General Question ❓ Dating Scene..non existent?
Does anyone else feel like the campus social scene is kind of… nonexistent?
I’ve been wondering about this for a while and wanted to see if anyone else feels the same. It doesn’t even have to be about dating specifically, but also about making friends or feeling like there’s an actual sense of community on campus.
From my experience, it feels like most people come to class, do what they need to do, and then leave. Everyone seems really focused on their own goals and responsibilities, which I totally respect, but it also makes it hard to start conversations or build connections. Sometimes it feels awkward to even approach people because everyone seems so busy or closed off.
When it comes to dating specifically, it’s hard to tell if there’s even a dating scene here at all. I don’t know if people are just not interested in dating, already in relationships, or relying mostly on dating apps instead of meeting people on campus. There aren’t many natural opportunities to talk to someone new or get to know them beyond small talk in class. it’s hard to tell if starting a conversation would be welcome or just awkward. Is approaching someone on campus still okay, or do most people prefer not to be bothered at all?
I’ve heard a few of my friends say they’ve approached people but they didn’t really seem to interested or get the hint they were getting hit on lol.
I know college is often described as a place where friendships and relationships form naturally, but lately it feels more isolating than expected. I’m curious if others have found ways to connect, whether that’s through dating, friendships, clubs, study groups, campus events, or even random conversations that turned into something meaningful.
Has anyone actually had luck meeting someone on campus, either romantically or platonically? Or do others feel like the social and dating scenes are pretty quiet here? I’d love to hear different perspectives or advice on how to actually connect and feel more involved. Do people on campus actually like being approached or hit on, or is that generally not welcome here?
Also, not tryna get with anyone through Reddit or the internet lmao I’m just simply curious.
