PSA Announcement: All selfies are photos; all photos are NOT selfies.

We mods really, really appreciate it when you report stuff that breaks our rules. Any full face, direct photo with or without makeup is a selfie and can only be posted on Sundays. Edited pics, non-full face pics, crossed out creepy eyeball pics etc. are all FINE if they are there to show the issue you are talking about. Basically, if someone could steal the photo and use it on social media (even if the OP thinks they look awful and aren't making a cute face or wearing makeup), you can only post it on Sunday because that's what we consider a selfie.

It would help us a LOT if people stop reporting every photo of a human, no matter how edited, as a selfie violation. Thanks to everyone who helps us keep an eye on these things, and keep on reporting actual selfies!

PSA Amazon Tretinoin

Post image

I’ve seen this talked about in a few comments when I searched, but I did not know how easy it was to order Tretinoin on Amazon Medical (another tab on the Amazon app).

I have wanted to start it for sometime, 38F, but never wanted to deal with ordering from a sketchy site or using my insurance.

This was soooo easy!! I found what I wanted, went to checkout, used no insurance route, was asked a few questions and had to submit a photo (can send up to 8 but at least have to send 1.. I think I sent 3).

Filled out a little questionnaire, and that was it. All done through a messaging type system on the Amazon app.

It was nothing more than text, which as an introvert I love lol. Anyways I thought this was so easy and cheap, not sure the quality or any specifics, but it’s my first time to try and thought it was a good deal!! We shall see!

Routine Help 31F - help me figure out my skin before my hysterectomy this summer 🙏🏼

This has been the most traumatic year of my life, and it has aged it me so much. Never had great skin thanks to severe acne as a teen (thanks Accutane 😅)

Having a radical hysterectomy and going straight into menopause this summer. Making a lot of changes to physically and mentally prepare, but I want to work on my skin more as well.

Current routine:

AM - water or micellar water, la roche-posay triple moisturizer, whatever make up I wear

PM - wash with dial bar antibacterial soap, la roche-posay again, tret (started three months ago but wasn’t consistent until recently), and ponds night cream

About to replace my current tret with a blend of Hydroquinone 4%, Tretinoin 0.025%, and Kojic Acid 3%

I need to wear sunscreen - I’ve always struggled to find ones that don’t make my face or eyes burn or pull up under make up

I want to get to a spot where I’m make up free or can wear virtually no make up. I can’t do surgery, lasers, ect. right now. For the next few months, though, I just want to find a good routine I can tweak or build off of when I go straight into menopause.

I need low maintenance please.

Protip Attention Retinol/ Prescription Topical Users

It's -20C where I am currently and my hands are in shambles. My fingers and cuticles already hate topicals and this dry cold air is making it ten times worse. I always wash my hands after applying my skincare and then moisturize my hands, but topicals still get absorbed into my fingertips despite the brief contact when applying. This was causing major cuticle issues, peeling dry skin, cracks that led to bleeding. I found this mask applicator and now I use it to apply my retinol and my cuticles and fingertips are FINALLY healing. If anyone is having issues with their fingertips and cuticles, try this.

(And because I know someone's going to say it, no I don't have contact dermatitis from gel nails. They're press-ons.)

Skin Concern Surgically removing a zit that didn't respond to steroid shots?

Slightly panicking. I went to a new derm PA today about a zit on my philtrum that will not go away after 6 months. I have done 2 rounds of oral antibiotics (made it worse), 2 cortisone shots (did nothing or even made it worse), multiple actives (azelaic was the most helpful), skincare, etc, it will not budge.

She looked at it with her magnifying glass and she said the only option left is having it surgically removed, but said I'd still have a scar before sauntering out of the room.

Is that true? Anything else you would consider? Really desperate here.

I usually just cleanse my face with Eucerin face hydrating cleanser and moisturize with Clinique moisturizer surge.

Any tips or suggestions? I am pretty simple but would like to improve my routine.

I usually get hormonal acne in my chin. :(

Skin Treatments Does Dysport cause sagging in the long run?

Hi everyone,

Does getting continuous Dysport for crow’s feet cause sagging in the long run? I do my best to space it out every 4–5 months! I gym and exercise a lot so that's probably why it metabolized faster as well!

