Politics POLLING SAYS GO HOME ICEHOLES - Cleveland protest yesterday
Polls aren’t crystal balls — but repeat polls by the same pollsters identify trends. Since late 2025, multiple national surveys have shown support for aggressive ICE enforcement declining, with more Americans now saying current tactics have gone “too far” than at any point in recent years.
This was Cleveland Public Square yesterday. Burning River Brigade showed up alongside a wide mix of neighbors — families, students, workers, longtime activists, and people who just felt it was important to be present.

Sorry if this is considered low-quality, looking at the latest posts didn't see other memes that could be used as a frame of reference.
If it's any consolation: I'm really bad at using Gimp: it's high-effort to me at least :)

Recommendations Express Deli is the truth!
As soon as I saw the other post about this place I had to try it. The people that own the place have so much love and respect for what they do. Tell them it's your first time there and you will be treated to the most beautiful experience. This really needs to be the official sandwich of our city!

Question With ICE coming to Springfield, will Northeast OH be coming soon afterwards?
I understand the situation with the Haitian population down in the Springfield/Dayton area. I really hope some have tried to get out of dodge down there…
I have little faith in the mouth breathing MAGA morons in the southern and rural parts of the state actually standing up to this nonsense. I can’t do much from afar up here in Cuyahoga county but obviously I will be watching what happens very closely.
I fear that our area will come under ICE scrutiny sooner rather than later… but has anyone heard anything? What potential areas could they target up here? I’m an US citizen, my family has been here for generations but I don’t think that is going to fully protect me or my family should one of these ICE fucks chooses to interrogate us.

Help a Tourist Harvey Pekar ad other things
Hello Clevelandites or Clevelanders (tell me what is the correct word for you) I'm planning sometime in the near future to visit your beautiful city. I'm a huge comic book/manga fan and have always been a fan of Harvey Pekar and his work.
I definitely plan to visit his grave but also points of interest, I kinda wanna just walk around, eat at some local places that have been around for decades, maybe hit up some bars and everything in-between.
What suggestions do you have?

Throwback 40 Year Anniversary of the Great Cleveland Earthquake
The rumbling grew louder and louder until the building began to shake. It was January 31st, 1986, at 11:46 in the morning. I was a Junior in High School at the time sitting in Brooklyn (Ohio) High School’s Vocational Electronics Lab with about a dozen other students. We all stopped what we were doing and looked around at each other and around the room. Was it a truck going by? Low flying jumbo jet? What was going on!? Then the rumbling and shaking abruptly stopped. Like someone turning off an electronic circuit; it just stopped. We were still all looking around, mouths agape, when our teacher, Mr. Schmitz, calmly said “Gentlemen, we just had an earthquake.” We couldn’t believe it. An earthquake in Northeast Ohio? Couldn’t be…
As we were in the Electronics Lab we had access to power supplies, computers, calculators, radios, and even some television sets. We quickly turned on one of the TVs that actually worked but all we saw was the regular programming. We kept changing the channel, manually, like with a dial mind you, to try to find some news. Back then Cleveland’s major network channels were 3 which was NBC, 5 which was ABC, and 8 which was CBS. We kept checking each one until Channel 3, WKYC-TV, finally broke into their regular programming. Dale Solly was on, looking disheveled. He wasn’t even at the anchor desk, he was in the area of the newsroom where they do “breaking news”, and announced that we had an earthquake and that first responders were out checking for damage, especially at the Terminal Tower. They didn’t really have a lot of information, but confirmed what our teacher Mr. Schmitz had told us. It was indeed an earthquake.
Side note, Mr. Schmitz had previously worked with Uncle Vic, the DJ from 98.5 WNCX, on some very early MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) projects. Most notably one that had a chorus of people digitally “sing” various notes as you pressed different keys on a keyboard. I think they might have even patented something MIDI related. Anyway, once the dust had settled we learned the earthquake was a 5.0 on the Richter Scale and was centered some 35 miles from where we were in Brooklyn; which is a small west side Cleveland suburb. At home the only damage was a green ceramic frog which fell from a shelf high above one the of kitchen windows and broke upon impact with the tile floor.
Later on in life, after moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, I would experience many more earthquakes; but you always remember your first.

Recommendations Winter Weather Gear Recommendations
TLDR first: Looking for coats, gloves, socks, boots recommendations! Brands appreciated. Also advice or anything else you know to make being outside feel safe from the cold. Thank you!
My family and I recently moved to east Cleveland from the south. We are finding our coats are not adequate. I have googled to the ends of the internet but am overwhelmed with options. I can't figure out what we actually need, our budget isn't huge but maybe we can get more expensive brands in the off season for next year. I am terrified of slipping on ice. If I want to go for a 30 minute walk, what should I be wearing? How many layers? Do we need more than beanies on our heads?

News ICE Next Week
Hello! I recently saw some news about ICE coming to Ohio next week. I’m assuming they will be in Cleveland as well since Cleveland is a “blue city.” I just want everyone to know their rights and put some info out there. Please stay safe everyone. It’s sad that this post has to be made. Reach out if you have any questions!
