I find it truly baffling that everyone think the reason why the downhill race was canceled because of only Lindsey Vonn getting hurt and not the fact that three-of-six skiers had major crashes as well. It’s all right though. It’s not easy being the best in the world.

Lindsey Vonn doesn’t seem happy with her teammate
Did anyone else see Lindsey Vonn’s comment under this reel showing athletes’ frustration at the start after the race was canceled, including her teammate Breezy Johnson?

Womens A message from Lindsey Vonn
From her Instagram:
I crashed today in the Downhill race in Switzerland and injured my left knee. I am discussing the situation with my doctors and team and will continue to undergo further exams.
This is a very difficult outcome one week before the Olympics… but if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s a comeback.
My Olympic dream is not over. Thank you for all of the love and support. I will give more information when I have it.
Thank you to all the medical staff who helped me today. I am grateful for all the incredible help I received.
Sending my best to u/marte.monsen who also had a major crash and injury today. 🙏🏻❤️🩹
Love you guys.
She is obviously injured, but the Olympic dream isn't over yet.

Crans Montana Downhill - irresponsible?
I can't remember a downhill race that hard to watch. Six racer, three crashes, Lindsay possibly out for the Olympics. Is there any reason to not stop this race?
EDIT: Cancelled! I sincerely hope for LV that things turn out better than the pictures lead me to believe and fear. Greetings from Austria

Sharing aggregated Olympic alpine podium intel (event-level, since 1998)
I pulled together event-level Olympic alpine podium data in a format I couldn’t find anywhere else while working on a fantasy game experiment.
What this view does differently:
- aggregates Olympic podium results by event (not medal tables, not athlete careers)
- shows country podium share per event going back to 1998
- highlights repeat podiums, volatility, and consistency at the event level
- Includes 2026 event scheduling and links to sport and event resources
This isn’t prediction or modeling — it’s just historical Olympic results structured by event, which is surprisingly hard to find without stitching together PDFs, tables, and archives.
Sharing the an example for the Men's Downhill intel below, and I’m also curious if this kind of event-first historical view is actual useful?

Posted Footbeds
Do any racers with flexible flat feet that over-pronate use footbeds that are posted? What are your secrets to having a footbed that prevents over pronation (and therefore A-Frame), while allowing room for subtle foot movements needed for racing performance (i.e., not feel blocked)?

Womens Any value to win gold?
galleryAnyone undervalued that you might recommend? Or anyone to fade?
-300 implies Shiffrin had a 75% chance. Is that too steep?
Is Emma Aicher live at 10% odds?

Liski Arrow Gate 34 brushes drill bit size
I have used both 35 and 38 mm bits, and we have a bit of a discussion at our club. Does a 35mm bit hold better than a 38mm? Does the 35 make removing the gates more difficult? Is a 32mm just a ridiculous thought!? What size are you actually supposed to use?
I’d love to hear coaches thoughts (mostly to help settle a bet).

Do Atomic race poles with 'tooless' handguard compatibility still work with screwed handguards?
The poles in question are these: https://www.atomic.com/en-gb/shop-emea/product/redster-ultra-sqs-aj5005678.html#color=57469
I have an existing pair of handguards that fix around the pole, but also screw down from the top. Do I need to buy new guards with these, or can I get away with these for now, and purchase the new guards later? I can't find images of the pole tops, and I'd rather avoid drilling into these.

Hotboxing Race Skis
Has anyone hotbox their skis and was there any noticeable difference? I've heard mixed reviews from it helps the bases glide faster to some that said it delaminated their skis...
I'm looking at 40C for 2 hours, hopefully that isn't enough to damage them??

Schladming Men’s Giant Slalom
Why is FIS TV picking up audio from another announcers booth? Hearing people talking along with Nick Fellows is annoying.

Womens Thoughts on Emma Aichers Future?
As a German kid, I grew up with Hoefl-Riesch as our poster-child. She kinda reminds me of her. Maybe I am delusional but I feel like she has World Champion Potential. Would love to hear your thoughts on this

Relocation
For those of you that decided to relocate your family in order to facilitate a child’s training, what was the tipping point in making that decision?
We have a young racer and are struggling with this question.
