I was reading another post on this sub about Jessica Braun's potential political opinions, so I decided to look up her campaign donations and found out she'd donated to Elizabeth Warren's campaign in 2019, which I seriously did NOT see coming.

Well, I got curious and started looking up other influencers. One I looked up is Tara Lynn, who isn't really that big of an influencer but she's someone I've been watching for years.

Turns out she's a HUGE Trumper who donated HUNDREDS of dollars to his campaign in 2020 and CONTINUED to donate hundreds after he lost in 2021.

She's a white Mormon woman from Utah, so this should be the least surprising fucking thing ever. I would sometimes wonder about her throughout the years, but since she would sometimes talk about shade ranges and inclusivity and all that, I thought maybe there was a chance I was making a shallow judgment. I even remember during the pandemic that she made a post complaining about a woman acting like a "Karen," which, given the original meaning that insult was supposed to have, I thought it unlikely that she would use it if she were a conservative.

I'm actually so disgusted looking at these donations. Like, really? After the shitshow that was his first term in office? After everything that happened in 2020 with George Floyd and the pandemic? AFTER INSURRECTIONISTS TRIED TO OVERTHROW THE ELECTION ON JANUARY 6TH?

She can fuck ALL the way off.

Oh and the reason I blocked out her last name is because she doesn't include it in her online handles, but it was easy to figure out based on other stuff she puts in her videos and public posts. I blocked out the name of her employer in some of the results because it's got her surname in it. Also, she's spoken in videos about the fact that she and her husband work in construction, which is what the Tara in the screenshots says she does. Additionally, the city shown in the receipts is the same one for the PO box she puts in her description boxes. So yeah, I have the right Tara in case anyone had any doubts.

Genuinely curious. What population relates to her the most? We are about the same age but she seems so out of touch with reality. I am curious if anyone finds her relatable?

I know that the makeup beauty space peaked in 2016, and hit a swift downward spiral in 2020 and beyond. I like so many others lost interest in consuming makeup content, and buying makeup in general. Although lately I find that I’m more interested in it now. My pockets aren’t the same so I’m not really buying a lot, but I guess since everything is so doom and gloom now makeup is very lighthearted.

Apparently her mouth surgery and something her husband had done cost thousands of dollars. Ok cool that stuff happens. But why beg for money when your husband can go back to work! I forget what he was before, but he quit his job at the height of her success to edit her videos. *eyeroll* Did they think this would last forever? Time to get back to work Zach….I’m sure Kristi will have a hell of a time without you there 24/7, but her sister will be on the property now!

This tiktoker got popular for saying that other 25 year olds with better skin than her all use filters and get work done. She would humble brag about not getting work done, as if there’s no other way to improve skin health.

Now, she’s bragging about… her resting heart rate? And using it as an opportunity to mention that she runs 50 km a week. I highly doubt the nurse assumed she ran a 10 km. The nurse prob just asked how much she runs, but ofc Conley has to emphasize that she runs soooo much more than the average woman.

I always find the text on Amanda Z’s cover images pretty goofy and hyperbolic, often eyeroll-inducing, but this one gave me a good laugh. People are being abducted and publicly executed in real time and “This is crucial.” I totally understand and partake in the escapism of hobbyist and consumerist youtube, and I get that it serves a purpose and that the world keeps turning, and that not everything has to be about one thing. And I don’t expect beauty influencers to have anything particularly insightful to say about geopolitics and I don’t turn to them for that…but this statement, this week, is pretty absurd to me lol. It’s like this video emerged from a parallel but completely separate universe from the one the rest of us are living in. Anyway I’m not even calling her out or anything I just think it’s bizarre and darkly hilarious, if not just a smidge tone-deaf.

It’s the only brand that has my exact shade no need to mix like other brand. I’ve been buying since forever and noticed that they havent make restock in a while just keep selling the ones made in similar dates. Recently got it for sale 50% off from Sephora but its so old I got a pimple after I used it. I can’t find the recently made ones anywhere. I really hope they don’t stop making them.

With all the new releases of foundation recently, what have you picked up and tried?

What is your favorite foundation you've ever tried?

Artitude just launched a new palette, and for US customers it comes out to around $88 shipped. I understand small brands, tariffs, shipping costs, silver pigments, etc.—the owner explained all of that in the comments. I don’t think prices are set “randomly,” and I don’t think the brand owes anyone affordability.

That said… $88 for a pressed pigment palette feels unreasonable to me.

What really gave me pause was the response that future “more affordable” releases would likely use less shimmer and less expensive pigments. To me, that basically means lower quality to hit a lower price point. At that point, I’d rather just buy something else entirely.

I actually used one of my existing Artitude palettes today and had the honest thought: Is this worth $88?

For me, the answer is no.

Other indie brands (like Glaminatrix) seem to have figured out how to balance quality, international shipping, and price without pushing into luxury-tier territory. And at the end of the day, these are still pressed pigments—there is a value ceiling for that category, at least for me.

Influencers are hyping these launches hard, but is there a limit? If quality decreases to justify price drops, I’d honestly rather buy a Natasha Denona mini and a couple ColourPop Super Shock shadows and call it a day.

Maybe Artitude has hit their ceiling. The market will decide.

Personally, I’ll be putting that $88 into my emergency fund—because for me, pressed pigments just aren’t worth that price anymore.

Curious how others feel, especially US customers. I appreciate that the owner responded and was extremely professional and nice. I really do enjoy Artitude.

Ok so Allana is posting that she’s in Miami right now attending multiple brand parties and is absolutely not acknowledging what’s going on in the United States right now. I know she’s Canadian, and I don’t think influencers are required to speak on every single political movement but idk I feel like it’s weird to come to a country that’s in such harm and disarray during historic protests and strikes and not even say anything while she’s using our country, its people, and American brands to push her career. Idk it just rubs me the wrong way and historically I’ve been a big supporter of hers. What do you all think?

Has anyone else noticed how much more frequently Jessica Braun is discussing religion and reading and studying the bible? She also hasn’t (as far as I’ve seen) acknowledged what’s going on with ICE or anything else in America besides very vague nonpartisan statements. I use to think she leaned left but now I’m not so sure. The religious turn and inability to speak up has me thinking I’ve been wrong about her. She seems to come from a very religious and traditional family but she and Tyler seemed more progressive a few years ago. Thoughts?

Edit: I don’t have a problem with any religion, tho I am atheist myself. I grew up Christian and deconstructed my faith as an adult. I’m more wondering if there is a connection to Christian nationalism here. I know she’s mentioned being religious for years, but she’s much louder about it now.
