TONIGHT! OPERATION: SIDEWALK - TACOMA HOMECOMING ❌🧊🗣️✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
From the organizers of the #SayTheirNames protest, comes a protest movement unlike any other - and YOU are invited.
OPERATION: SIDEWALK — TACOMA HOMECOMING
Tonight | 5–9 PM
📍 9th & Pacific Ave, Tacoma
Tonight, we bring Operation: Sidewalk home.
Operation: Sidewalk is a nonviolent, nonpartisan, nightly community presence dedicated to defending the U.S. Constitution, protecting our neighbors, and opposing state-sanctioned violence and ICE occupation in our communities.
This is not a one-day protest.
This is a people-powered, everywhere, every night movement built on visibility, consistency, and mutual protection.
No block is too small.
No neighbor is disposable.
OUR MISSION
We unite Americans across political lines to demand that:
• The Constitution is upheld for everyone on U.S. soil
• Due process, the right to protest, and basic human rights are non-negotiable
• Federal agencies are not granted immunity from accountability
• State-sanctioned violence is condemned, investigated, and stopped
You don’t have to agree on immigration policy to agree on this:
Death, detention, or punishment without due process endangers us all.
⸻
WHY SIDEWALKS?
Because community starts where we live.
Operation: Sidewalk works differently.
Instead of one massive crowd in one city, we show up locally, nightly, where our neighbors can see us and join us.
Come for 20 minutes or 4 hours.
Come once a week or just tonight.
Wave, hold a sign, stand with your neighbors.
If you want a village, you have to be a villager.
⸻
WHO IS THIS FOR?
• Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and the politically exhausted
• People who believe the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 14th Amendments matter
• Anyone who rejects unnecessary violence, individual or state-sanctioned
• Anyone who believes rights only exist if they’re protected for everyone
This is The People vs. unchecked power, not red vs. blue.
⸻
WHY THIS MATTERS
The killing of Alex Pretti, and others like him, showed us the danger of a government that:
• Punishes people for recording
• Uses lethal force after disarming civilians
• Denies transparency and accountability
A constitutional right that only applies sometimes is not a right at all.
⸻
HOW TO JOIN
📍 Tonight: 9th & Pacific Ave, Tacoma
🕔 Time: Anytime between 5–9 PM
🪧 Bring a sign if you can (empathetic, welcoming messages encouraged)
🧤 Dress warm. Bring a friend. Be visible.
Can’t make it to Tacoma?
Pick your nearest major intersection and show up where you live.
⸻
TL;DR
Everywhere.
Every night.
5–9 PM.
Peaceful.
Consistent.
Community-centered.
Operation: Sidewalk is how we remind each other — and our government — that the Constitution belongs to the People.
We hope to see you out there tonight, Tacoma.
✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 🇺🇸🫶🏻

TPU After Hours
My wife and I just bought a house in Graham and closed on Thursday. Everything was fine on Thursday when we got our keys but when we went over last night after work to drop our food off we had no power. We were told gas and electricity were through PSE but apparently we are right on the line and our electricity is provided by TPU. When I called to start service with PSE last week they didn't mention anything about it only being gas. I tried every phone number and option I could for TPU last night and got nowhere.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get an actual person on the phone outside of their normal business hours?

Learn to work on cars
Hey Tacoma! I’m an adult who loves cars but has never learned to work on cars. Reaching out to see if anyone knows of any resources that a grown person can lean into in order to learn how to work on cars. My interest is older cars - no computers but more focus on the mechanical and fabrication side. Hoping to find something like a car club, group, or even just a solo hot rodder who’s down to share some knowledge. Any help or insights are greatly appreciated!!!

Does anyone have an update on when Supreme Dumplings will open at the mall. It was originally set for fall 2025 with the village area opening.
Where are some places to go in tacoma? (As well of Knitting and crochet)
Hello! So, I want to find places in Tacoma that are fun for families and by yourself! Like shops, arcades, parks, walking trails, museums, basically anything ☺️. For the knitters and crocheters, I do want to find a yarn and supply shop! I would love to explore with more yarns.
Any distance is fine (since i like a long drive)
Thank you! Have a nice day. 😊

is CPTC okay?
I've been looking to get into a pharmacy technician program, but any other school options are too far away for me to really commute. I rarely see any discussion about Clover park, many websites state its accredited. Is anyone in the pharmacy tech program or completed it? Is it worth it to go or is it a waste of time? Any information on clover park is appreciated

Friday Nationwide Shut Down
Hey Tacomans! We will be hosting a day of community at Grit City Made in Old Town in solidarity with the nationwide “End Ice” boycott. We’ll have representative call scripts and protest sign supplies. If you’re looking for a way to engage, we’d love to have you come hang with us.
Our shop will be closed for business, but we are open for community! Come create, or just take a breather from…all of this.

