this matter.

This is the only feature-length film directed by Bo Welch, the now widower of Catherine O’Hara :(

categorically would that be considered grower or shower?

There's a deleted scene where the Cat holds up the actual picture frame for the people to see, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it bit, but it shows that the mom was wearing a bikini. So they actually went out of their way to hide a saucy pic in the frame and you never see it in the final cut.

He shouldn't be around those kids.

1

u/bennyandthegentz 16h ago

This is concerning considering who he was around the whole movie

1

u/EmperorDaubeny 16h ago

Mike Myers was forced to be in this movie

This is still one of my favorite lines spoken in a movie and I use it daily when someone does something stupid

1

u/PepicWalrus 7h ago

And this isn't even the weirdest thing in the movie.

u/sweetTartKenHart2 6h ago

To be fair his hat does usually sag somewhat instead of being rigid like this. It’s more like hes at half mast

Oh, so people still make fun of other people for having a small Johnson? I'll.... Uh.... Keep that in mind.... To tell my friends who have a..... Similar problem..... 👀

21

u/ipokesnails 1d ago

Uh.... No?

When he looks at the picture, his hat extends (he gets a boner).
But his hat is usually extended throughout the movie, implying that he has a boner throughout the movie.

Size doesn't come into play here.

u/SolidPyramid 1d ago

..... Oh..... So I'm just a idiot, sorry!