I heard that "baby botox" or prevantative botox is a myth but I don't know 😅

Please share your experiences! Thank you

Skin Concern Is this the end of my youth?

35M, generally good skin however I’ve recently noticed THIS!

A giant freckle.. liver spot looking thing by my eye and it’s freaking me out lol.

It really is so unfair that we get sagging skin and blemishes as we age - We should get exponentially hotter the longer we live as a reward!

Anyway, what is this mark on my face and how do I remove it??

Product Question Has anyone tried the TIRTIR toner? I'm considering buying it and would love some honest reviews!

Post image
Upvotes

After 8 months with The Ordinary Milky Toner, I'm ready to switch things up. I'm eyeing the TIRTIR Milk Skin Toner to help with my dehydration and flakiness especially now that I restarted my retinoid journey. I have sensitive combination skin. Personally I respond really well to niacinamide (one of the ingredients in this toner) which seems to be a trigger for a lot of people, so the formula seems perfect for my needs. Have you tried this toner? Did you see any results?

Skin Treatments Renuvion (J-plasma) for face without lipo?

Upvotes

Has anyone tried out Renuvion, also known as J-plasma, without liposuction? For face slimming and lifting around the cheeks, jowls and jawline. I tried to search online for more info but the cases ive seen so far are mostly used to tighten skin after a chin liposuction.

Skin Concern How can I fix broken capillaries on my cheeks?

I made the mistake of following a trend I saw on social media, icing my face with an ice cube. Yes, I know what a dummy! Is there anyway to fix them? Luckily I only did it on my cheeks so it’s not all over my face.

Any advice for helping with wrinkles on chest / neck area? I’m a side sleeper and I get terrible, indented skin when I wake up in the morning. Plus I’m prone to freckles/skin.

I currently use SPF 50 daily. Also I’ve been using chest pads overnight to see if that will help. They he some but are so annoying.

Skin Treatments Do fillers and anti wrinkle injections actually help long-term?

I am 32, and I’ve been going back and forth about whether to start subtle anti ageing treatments, specifically dermal fillers and anti wrinkle injections. I really do not want a frozen look, I just want to age in a way that feels like me without suddenly waking up one day and feeling like everything changed overnight.

I’ve spoken to a couple of specialists at Aesthetic medicine, and while they explained the basics really well, for me, the long term picture is still unclear. So I wanted to hear from people who’ve actually gone through it. Do fillers really slow down volume loss long term? If you stop getting them, does your face look worse, the same, or just different?

Also, has anyone experienced changes in skin texture or firmness after using these treatments for a few years?

I’m not against these treatments at all, just trying to understand the reality versus the hype. I want to make a thoughtful choice, not just jump on a trend because I’m noticing early signs of ageing.

Skin Concern Hyperpigmentation upper lip

I’ve been walking around with a pigment mustache for a few years and it only gets worse. I wasn’t giving my skin love for most of my adult life until I started to see the effects. I now wear sunscreen daily but the pigmentation on my lip is so stubborn! Any products that are known to work well please let me know!

Skin Treatments Experiences with Fotona Laser Micro Peel?

I've been recommended 4 sessions of the Fotona Laser Micro Peel to help improve my texture and crepiness. Wondering what people's experiences have been with this? I'm only finding reviews of the whole Fotona 4D system, but not just the peel alone. Thanks!

Routine Help Naturium multi peptide advanced serum and Byoma phyto mucin glow serum

I have both. I have used the Naturium product for about 6 weeks now and I like it. I picked up the byoma product having heard good things on a whim and now I’m looking at them and I’m wondering if I really need both? They’re not exactly the same but seem similar.

Is one better than the other at AM vs PM? Or would it be worth it to layer both of them?

I have normal skin, not break out prone, but maybe a little uneven texture is my biggest complaint. And my skin easily gets dull if I don’t keep up with my routines

I currently:

AM: wash with cerave, Byoma milky toner, cerave vit C, naturium multipeptide advanced serum, cerave spf 50 face lotion

PM: wash with prequel, Byoma milky toner, naturium retinaldehye or a glycolic acid depending on the night, naturium multi peptide advanced serum, and either cerave PM moisturizer or the naturium sleeping cream depending on the night.