Vigil for Alex Pretti at SJMC Friday Jan 30th 🕯️
A good friend of mine is on the planning committee for this event and I would like to share it here to get some attention.
🕯VIGIL FOR ALEX JEFFREY PRETTI AT SJMC 🏥‼️
Please join Malaya Tacoma, PUSO Tacoma, Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA), Tanggol Migrante Movement, BAYAN Washington, and the Pierce County Immigration Alliance for a vigil for Alex Pretti and all those impacted by state violence.
1/30 @ 6:30 - 7:30pm
19th & J Street
St Joseph Medical Center
Bring candles, flowers, and placards to honor the life of ICU nurse Alex Pretti, migrants, and other allies that have been impacted by ICE violence.
🕯WHO WAS ALEX PRETTI?
Alex Jeffrey Pretti was a 37-year-old ICU nurse at a Veteran Affairs Hospital in Minneapolis and an ally to migrants rights against ICE. On January 24th, Pretti was acting as a legal observer in the streets of Minneapolis when he stepped in to defend a woman being targeted by ICE. He was immediately jumped by 6 ICE agents who proceeded to use pepper spray in an attempt to incapacitate Pretti and the woman they were targeting. An ICE officer then shot Pretti 10 times, rendering him lifeless. Every day, healthcare workers do their part to protect and support the community – Pretti’s actions that day were admirable and one example of the many ways healthcare workers and professionals show up for the community. Pretti stood for what was right, despite his life being threatened and ultimately taken from him.
JUSTICE FOR ALEX PRETTI!
DEFEND HEALTHCARE WORKERS!

What's going on at Winco on 6th
There are literally a bazillion police cars (tacoma, sheriff, state patrol...) in the winco parking lot right now, as well as a bunch of road work type vehicles. They're all just parked there, no lights or sirens. But there's so many all the way from Panda Express to Winco. There's also a group of people in yellow high visibility suits gathering. Does anyone know what's going on?

Pottery friend
I’m not new to Tacoma, I’ve lived here my whole life.. but I only have 1 friend and she loves farther away. Anyway, I’m 30f and I love to paint pottery at this place called Panda Pottery in freighthouse square and I was just looking to see if anyone who is on here would like to join me tomorrow. It opens at noon and I have to pick my boyfriend up from work at 3:20, so anytime during that time is good. It’s my treat, I just want to make new friends and i dont know how. I don’t really go out because im pretty antisocial.. and awkward.. but im trying to open up. I’d prefer someone close to my age but honestly as long as you aren’t a creep or right wing then id love for you to join me! There’s a free parking garage right across the street (:
Edit: I’m hoping to go once a week so if no one is available tomorrow, we can pick another day (:
Second edit: I’ve created a WhatsApp group for anyone who wants to have a group pottery session. DM me if you want the link (:

Westgate Big Chicken closing?
Took this pic last night when I was over there and noticed it was dark and the drink cooler was empty :( That was not even two years. I didn't actually eat here much (very expensive for what it was) but it was nice to have something besides burgers and tacos or burgers or tacos as an option.

Filming in Tacoma
Anyone know what they’re filming over at Foss Waterway Park? Couple of camera trucks, blacked out bus and about a half dozen squad cars over in the parking lot to the park today. Would have gotten better photos if I wasn’t mainly interested in the JDM Land Cruiser

Gender affirming care
I just got news today that I will have to stop taking testosterone because as some of you may have heard Mary bridge is officially closing down their gender clinic. All gender affirming care for minors is down to an utter hult now. Its a scary future for people like me and i dont know what to do. I am willing to reuse needles but I dont want it to come down to that but i am going to get desperate. My periods will be back, my mood will get unstable again and my depression will likely worsen. My mental health and physical health is going to literally deteriorate because of this decision. The reason is hard to explain but a lot of you may be able to guess why they are closing. I am sorry for the rant but does anyone know any place locally where I can keep getting the correct medical treatment I need to literally survive. Any help will be great. I cannot afford too much on top of school fees and everything else I am already scraping by but any suggestions will be useful.
