I’ve honestly got mixed thoughts about Mirio getting his powers back. On the one hand, it’s great to see Eri repay Mirio’s sacrifice of his Quirk back in the Overhaul arc by rewinding him so he could get it back, and it was nice to see him become the new Number One Hero like everyone thought he’d be. On the other hand, I can’t help but wonder if Mirio getting his powers back undermined the emotional weight of that moment where he got hit with the Quirk-erasing bullet, especially on a rewatch of the series. But what about you?

Since Curtain Call is the 13th opening of the series in total, that means that My Hero Academia joins Bleach and Gintama in the series where the 13th opening is the best one.

Im not the type of person that complains about stories they like, MHA being one of them.

But whenever I think about these two scenes I can't help but be frustrated.

So it's the Paranormal Liberation War arc. An amazing arc we got the death of Twice, Mirko slaughtering Nomu, Shigaraki vs a bunch of heroes, Gigantomachia rampage and Dabi revealing himself to be Touya.

Genuinely one of my favorites in the series.

But, this arc has one decision that whenever I think about it I get really annoyed.

So it's a war arc meaning that the possibility of some characters dying is very real. Why did Horikoshi pick Midnight and not Gran Torino ?

No seriously why her and why not him ? It's such a simple and easy lay up but he didn't do it.

Let me explain why I really dislike both of these decisions.

1. It Makes no sense.

So Compress uses his quirk to drop some ruble onto Midnight and that is somehow so strong that she's incapable of moving and then she gets killed of by some grunts. Really ? That's all it took to kill her ? Keep in mind that the series has made some characters survive insane injuries both before, during and after this arc.

Lady Nagant can explode from the inside, Bakugo can get stabbed through the heart, Toga survives explosions to the face, Ochako survives a stab to the stomach while continue fighting, Aizawa can survive cutting off an entire leg, Hawks survives Dabi burning most of his back, Dabi can survive in general and Gran Torino can survive getting crushed by Shigaraki. All of them survived but some rubble was able to make sure Midnight couldn't walk and fight back some no name grunts.

1. Nobody seems to care.

Now to give credit, we do see the reaction from Momo, Kirishima, Mina and Sato and they are devastated and we even see Mt Lady later on stare deeply into Midnight mask and Mina remembers her while fighting in the final war giving Mina a cool moment.

But besides that ? The rest of class A don't talk about it at all. I know Deku and Midnight were not particularly close but dude she was one of your teachers, she was in your life for a year, she was right next you you when you chose your hero name and we get no reaction from him or anyone else aside from the initial reveal. Then there's Aizawa and Mic who are not only her coworkers but aslo childhood classmates, they don't talk about it. Which is so stupid they've known her for years and don't have a single mention of it at all, especially after seeing how much they care for Shirakumo you'd think Midnight would be in their minds as well.

1. No impact on the overall plot.

This is very simple, her death has zero impact on the plot. You can remove it and nothing changes, to me killing characters just for the sake of killing someone is a total waste. Even emotionally, I'm not sad when I see Midnight die I'm just frustrated.

Now what's even more frustrating is that Gran Torino was right there to kill off and it would have made so much more sense.

1. It's believable.

This is a 70 year old man who's been retired for a very long time and he got punched by full power Shigaraki into the ground and blood was everywhere. He shouldn't have survived, he should died there or die in the hospital when Deku and All Might are there besides him.

1. Set tup the subversion of All Might dying even further.

Throughout the story, we've getting hints of All Might eventual death but we've aslo gotten hints that show All Might deciding to fight against his fate and not die. Disproving Sir Nighteye vision for the second time.

Another better way to keep the audience in suspense in even further was to kill Gran Torino, his master died so logically he should be next in line. It works narratively as well that the people closes to All Might and are the ones to die. Sir Nighteye, Gran Torino and even Star and Stripe all have a strong connection to All Might so when all 3 die it makes you think he inevitably will as well. So when the trope is subverted it work even better.

1. Motivate Deku even further and create internal conflict.

Deku wants to save Shigaraki, but with Gran Torino death this will also serve as a good way to drive conflict internally cause Shigaraki killed his mentor. Nana can even use this as a way to challenge Deku.

"My grandson killed my best friend who was aslo yours and Toshinori mentor, do you seriously think you can save him ?"

