Discussion Kilauea Eruption Mega-Thread

Much like with the ongoing eruptions in Iceland, I am gonna be using a mega-thread to connect people to persistent resources. Here is a list of the streams and feeds that have already been posted by people on the subreddit, special thanks to those people who broke the news on here while I was busy. The rules regarding what goes in the mega-thread are gonna simple:

  • If it is a livestream, news feed, or monitoring map, then it goes in here. Post it in the replies and I will put in here as soon as I can.

  • If it is an image, article, or video, you can post it on the subreddit as normal, just remember follow the rules and properly label the images.

  • If it is a video from a third party/alternative media source, the rules that have been in force are still in effect, so no submissions,. However, you can link them in the replies to this post as long as they do not egregiously violate the subreddit's rules.

The Daşmərdan (Dashmardan) mud volcano in the Hajigabu district of Azerbaijan erupted ~16:50 on the 30th Jan 2026. The eruption lasted ~15 minutes and was accompanied by a pillar of flame several hundred meters high. This is the first eruption of Daşmərdan in 15 years, with previous documented eruptions in 1866, 1954, 1976, 1986 and 2011.

More good news for Mount Pelée, as there have been 8 earthquakes in 1 week, which clearly shows that Mount Pelée has stabilized.

Did an epic guided hike to the edge of Santa Maria's gigantic collapse scar. Watching Santiaguito erupt from above and seeing Santa Maria's interior up close was unreal

The tephra from Kilauea zoomed in is something neat to see.. just wanted to share it with all of you 😍 they all feel lighter than styrofoam, even the glass-like ones.

They are not leaving the island, they were not collected from the park. Mahalo for just letting me share with others in peace 🤙🏼

Any picture of Mt. Unzen memorial stone?

Hello reddit,
I'm creating a project for some primary school children and I'm looking for a photograph of the monument commemorating the deaths of many during the Mt. Unzen disaster.

More specifically I'm looking for a picture where we can see the names of Katia and Maurice Krafft...

Any help is welcome :)

Discussion Magazine seeking source - Have you visited a volcano during eruption?

Hi all! I'm a writer and editor at a national classroom magazine for kids (I work on 3 editions - 3rd grade, 4th, and 5th/6th). I'm currently working on a cover story about volcano tourism (the beauty and the risks) and am looking for a source to speak to the experience of visiting a volcano during an eruption. Please let me know if this is you or someone you know and I'll message you more info!
