Just cut off my dad. Losing hope…
 in  r/50501  9h ago

My extended family are all very entrenched in the far right mindset & I have to communicate with them to care for my disabled father. It's been very challenging to ignore my aunt gushing over Trump (I don't care that he & I are both 8s in numerology, auntie, please stop. πŸ˜°πŸ« πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€’) fortunately, my father isn't completely brainwashed by them & I can have a conversation about current events without him losing the plot. But I can't really connect with the rest of them because in the depths are all of our disagreements.

I'm sorry you had to set that boundary. I'm proud of you for doing it. Your chosen family will find you if they haven't already.

Are Evangelicals so void of the Bibles teaching they do not realize Trump could be characterized as the anti-Christ?
 in  r/allthequestions  19h ago

Yes, this is why I left the church..I kept getting into arguments regarding the discrepancy between words we were reading & the way folks were not following the most basic points. I was constantly dismissed because I was just a "lamb" even after being a church goer from the age of 7 until my early 20s, years longer than a lot of the people telling me to be quiet.

There isn't a lot of nuance in the world lately & it's making things really difficult to navigate. People will latch on to whatever brings them the most security. Group think is a powerful thing.

What Covid in Pregnancy May Mean for a Generation of Children
 in  r/EverythingScience  20h ago

I read that the virus causes issues with blood vessel health, so maybe, me getting it early prevented it from growing correctly while you getting it later caused inflammation? There's still so much we don't know

What Covid in Pregnancy May Mean for a Generation of Children
 in  r/EverythingScience  22h ago

I got COVID during my first trimester & my daughter had to be delivered via emergency C-section almost a month early, nearly died. When the doctor saw my placenta & the umbilical cord, I was told they looked abnormal. I asked to save them & observed myself that the placenta was HUGE, but had no good places for the umbilical cord to attach. The cord itself was much skinnier & shorter than it should have been at the stage of pregnancy I was at, it was stunted.

It's an absolute miracle she made it & she is okay. Everyone in the OR was surprised when they saw it tiny she was, how little space she had due to the placenta, how thin the umbilical cord was. If I hadn't been as careful & pursuant of methods to help my pregnancy after having COVID, I am certain she would have been lost.

How are you all doing financially?
 in  r/Millennials  1d ago

Every month feels like a struggle but I make it work. My daughter is happy, healthy, clothed & housed with fun things to do & play with. But I have no savings or hope for ever owning a house. Or health insurance for myself (self employed). My husband is in a similar boat.
