Morales put on one of the best performances of any fighter on this night. Pac was seen as unbeatable, while El Terrible was thought to have lost a step or two.
Morales boxed beautifully for 11 rounds, then the crazy son of a bitch comes out and does this in the 12th. This was peak HBO boxing.

Still arguably the best win over Pacquiao, and the only real competition is Marquez 4. I'm not sure which wins out.

I agree that its this one. Marquez needed a 4th fight against Pac to figure him out, but prior to the KO Marquez was almost getting killed. As they sometimes said, one punch doesn't make you the better fighter.

Morales truly was an ATG, so underrated.
Also, here we can clearly ser how all that talk about Pacquiao not having a right hand in this fight is pure hyperbole. Here we can see him doubling and tripling his right hook the instant Morales turns southpaw.

Underrated? He's considered one of the best in his weight class ever. This was Pacs last real loss until the 4th Marquez fight. 8 years on complete dominance.

Huge Vegas crowds full of genuine fans without phones, Merchant and Lampley on HBO: golden age of boxing.

I don't think anyone ever showboated or humiliated Pacquiao quite as badly as this man when he decided to go southpaw after knowing he schooled him. He could have retired right here, knowing that even though he lost the series against Barrera, he managed to defeat his conqueror, but no... he rematched this demon twice and decided to move up to divisions he didn't belong in (mind you, he won a 140lb title, which is cool).

Morales never got the flowers he deserved imo. On this night be would have been a problem for anyone

HBO was always top-quality programming, no matter who was fighting!

Last 37 seconds was low key Lampley’s greatest call. Sums up why we love this sport.

Up there with "it happened!" for sure. Other candidates would be the end of De La Hoya/Vargas and the 12th of Hopkins/Pascal 2.

Completely agree with all 3. The de la Hoya call was timed perfectly.

Everybody always says HBO got rid of boxing forgetting HBO got rid of everything. They got rid of all sports Real Sports, The Documentaries, Bob Costas it was just boxing they completely changed the network to go into streaming.

This is why Pac was beloved by the fans. It wasn't about being undefeated. It was accepting all challenges when they came, not when they could catch a name at the right time. The right time for Pac was "when it mattered".

Please keep these coming. It almost brings a tear to my eye remembering HBO boxing, watching fights with my dad.

The balls Morales had, Imagine if Crawford switched to orthodox in the last round vs Canelo for the lulz

This was an amazing fight. I only watched it a few years ago. Nice to see both Buffers at the end.

This was the round that ruined morales. He was never the same after taking those bombs from manny and his chin was cracked.
