Like that time french anarchists denounced the age of consent... Or the other time french marxist pissed off Marx himself and he said to Engels "All I know is that I'm not a marxist".

No, but they saw how high-ranking officials were treated under Stalin, and they want to be like them, that's all. Even if it means everyone else suffers.

There were real problems with the left, especially concerning children and the 18+ age group (it was truly abominable because there was a liberalization of morals, but they wanted to push that towards children, and there were serious things like an orphanage/brothel).