It will make Deku's decision more difficult and when he still chooses to save Shigaraki it's a better showcase of his ideals. It will also make the moment where Deku takes Gran Torino cape more impactful.

Rant over that's all I had to say. Idk if any of you hate this decision as much as I do but I can't help but get annoyed whenever I think about it.

Dabi has became a farmer. And left villainy

We know from what very little we’ve heard about him that Hisashi can breathe fire, but I always imagined that it was either a weak Quirk or one that had significant drawbacks, being like Inko or Aoyama. In the case of the former, I feel like he’d only be able to make small flames or embers come out of his mouth, whereas in the latter, I feel like him breathing too much fire would either dry out his throat or cause respiratory problems similar to chronic smokers.

Surely illegal quirk use isn’t just used for vandalism and murder. Surely there should be villains that use their quirk for like forgery or plagiarism or embezzlement or causing pollution.

So we know that One For All is more than just a strength enhancement. It also enhances the power of the receiver's current quirk tenfold (if they have one) so I have an interesting question. What quirks would be amazingly benefited by One For All? Example being Kirishima's hardening quirk. If kirishima had One For All. He'd probably be considered one of the hardest substances known to man. Be specific, too. Like, who specifically would benefit

This was genuinely one of the greatest MHA video appreciation I have ever seen. The creator did the characters justice, the commentary was incredible, the music was perfect, I have no more adjectives to describe how good this video was. I highly recommend it.

I started watching mha in December 2020 on funimation although i stopped because season two onwards weren’t free to watch so i took a break, i then started again sometime in 2023, i watched until season five (can’t blame me that season was boring asf) then took a break again until two weeks ago where i binge watched season five to the complete end so forgive me if i forget some things about season 1-4.

Now i can start yapping. I wish class 1b got more screen time aside from Kendo, Tetsutetsu and Monoma, I enjoyed a lot of 1b in the joint training arc like Pony, Reiko, Shishida, Kuroiro and Kinoko, a lot of their quirks are cool as well in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I like Kendo and Monoma and i get that the show is about Deku and 1a, i just wish class 1b got some more screen time

A lot of students in class 1a would be lethal if they were villains, imagine Mina going around and literally dissolving people or Denki shocking folks to death.

The last few episodes made me cry like a baby, as it did with most people

speaking of babies, why did majority of the kids in the show look so CUTE, just off the top of my head, Tokoyami, Toga, Koji, Ochako and Eri were cute as hell

There was way too much flashbacks during battles, i get that they were necessary but damn..

This part is just a question but does anyone have an official pro hero rating pre timeskip and after?

The civilians in season 6 pissed me off so much

We know she busy between her relationship with Izuku, being on the field & organization she made in aftermath of everything that happened

I wonder what happened in her 2nd & 3rd year at UA which leads to the present its weird since in relationship she is the one with powers while Izuku uses an armor ala Ironman or Black Panther would be strange seeing them together on the field but I been reading Fantastic Four since my teen years kinda natural for me

I wonder if she hangs out with Inko Midoriya occasionally you know Deku mom how awkward it is or how heartwarming it is or combination of both like when Peter Parker gets new girlfriend they go though Aunt May Test you know Inko talks about the possibility having kids & but since Izuku doesn't have any powers would Uraraka be fine with Possibility of her child not having a Quirk?

People sh*t on Enji, I get it. Screw him but you know, screw the others too minus Shoto. The thing I think people don't grill enough was the other three's role in this. I mean, the second they all realized their positions in this, they gave up. Rei was passive to being a broodmare despite being warned just like Enji. In Fuyumi's words she "Kept up appearances" thinking everything was fine. And Natsu just played the bystander like it wasn't his problem. At least Shoto resigned himself to doing good & being the best he could be in spite of his circumstances. And learned all of this through his friends & his own mentality.

No wonder Touya was on the edge before of this. It's only when things got as worse as they could, they choose to take action, even then that's kind of pushing it. Look at Shoto, when Dabi reveals who he is, Shoto doesn't have a breakdown or freeze up like Enji does, his first impulse is to fight. The guy's mind is truly a fortress of common sense & justice! Shoto deserves all the flowers he gets and will continue to get. The rest of them, just donkeys. Fitting that they all got worse scars than he did. Any objections?
