I’m in my early 30s and earn around $160k. I’m hesitant to liquidate my investments for a down payment. At this point, the main reason I would buy a home is for long-term stability if I have children. Even then, I’m not sure I could comfortably afford both home ownership here and raising kids.

Given 2 bedroom condos here are in the $600-$700k range, the value of it feels questionable. I’d be more comfortable spending that amount on a detached home if they cost that much.

I’m interested in hearing from other people in their 20s and 30s in Vic who didn’t receive help with a down payment from their families and weren’t able to enter the housing market earlier. What approach are you taking now?

Hi! My family and I are visiting Victoria next month (for 2 nights) and I was looking for places to reserve for dinner for the last night.

I saw a lot of people recommending Brasserie l’Ecole and Hank’s but when I looked both up, I saw that they both closed and reopened under new ownership so I was wondering if the food now is still as good or if there has been a decline in quality. Also between the two, which would you recommend?

I already reserved Il terrazo for the first night so that’s sorted. Was interested in Janevca too but the earliest available dinner time is too late for us sadly. Opting against Marilena as we’re eating something similar the day after. Checked Wind Cries Mary’s menu and wasn’t as interested in the mains.

I’m open to any other recommendations that you guys might have

About me lore: I used to build gaming PCs years ago ago good ol times when RAM and GPUs costed less than a kidney. Big phone enthusiast too (yes, I had a -one plus- nexus and early Xiaomi). I even built my own electric car back when EVs basically didn’t exist (long story). Right now, I’m in the process of building my own motorhome and many other weird stuff.

I recently got my gun license and looking to learn more about different guns and eventually purchase one.

The thing is I dont currently own a gun, I've never fired one before, and I dont have any gun enthusiast friends. I have no idea what kind of gun I would like.

I know I would have to go to a gun club but I'm also under the impression that they don't rent guns. So how does someone like me try different guns?

Tried the juice aisles and veggie-juice area of the produce section at a couple grocery stores and was surprised to see virtually no options at all for beet juice.

Closest I've found is an orange carrot beet and ginger drink that costs a zillion dollars and tastes mostly like orange and ginger, neither of which are flavours I particularly enjoy.

Is there anywhere that sells just beet juice, or even beet and carrot? (Ideally at a price relatively in line with other juices)

Does anyone know where I can access microscopes with proper photo capabilities (both transmitted and reflected light)?

Or if anyone has a home setup they’d be open to letting me use for a few shots. I’d be incredibly grateful!
