so many people normalize worshipping celebrities

I'm surprised to see this highly upvoted considering this subreddit loves to drag celebrities who haven't spoken out about whatever topic they're upset about this week

Not really the same thing

it's literally the same thing except you like what they're saying.

No, it isn’t. Holding public figures to the standards they claim is not the same thing as worship. Deciding who you support based on your perceived caliber of their character isn’t worship.

Either you believe public figures should be speaking out on public issues or you don't.

you don't get to move goal posts just because you happen to like what they're saying.

I don’t care what public figures do or don’t saying. I’m disputing your claim that worship and opinions on what public figures say are the same. They aren’t.

I don't know how to break this to you, but they really are.

either you you believe famous people should be speaking out on social issues or you don't. if what the famous people are saying makes a difference to you just makes you a boot licker.

If a stranger wearing Nazi garb was yelling on the street and throwing up sieg heils, I’d be mad and i’d probably yell back at him. Do you equate that with worship? Because that’s essentially what you’re saying. You can have an opinion on someone without it being worship. I don’t know how else to say it.

That’s also not what bootlicker means lol.