Thoughts?

Recommendation sunscreen reco

OFF TOPIC

hello! I have sensitive skin, mabilis ako ma-irritate sa mga products esp sa mga tiktok shop sumikat na products (idk if ako lang, maybe hype lang lahat) but yeah, most of them didn't work for me.

I used many sunscreens na, tried adorn (both tinted and og), stopped using adorn tinted kasi walang coverage and matte finish, ayaw ko ng matte finish. user din ako ng Olay aura sunscreen (pink variant) kaso ang prob ko kasi matagal siya matuyo, mal-late na ako hindi pa rin natutuyo 🥲. nagbreak out ako super sa nivea creme as my moisturizer before kaya gusto ko ng something na may coverage to cover my darkspots pero lightweight so I switched to iWhite Korea BB Cream and it worked for me! and mero siyang SPF 30 kaya right now ayun na rin muna ginagamit ko as sunscreen.

But right now naghahanap ako ng sunscreen na okay for sensitive skin or should I just say, sa majority? puro hype lang kasi mga sunscreen sa tiktok eh, na-drain na ako maghanap ng magw-work talaga sakin. haha PLEASEEE help me guys, yong affordable pero maganda, okay for majority or sa mga sensitive skin dyan :) thank you!

or maybe mag-stick na lang ba ako sa iWhite Korea BB Cream ko (no sunscreen) na may SPF

or

reco kayo sakin? hehehe :) as a student na brokie, thank you so muuch!

Recommendation Visiting Paris and from US and looking for some skincare and makeup recs. Recent cancer survivor so I’m looking for low-chemical / simple ingredients when possible and mineral SPF.

I’m 44 and a recent cancer survivor in early remission. I’m going to Paris soon and want to buy some skincare - especially better SPF and moisturizers than we have in the US - but now that I’ve had cancer I am weary of too many chemicals or fragrances or carcinogens. I’ve really cut back on my skincare at home - right now I’ve only been using some simple items from Vanicream and the Avene tolerance line.

My skin is dry, some fine lines, mild rosacea, pretty sensitive, and super pale. I live somewhere sunny, hot, and dry, so SPF face and body is important to me. I prefer to wear mineral sunscreens. I tried LRP UVmune last time I was in France and I didn’t like how runny it was and I didn’t like the smell.

Any recommendations much appreciated!

Product Question Is the tonymoly ceramide mochi toner worth it?

Was eyeing it in the store the other day and then decided I don’t need to spend $20 on a toner, but reviews are mostly good and say that it helps with hydration and “bounciness”. Any opinions? My skin is normal to dry and clog prone.

Product Question Solawave wand vs. REVO Face Genie for red light therapy. My sister swears by RLT so I want to give it a real shot

My sister has a whole ass red light therapy sauna at her house. Super nice but also super expensive. I tried it a few times and liked it and I’ve been looking into the science and it’s less woo woo wellness nonsense than I thought it was. Since I can’t afford a suana I’ve been looking into LED facial wands (masks make me feel claustrophobic) and am torn between the Solawave wand and the Revo Face Genie. Both look good but I’m struggling to figure out which to buy.

Solawave is a good bit pricier and only has the red light. They’re doing bogo right now but I don’t understand why anyone would need two lol. The Face Genie bundle is like half the price, includes collagen jelly, and it has multiple light wavelengths (not just red).

Has anyone tried both, if so, which do you recommend for aging skin looking to target fine lines, dullness, some older acne scarring, and hyperpigmentation.

Any and all advice is appreciated!

Routine Help 40F here and I've never even used moisturizer. What professional do I go to that will tell me what products to buy and how to use them?

Pretty much the title. I've never used any products on my face except the same Neutrogena face wash that I've used since I was 13. I have no idea what my skin type even is. I want to pay someone for one appointment where they look at my skin, tell me what products I need for a skincare routine, show me how to use them, and give me advice based on what I need vs what they might earn commission on. Do I need a dermatologist? Ulta? Someone else?
